4 SCCC GENERAL MEETING MARCH 4, Call to order- President John Schaefer called meeting to order. 2. Pledge of Allegiance 3. Secretary s Report-John read minutes from last meeting. Motion to accept the minutes as read by Jim and seconded by Pete. 4. Vice President/Veterans Affairs-Pete introduced new prospective member George and Nancy Nealis. Stated 35 Corvettes escorted the Wounded Warriors and we have received s from the Wounded Warriors saying thank you. Special thanks to Annette, Bob, Fay and Jane for working Gift Baskets and Tom Marshall, Karen Marshall and Denise Jalicki for collecting 50/50. Wounded Warriors took in a total of $10, Viet Nam Memorial escort will be April 15 th more information to follow. 5. Treasurers Report-Terry stated we received a $1, donation from Morse Communications. He has rented a storage unit at Princeton Storage. He is working on a budget for the Vette on the Avenue car show. Reminded everyone the next meeting will be the next Sunday after Easter. 6. NCCC Governor s Report-Jim advised that NCCC will be sending out new cards. 7. Competition Director-Don advised that the Web page is up to date except Cocoa Beach and Rockledge and those events will be added to the web page. He reminded everyone about the Rosner show. 8. Officer at Large-Robbie and Anne are collecting for 50/50 9. Newsletters Editor s Report-Denise asked for Cool Corvette Stuff. 10. Webmaster-Frank advised that the website has a new layout. Any new information should be sent to him. 11. Social Director-Tom advised that on 3/17/18 the social is at Jack Straws, 4/14/18 social is at Pizza Gallery, 4/21/18 social is at Squid Lips and the social on 4/28/18 will be at Twisted Birch at 6:00 pm. 12. Social Media Director Report-Kevin stated Facebook is now open to the public. Members are asked to add content if you have anything. Most events are posted on Facebook. 13. Parade Coordinator-Bill advised that s have been sent out regarding the parade. Will send out one more on the parade. 14. Homecoming Chair-Jimmie advised that most homecomings are in Sept/Oct and he will need convertibles. 15. Club Apparel Coordinator-Tom Jalicki not present. 16. Show Chairman-Mike G said he will be forming committees for our show on 10/20/ Name Tag Coordinator-Tom Howard advised that name tags are $11.00 unless ordered in bulk. 18. Special Announcements-Karen Howard reported birthdays and anniversaries. 19. Old Business A. Participation in Rosner show is encouraged B. Facebook has now gone public 20. New Business A. Christmas party location will be same as last year B. 7 Cool Corvette Stuff All Member Contributed Corvette News, Cool Stuff, etc. Mail your cool stuff to Curt, remember to site your sources. Nothing much this month except for a couple Cool Corvette videos. The first one is from thedrive.com and is entitled 2018 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Proves America's Supercar Is Practical and Potent in Equal Measure. If the link below doesn t work, just go to the thedrive.com WEB site and browse the videos. The second one is from autoweek.com and is entitled Watch the 755-hp 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 hit a dyno. With 755 hp, the 2019 Corvette ZR1 is one the most powerful production cars on the planet. As these cars start trickling into owners' hands, it was only a matter of time before someone slapped this LT5-powered Vette on a chassis dyno to see how much of that 755 hp it brings to the pavement. Apparently it only took four cars before someone did this -- according to RaceProvenMotorsports on YouTube, who was responsible for evaluating fellow YouTuber StreetSpeed717 s brand-new Corvette ZR1. Also, according to the video, this is the first stick-shift ZR1 in the country, and it has only traveled a couple hundred miles since it left the factory. Still, the guys put the Vette on the dyno and started making data. The ZR1 managed to send 668 hp and 644 lb-ft of torque to the rolling road of the chassis dyno. That's a 12 percent drivetrain loss, which is about what we expect from a car like this. I encourage everyone to look for any cool Corvette stuff and send it to me for inclusion in the newsletter.
