Everybody had a great me at the Model A picnic. A very special thanks to Mark and Cathy Schieff for coordina ng it. Also thank you Del and Jerry for cooking the meal for 82 members and 15 cars. Our next Breakfast will be at Shucks restaurant on June 19th at 9 o'clock. On July 16th Judy and Steve Colle will host a swimming party and barbecue at their home. For the July 4th parade please contact Hal white. Also don't forget okay the st. George run on June 2nd Thru the 4th 2

3 THE PREZ SEZ BY JIM MILLER I'll keep this column short and combine both the Pres. and the technical columns to give Rita some extra space for the Picnic photos. I hope everyone that a ended the Spring Mountain picnic had as much fun socializing and stuffing my self as I did. Del and Jerry did a great job of keeping the fires going under all the hamburgers and hotdogs. We missed a few of our long me members, I hope everything is going well with you. For those of you who did not get reserva- ons and would s ll like to go on the Utah trip with the club I understand there are a few openings le. Contact Tony Gardner or Hal White for needed informa on. On the technical side, coming home from the picnic I no ced the li le Cabriolet did not want to slow down from highway speeds. And as I seemed to get into more traffic it took longer and longer to stop. One me when Del's rear bumper was about 30 feet in front of me and the brake pedal was almost to the floor I was star ng to think I be er get this fixed. Del and Jerry agreed to check things out for me last Wednesday. These two guys spent most of the day under my car test driving and ge ng under it again and again adjus ng the brakes un l they were perfect. Del men- oned the clutch pedal seemed a li le low so under it again they went. What a difference driving it home. THANKYOU DEL AND JERRY! This meant a lot to me as with my knees right now ge ng up and down is tough. The lesson of my story is that these old cars need a lot of a en on and as we drive the same car all the me we do not no ce the gradual lessening of the different systems performance. Take the me to check things out, or as I did let someone else drive your car and see what they think. VICE PRESIDENT BY SUZAN LEWIS During the Model A era summer was an important me with families enjoying the beach and swimming. Summer in 1920's and 1930's shi ed from "taking in the water" to "taking in the sun" at bathhouses and spas. Men wore one or two piece swimsuits while women usually wore one piece. In late 1920's women began wearing two piece suits with midriff exposed. Swimsuits design shi ed from func onal to incorporate more decora ve features. Rayon was used in the 1920's in making ght fi ng swimsuits but durability when wet was a problem. Jersey and silk were also used. Stretch latex rubber became material of choice for bathing caps and becoming fashionable. In 1928 speedo introduced their raceback silk suit that was op mized to fit body shape. In 1930's men began going shirtless. Beach pajamas were popular for the women. They could be one or two piece with matching or coordina ng tops. A ernoons the common choice was a basic shi dress, o en sleeveless with the décolletage o en low as an evening dress. The flare trousers increased in popularity from 1929 through 1930 o en with low back. Hats with large circular brims to match ou it were worn. Whether sunning or swimming or just enjoying a evening near the beach all were dressed to the A's!! SUNSHINE BY CHARLOTTE KESSLER be the cure! Unfortunately she has had some other problems which may require postponing it. She will keep me posted and says hello to everyone. Always in our thoughts and prayers Lorraine. 3

4 MEETING MINUTES BY JUDY COLLETT President Jim Miller called the mee ng to order at 8:00 P.M. Vice President Suzan Lewis led the Pledge of Allegiance. There were 30 members present and 3 Model A s driven. Dan Prehm made a mo on and Tony Gardner seconded, and the minutes of the previous mee ng were approved. President, Jim Miller, Vice President Suzan Lewis, Treasurer Bob Andrini, and, Secretary Judith Colle all gave their reports. Workshop: Jim Miller reported on the project they completed. Tour: Mike Kessler asked Tony Gardner to give a few more details on the coming trip. Sunshine: Charlo e Kessler gave her report. Membership and Newsle er: Rita Waroway : Rita will keep us informed. We have two new members. Old Business: No Old Business. New Business: More details on the 4th of July Parade. Dark Horse: Charlo e Kessler won the Dark Horse.
