2 SPLASH - Safety Around Water Every day, two children die as a result of drowning. In fact, drowning is the second-leading cause of death for children between the ages of 5 and 14. The Y can save lives. 3 SPLASH YMCA of the USA

3 SPLASH Safety Around Water Key Goal Teaching children how to be safe around water is not a luxury; it s a necessity. SPLASH SAFETY AROUND WATER makes sure they learn essential water safety skills, which can open up a world of possibilities SPLASH 2010 YMCA of the USA

4 2017 SPLASH Water Safety for 5-12 year olds School Spring Break April minute sessions 300 enrolled/265 attended (waiting list of 50 children) Program offered free to participants ($5.00 raffle ticket donation)

24 Beyond Barriers Supporting SPLASH Beyond Barriers is local non-profit partnering with Sequoia YMCA to promote healthy lifestyles, improve personal safety, and provide structure for lifelong achievement by providing subsidies for aquatic programs serving disadvantaged youth. Over 80 families filled out applications for financial assistance for swim lessons 99% qualified for Beyond Barrier financial assistance May swim lessons are full and we have waiting lists 27 PRESENTATION TITLE HERE 2010 YMCA of the USA
