1 2015 Dairy Academy Farm Tour Thursday April 9, 2015 at 9 AM Welcome to the 2015 Dairy Academy farm tour! This year the farm tour will be held in the MORNING (rather than afternoon) and the host farm will be: Spring Hope Dairy 2941 County Road 4 Clifton Springs, NY Farm day phone contacts: Barry Putnam Mark McCullouch ) Weather in April in the Northeast is very variable. The temperatures can range from F. Dress appropriately! Please bring rain gear if necessary as you will be moving outdoors between learning stations. 2) Boots: Disposable overboots will be available at the hotel Thursday morning & at the farm. There will also be several boot sanitizing stations for those wishing to bring and wear their own - preferably new - rubber boots. 3) Porta-johns will be available at the farm. 4) Lunch: A boxed lunch to take with you will be provided at the farm at the end of the farm tour. Handwipes will also be available. 5) Directions: Mapquest can provide good directions to the farm. However, their instructions for getting on the New York State Thruway (I-90) can be confusing. The hotel is DIRECTLY across the road from the toll booth/on ramp to the interstate. Please use the hotel driveway that has a stop light to easily access the toll road. 6) Parking please follow parking directions at the farm. The current plan is to go up the long driveway and take the first LEFT just before you reach the first freestall barn. Parking will be in that area. Please watch for volunteers or signs. 7) Meeting area: From the parking area, please proceed directly to the Gathering Area in the paved parking lot in front of the farm office, where we will have a brief farm introduction and the Dairy Challenge group photo BEFORE we disperse on the tour. Please do not tour the farm on your own prior to the tour. 8) Mobile communications policy: Please note that cell phones, cameras & other mobile recording devices are not permitted on the farm tour. No photos are allowed. 9) Brief Schedule: a. 7:45 am leave hotel b. 9:00 arrive at farm office for introduction & group photo c. ~9:20 start farm tour d. ~11:45 complete tours and head back to office for lunch e. ~12:15-12:30 head back to hotel
