A special thanks to Pat and Kat McMahon for se ng up the breakfast at Dessy's. Unfortunately the service was not up to what we expected for a Model A breakfast. Thanks to Tony Gardner and Hal White for coordina ng the cars of the stars tour. Bea y day's - contact Del for informa on. Breakfast on November 8 at Boulder City Golf Course. The T&A a picnic will be November 14 at Sunset Park. Please bring a side dish and any auc on items. Holiday party is scheduled for December 10 at the Italian American Club. You must have your $25 dues paid to get 50% off the cost of the 2 meal. The club pays $30 and members pay $30. The kickoff breakfast is scheduled for January 10, 2016 and the cost is $15 per person. 3 THE PREZ SEZ BY MARK SCHIEFF The me for elec ons for 2016 Club leadership is around the corner. With Joe & Cheri Mar no in the process of reloca ng to Reno and other Board members looking to step down it is a great me for any ac ve member who would like to help guide the club to come forward. Contact any member of the elec on commi ee to express interest in an appointed or elected posi on before the November mee ng. The elec on commi ee is composed of the following past presidents: Tony Gardner (Commi ee chairman), Del Hering, Hal White and Dennis Waroway. Nomina ons will be accepted at the November mee ng for any addi onal interested par es and then all candidates will be added to the Ballot which will be included in the November newsle er. The Ballot will also include a place to vote for special awards for individuals you feel have met the specific award criteria. Please vote immediately and mail your votes to Tony Gardner by December 5th so they may be tallied before the December 10th Holiday Party. If by chance you forget to mail your Ballot by December 5th, please bring it to Tony at the Holiday Party and it will be included in the final count. The newly elected officers will be announced at the Holiday Party and will be installed at the "Kick-off Breakfast" in January. The newly elected President will than announce the new appointed directors at the "Kick-off Breakfast". TECHNICAL BY JIM MILLER Last month we did a roadside ming of a replaced distributor. Now we will try to find the failure of this distributor. This will be a li le basic for the old mers but should be of value for our new members. Even if your distributor is working great it would be beneficial to go thru the steps with your working assembly. 1. LOOSE COUPLING SHAFT. This will add excessive backlash to the dist. A worn sha should be replaced with the two sha system. 2. IMPROPERLY MACHINED SHAFT. Replacement sha s have been known to be machined out of round causing the point gap to vary between cylinders. 3. LOOSE OR WORN BUSHINGS. The sha should have no lateral play. This will cause erra c point gap. 4. DEFECTIVE DISTRIBUTOR CAM. Uneven lobes or loose fit on sha, all four lobes should give the same point gap. 5. LOOSE BREAKER PLATE. The upper plate should have lateral play. The plate should be just loose enough to turn. Check fit with spring installed. 6. BUSS BAR INSULATOR BROKEN OR MISSING. The buss bar to condenser screw passes thru the insulator. 7. BUSS BAR PIGTAIL WIRE. This must be a quality stranded wire 3-1/2 inches long. 8. LOOSE ROTOR. The rotor should be a snug fit on the dist. cam. 9. ROTOR GAP. Not too cri cal, make the gap even at about.025" and you will be fine. Some dist. bodies have been out of round and the rotor will be ok on one contact but hit the next. 10. LOOSE DIST. BODY. Must be a snug fit to the housing. 11. CONDENSERS. Condensers can cause both solid and intermi ent problems. 12. CHECK OUT THE ENTIRE DIST. FOR ANY ELECTRICAL SHORTS. POINT GAP AND TIMING. Check your newsle er next month. SUNSHINE BY CHARLOTTE KESSLER I spoke with Lorraine Hanna, end of September. She is about the same and will see the doctor in mid October. Mark and Cathy Schieff had to come home early from their vaca on in Italy. Cathy had a bad fall, broke her arm and cut her face. Shirley Goldstrom passed away October 11th. Art and Shirley Goldstrom were instrumental in" promo ng the "car culture" here in Las Vegas. Shirley will be missed. Another former member Dave Abrams has passed away. Members who have been with the club for some me may remember him. 3

4 MEETING MINUTES BY JOE DIMARTINO Mark Schieff called the mee ng to order at 8:00. Mark led the pledge of allegiance. There were 32 members, 4 cars and no guests. Hal White mo oned to approve last month s minutes, Tony Gardner seconded it and the minutes were approved. Mark read off the birthday list. There were 14 birthdays. Now, if you average all the age of everyone at 60 years old, and that s an average, take 60 mes 14 that s 840 candles. That s a lot of candles! Mark talked about the Turlock swap meet in January. And a car show January in Mesquite. Doug Warren took the floor and talked about the Veteran s day parade November 11. Mark took the floor again and talked about the Colorado trip. Treasurer: Bob Andrini gave his report. Tours: Mark took over for vaca oning Mike Kessler and gave the floor to Del to talk about Bea y. Jim Robbins talked about the upcoming breakfast at the golf course in Boulder City. Workshop: Jim Miller is making a parts list for traveling with the Model A s. Sunshine: Rita Waroway filled in for Charlo e Kessler and gave the report. Membership & Newsle er: Rita filled in her own spot and gave her report. New business: We had an auc on.
