2 Page 2 TCBA News News from Headquarters Keith Savoie Keith Savoie TCBA President Welcome back to a new season of TCBA! Welcome back to a new season of TCBA. The All Star tournament got underway Thursday afternoon with a good turnout, and proceeded to have good entry numbers throughout the tournament. As always we have 4 divisions, 2 men and 2 women. With 5 squads in the tournament we took the high 3 scores from each of the squads and the highest 4th place from all squads combined. This gave the tournament the top 16 for each division. These 16 bowlers rolled 4 games to determine the All Star champions. We were counting on the TCBA bowlers to make the All Star tournament a success and they did. The Delegates meeting on Friday morning was held next to the host hotel, at the Mesquite Rodeo. The meeting started with the dispensing of the reading of the minutes from the previous meeting. Forum Bowl in Grand Prairie Texas was announced as the host center for the 2015 All Star / National Playoff Tournament on June 11-14, The national award winners were announced. Being an election year the delegates voted to keep the current executive officers the same. There were no new rules to be voted on this year. A question as to the starting date for the leagues was brought up. The question was Could a league start before September 1? When we changed the starting date last year, it was to make sure that leagues did not finish too early in the season and have 1 1/2 months before the National tournaments. The winter bowling season starts August 1, therefore I granted any league to start before September 1 if they wanted to. This grant to begin early was to give the league some flexibility as not to have as many back to back bowling dates. The regional wildcard tournaments were a huge success. Of all of the TCBA wildcard teams that qualified, only 5 teams did not bowl. The ratio for men s wildcard teams will remain 1 in 5 and the women in 3. The format for the regional wildcard tournament will also remain 4 games. The Regional tournament will be held no later than two weeks after the end of your league. Congratulations to all of our 2014 champions. The All Star tournament gave the TCBA four first time winners. Division I winners were for the Women, Bertha Sanchez and for the Men was Robert McGraw. Division II found Tricia Juetten for the Women and for the Men, Lashovious Smith took the honors. The National Playoffs had a storm of two cities capture the titles. AMF Country Quiet Storm from San Antonio was victorious for the women and Storm from Houston Independent ended on top of the hill for the men. During the All Star and National tournaments Brandy Sanderson and Gerald West, achieved perfection with 300 games. Allen Jackson, Kevin Kennerson, Claude Maher and Richard Riddle were close with 299 games. Gerald West and J P Tijerina rolled 825 and 810 respectively. Many thanks to our tournament staff. They continue to astound us with their dedication to the TCBA. Without them the tournaments could not be achieved.
