2 What is NHRA? NHRA is an acronym for National Hot Rod Association. Founded in 1951, the company was originally created as a means of getting hot-rodders off the streets and into a safer environment. Today, the NHRA is the world s largest motorsports sanctioning body and the foremost promoter of drag racing in the world! It entertains millions of racing fans per year, with the fastest and most spectacular form of entertainment on wheels. 3 Invite The NHRA Youth & Education Services (YES) Program presented by the U.S. Army was founded in It is the only full-time education program in motorsports that provides quality programs and activities for schools and youth organizations nationwide. Not only is the YES Program FREE, it focuses on the importance of goals and continued education, while allowing students to learn about and explore various career opportunities. The program will show students how S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) is applied to both, real world situations and NHRA Drag Racing, which they will have the opportunity to see live at the track! Students arrive at the YES Program for check in anywhere between 9 and 10:30am. Once they enter the interactive midway full of program sponsors and displays, they can compete in physical, emotional, and mental strength competitions for prizes. The 10,000+ horsepower U.S. Army Top Fuel Dragster will be on display for participants to view and learn about the technology behind the vehicle. Students will then be ushered into the career opportunities presentation with professional speakers from Don Schumacher Racing, the U.S. Army, NHRA officials, and other unique companies. From there, participants can enter the race pits on their own to explore more job options and get the full experience of NHRA Championship Drag Racing! 3

The NHRA YES Program was founded in 1989 and is the only full-time education program in motorsports that provides quality programs and activities for schools and youth organizations nationwide. 6 Frequently Asked Questions Who should attend? All students are welcome, including, but not limited to; middle schools, high schools, colleges, and tech schools. The science behind drag racing can be applied to multiple subjects: Automotive, Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Art/Graphic design, Sports Medicine/ Marketing, Business, Hospitality, etc. How long is the event? Students must arrive between 9 and 10:30am. The program lasts approximately 90 minutes, and then you have the opportunity to watch Championship Drag Racing and walk through the pits for as long as you would like. What do I need to bring? Nothing is REQUIRED, but we do suggest sunscreen, hats, and earplugs. How much does the program cost? This is a FREE program, however, the NHRA does not provide transportation or lunches. Multiple concession stands will be open for students to purchase lunch. Concessions range from $6 - $12 per item. What is the Army s involvement? The Army has been the primary sponsor of the NHRA YES Program since the year 2000, but the program itself has been in existence since The Army provides options for students if they are interested, this is not a forced recruiting effort. 7 How to Register Step 1: Go to Step 2: Select which event you would like to attend. Step 3: Fill out educator s information. Please double check that your address is correct. Step 4: Once registered for the event you will get an automatic reply from the YES Program with your specific student/chaperone registration link and teacher dashboard. If you do not get this link please jbaadilla@nhra.com requesting your links. Step 5: Add jbaadilla@nhra.com to contacts to prevent from being blocked by firewall or if you have any questions. Step 6: Make all travel arrangements. This is a free event but transportation is not provided. Step 7: Teachers, students, and chaperones must individually register and print personal Go Pass (waver for event shown on the right). Step 8: All participants need to bring individual Go Pass to the gates at the event. Step 9: Ipads will be on site for any late additions or bus drivers. Hints and Tricks: Registration issues try to use another web browser, check school firewall, or clear the cashe ( Sharing the student link can be easy if you copy the URL code instead of individually sharing the link with each student. Student registration can be done all at once in a computer lab or tablet from link/url. Teachers can print all registered students at once on their own computer from the teacher dashboard. If you have any last minute additions or issues registering with technology there will be IPads on site to register. This will only slow the process but still works.

8 Maps and Directions Please direct your drivers to arrive between 9:00 and 10:30am. Enter Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis through the main spectator entrance off Highway 136. All participants should have their registration pass ready to turn in. There will be no parking fee for participants with the parking pass, please make copies for all drivers.
