Elton Walker President Editorial: The recent Up Close and Personal Show with Billy F Gibbons (from ZZ Top) and Jimmy Shine (from SoCal Speed Shop and numerous TV shows) went down well with fans at the Gold Coast Arts Centre. Their arrival was spectacular with Juice Waltons FED firing up just as the pair drove up in Rod Brewers chopped 34 Ford Coupe. The concert and talk fest was amazing and the Gibson SG guitar Billy played was signed and auctioned after the concert for $6,100, along with 3 specially framed/signed large prints of the Eliminator Album which all went for $1000 each. The WANTED Car Show the next day at Rocklea was also special with Billy and Jimmy walking around all the cars and handing out all trophies at presentation time. No one expected what came next... Billy signed up for a $10,000 membership to the End of the Road car club.. by accepting a golden ring flown in by a wedge tail eagle no less!! Talk about flair - well done Rod Brewer. Cheers, Elton Walker Newsletter Editor and Webmaster Presidents Report: Hello All Members, New and Old, The Nostalgia Drags and Hot Rod Reunion at Willowbank on Feb. 27 was well attended. Hot as at Willowbank as usual. Some pix this issue. The run to Toowoomba and Goombungee pub was a good one. Good to see a few new members on the cruise. Gotta look out for those roos hey...even the dead ones!! The recent vote on new Options for the management of the Qld Street Rod Guidelines LH9 & 10 was overwhelmingly in favour of Option 2. They ve been in operation since 1996 and in August 2015 TMR approached the Qld TAC with concerns regarding the management of the guidelines. Members of the Executive management of TAC and DC have met since the 12 January 2016 meeting and further club meetings have taken place where voting was required to decide which Option to go forward with. Please read the preferred Option 2 information on Page 7 for more details.

Outgoings approx. $1789 including approx $1400 to Shoebox Club, leaving a balance of $16,364 including term deposit. $4000 will be transferred to an account for the 2017 National Chev Festival. Audit Report still to be finalised. Jenny to provide latest stocktake of merchandise to enable closing out the audit report. QHMC: No report. QHRP: Minutes of February meeting read by Elton. Main points: Entrants T shirts, QHRP committee shirts, $12 tickets on line, Need 4 cars for display asap, Summernats and Victorian Hot Rod Show cars already entered. General Business: Camaro-Firebird Nationals 25-28th March at Tumut - entry form available - need to book in by 10th March Moonshine Run was a great weekend - to be sent to Pete Neal in appreciation of their hospitality at Petes Hot Rod Shop Cottonvale Billy F Gibbons/Jimmy Shine shows well attended and signed posters made up for Youngcare auction at the Hot Rod Show High Altitude Run Toowoomba - Show n Shine 13th March All American Show flyers printed and have been widely distributed and more available here tonight to take with you. Approached by Slushie Van operator and other traders. Still seeking sponsorship - see Ian or Elton if you know people interested in sponsoring a trophy or having a trade stand Auto Spectacular at Willowbank April 17th - Club Run leaving clubhouse at 8am Discussion on Warwick for destination for the 2017 National Chev Festival. s sent to Warwick regional tourism - awaiting reply to set a date and venues for activities. Discussion on Life Members of the Club. Updated list of those who are paying the half price fees and those about to attain the 15 year Life Membership. Those new Lifers will be sent a certificate of this milestone. List will be in the May newsletter Cooly Rocks On: Disastrous muck up of the computer booking system has left quite a few people annoyed. 3rd time lucky - we hope - on Friday 4th March - be ready at 7:00am on your computer to try and book a spot! Those going to the Downunder BeachFest - don t have to worry about Cooly!! Club Runs: No official run for March, Two runs in April: Sunday 17th April for Qld Auto Spectacular at Willowbank and the next weekend to cater more for the ladies a short run to a Redland Bay pub for lunch, leave club rooms at 10:00am on Sunday 24th April.
