Carol, Steve Tompkins, family with health issues; Steve had a stroke last month but is much better and back to work. Carol having issues with her foot, her break has healed but has also had a torn ligament. She is hoping to be back dancing soon. Wish them all well and that the sun will be out to cheer us all up!!! 16 Page 16, HCubed May 2017 Hopper Council Report May 9, 2017 The next State Meeting will be on May 20 at the Twin City Square & Round Dance Hall in Clarkston, WA. All are welcome to attend. The 2017 Spring Council Dance had attendance of 330 dancers, including 26 new dancers in the No Experience Hall. Income $2784, Expenses $ , for a net profit of $ A check for $ was given to the Council Treasurer. The Fall Council Dance, hosted by the Skagit Squares will be on Sept 30, from 7-10pm and will include a No Experience Hall with Dave Harry. John Corrigan and Heather Reynolds calling and Bob and Linda Berka cueing. Tickets will be available next month. At the Stanwood Middle School. On May 21 st, MBTCCA will be hosting the Newbies Dance at the Juanita Community Center from 2-5pm. Open to ALL new callers and cuers - NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE NEEDED! Contact Susan Morris if interested. Dancers, come out and support our newest callers.

17 Still looking for dancers for the Arlington Fly-In on July 7 th, from 6-7pm. It is Leadership weekend and the British Columbia Mini-Festival, so please participate if you can. They would like to get two squares and a couple extra. There will be a jam band after the square dancing. Submit any changes to the Council Directory to Doug Keyes asap. Price to produce Council Notes will increase next year, as Warren is selling his business. Delegate packets should be turned in to the Council at the June meeting. At 6pm, before next months Council meeting, the Caravan Chairs will meet to organize next year s caravans. Generic lesson brochures were distributed to the club delegates. The remainder will be given to Petticoat Junction for distribution. This month s potluck and games will be on May 13 th at Mark and Vira Laurence s house. Sherry Gray of the Samena Squares reported that they have reinstated their non-profit status. It cost $800 to file and $800 for the CPA. Page 17, HCubed May 2017 We have some accomplished members who give of their time and talent in the community and deserve recognition and also some very busy women who enjoy sewing. If you know any members who deserve to be in the Spotlight, please let me know. Sally Goryns is very creative with her sewing and here are some examples of her work she entered in a Quilt Show very nice

19 Jim LaMontagne volunteers at the Marysville Food Bank where they pack lunches for needy school children. Jim says he packs approximately 418 lunches a week for this program so you can see the community has a need for ongoing donations and would welcome your donations. Raymond Baron is holding a Certificate of Recognition for his volunteer work for the Snohomish County Sheriff s Office and also for Search and Rescue Project Care Track. They place tracking bracelets on people who tend to get lost such as those who have alzeimers or autism. ~~Photo by Anne Lucas Raymond has volunteered for 15 years and for 12 of those years has been the Volunteer Director.
