May 2014 be the best year for Spring Ridge Yet! During these upcoming winter months, protecting your landscaping is of the upmost importance. Following these simple steps will help your lawn stay healthy and beautiful come spring. 1. Hand water your lawn before a hard freeze occurs. Watering adds an insulation period; a dry freeze will do a lot of damage to a lawn overnight. 2. Plants should be covered or brought indoors if they are potted. Make certain to use something to hold the blanket in place so that it doesn t blow off from heavy winds. 3. Landscape lighting will keep your plants warm. 4. Mow your grass high and cut no more than ½ of the grass blades at each mowing. This practice encourages a much deeper and stronger root system. Remember, during the cold months, your plants need to stay warm, just like you! If you've resolved to losing weight, reward yourself by indulging in something for every 5 lbs you lose. Fitness Room Rules HOA vs. CDD: What s the Difference? We have many new homeowners in Spring Ridge and being new to a sub-division that has both a Homeowners Association and Community Development District can be confusing. Here is a brief explanation of the differences: The CDD and HOA have different governing Boards and a different organizational chart. CDD s are a local, special purpose government authorized by Chapter 190 of the Florida Statutes that constructs, operates and maintains the community s infrastructure. This includes the clubhouse, pool, entrance gates, roads, street lights as well as common areas and landscaping. The HOA primarily deals with covenant/guideline enforcement. Their goal is to maintain the property value of the residents, create a sense of community and preserve the architectural integrity of the neighborhood. While the HOA and CDD are two separate entities, they are both equally important and beneficial to the community. January is a very busy month in the fitness room. Many people make weight loss their #1 resolution and the fitness room is there to help you meet your goals. All users must follow the below rules and guidelines to keep the fitness room in tip top shape. Children under 16 must be supervised by an adult over the age of 21. Sneakers must be worn at all times No Flip Flops or Bare Feet. Wipe down machines after use. No Food. Guests must be accompanied by a resident over the age of 18. Use & respect all equipment as if it were your own. Appropriate fitness attire must be worn. Shut off the television, lights and fans before you leave. 2 Lock the door on your way out.

My club has a fundraiser for Luminaries for the Holidays Cost is $12 for a kit of 12 luminary candles for Christmas. All proceeds will benefit Project Eliminate a Kiwanis International global campaign for children, eliminating maternal/neonatal tetanus, aims to raise $110 million and save the lives of a 129 million mothers and their future babies. In partnership with UNICEF, Kiwanis is committing by 2015 to eliminating maternal/neonatal tetanus, a disease that kills one baby every nine minutes. Deadline for orders is Tues. 12/10/13 Thank you. Welcome New Residents Fun Fact New Year's Ball Holiday Past -The original ball lowered in Times Square on New Year's Eve back in 1907 was made of iron and wood and decorated with 100 light bulbs. Pet Rules ALL PETS SHALL be confined on a leash, held by and under the physical control of a responsible person at all times when they are outside of the property in the community. Loose animals should be reported to Hernando County Animal Control at PET OWNERS SHALL pick up after their pets in the community and appropriately dispose of such wastes in a trash receptacle. All Pet Violations should be reported to the Homeowners Association. Common Areas & Retention Ponds are Private Property As a reminder, ALL common areas and retention ponds are private property. No adults, children or pets should be playing in or using the areas. We have added no trespassing signs throughout the community as a reminder to all residents. ATV s are not allowed to be ridden at anytime; whether it is on the streets or common area. Street Light Not Working? Maintenance staff checks street lights to ensure they are working properly approximately one time per month, however, there may be times when the light is blinking on and off and we may not notice the problem. If you notice a street light is not working properly, there are 2 ways to get it fixed: 1. Go towww.wrec.net and click the Repair street light link on the top left hand side of the page and follow the directions. OR 2. springridgech@aol.com with the 8 Digit Street Light Identification Number and location of the light. In general Withlacoochee will repair the light within 2 weeks from the reported issue. HOA Reminders & Common Violations Trash Cans must be used when putting trash out for pick up. Trash cans should be covered and put away on the evening that trash pick-up has occurred. Landscape must be kept up to community standards: Lawn, shrubs and trees should be mowed, pruned and maintained at all times. Fertilization and weed control are a must. The motors we had prior were struggling due to: 1) They were the original motors that were installed 8 years ago, 2) They needed additional horsepower to accommodate the heavy weight of the gates/traffic volume in and out of the community. We apologize for the delay in the repair, however, we wanted to make sure our gate maintenance vendor could find the best price and 4 quality for the community.
