3 Letter from the President.. Ready or not, it's Happy New Year to you! Reflecting on 2018, some of our dances come to mind. We pulled up the crazy holidays list to choose some of our dance themes. My favorite was our "Yellow Pig Dance", replete with yellow pigs that some dancers took home. The costumes for our Halloweenthemed dance were terrific. Even I broke out of my rut and came up with one, surprising my bride of 54 years. Closing out December, the "Ugly Sweater Dance" brought out creativity in some of our dancers that still makes me smile when I think of them. You know who you are. We're grateful Dora Newsom captured many of our dances in pictures to share on Facebook and to reference when memories begin to fade. Swingin' Singles will hold club dances January 15 and 29. Don Adkins has lined up 6 great visitations for us beginning Friday, January 4, with the Live Wires. Keep up-to-date with the rest of January visitations by referencing our calendar. Connie Templin is heading up the nominating committee for our dance year. There are several openings. Per the club bylaws, the list of nominees shall be read at the last dance in January, and shall be published in the February newsletter. Voting will take place the last dance in February. Newly elected officers shall take office on April 1. Bill Foreman Thanks to everyone who donated to the Marines Toys for Tots collection at the dance on December 4! Reminder! Don t forget the joint New Year s Eve Dance with Docey Dandies on Monday, 12/31, 8:00 pm 12:30 AM at the VFW Hall, 9550 Pflumm Road, Lenexa, KS. Tickets are available at the door for $12. 4 MAINSTREAM LESSONS We are now on the downhill slide for mainstream lessons. Graduation is the night of January 21, We plan on having some funny things happen in the squares that night. Students have been coming to our club dances and look like they have learned enough to keep up with Jay s calls. Plus lessons will start at 7 pm on February 7, 2019 at a new location this year -- Colonial Church of Prairie Village KS, 7039 Mission Rd. Park in the back.
