There was a great spread of food to feed the wonderful members and guests who made the night fun. Awards were presented to the High Point Winners and Reserve Winners in each class. We also completed our elections for next year s board of directors (please see page 4 for election results). The night was wrapped up with our always entertaining Stonybrook Bucks Auction, where all your hard work and hours spent volunteering for the year are converted into Stonybrook Bucks, which is to only way to bid and cash in on auction items! 2015 Award Results Horse Halter High Point Marcy Gruchalak Bust Her Bubble 9 Reserve(s) Alex Bateman Jesse 6 Chris O'Donnell Roper 6 PeeWee/Junior Grooming & Showmanship High Point Olivia Whiteman Sunday 2 Senior Grooming & Showmanship High Point Marcy Gruchalak Bust Her Bubble 3 Reserve Chris O'Donnell Roper 2 1

A Note of Thanks Before announcing your 2016 Board, I would like to acknowledge the great job our 2015 Board has done this year in making this a fun and productive year! In addition to the board, our club members have really been stepping up and volunteering where they are needed to keep things running smoothly. Without all of your dedication to making the club great, we would certainly not have been able to have such a delightful year. From performing officer duties, putting together clinics & judged trail rides, manning the gates at horse shows, cleaning the clubhouse, running the entry booth, and to selling fundraising tickets, every bit of time volunteered for the club is very much appreciated! 3
4 Meet Your New Board of Directors! President, DeAnn Sloan: Board Member, Katie Katkowski: Vice President, Marcy Gruchalak: Board Member, Becky Guenther: Treasurer, Christine Cafazzo: Board Member, Glenn Plouchard: Corresponding Secretary, Nicole Cammuso: Alternate Board, Alicia Johnston: Recording Secretary, Leighanne Cahill: Alternate Board, Marylynn Fentress: Board Member, Beth Regan: Junior Board, Olyvia Whiteman Board Member, Jayne Lott: Junior Board, Alex Bateman DeAnn Sloan, President DeAnn has had a love for horses her entire life. Although she grew up riding other people s horses as often as she could, she was not able to foster her passion until, as an adult, she began taking lessons and eventually bought her first horse. She mostly trail rides, but is trying her hand at a variety of disciplines (including introducing her daughter Ellis to the horse world astride Princess Luna!). When she is not in the saddle, DeAnn is usually busy with her three children, playing/coaching volleyball, or skiing. DeAnn looks forward to serving Stonybrook Saddle Club as President. She hopes to combine traditions of the club with fresh ideas (and perhaps revive a few activities from the past) in order to renew interest in the club. She looks forward to working with the Board, members, and guests to make the coming Marcy Gruchalak, Vice President Marcy has been a member of Stonybrook Saddle Club for a few years now. Last year she served as Show Committee Chair and intends to continue as Chair this year. Marcy spent time vaulting with Steel City Vaulters and also herded buffalo on a closed range in Texas. Her main focus now is mounted shooting but you'll see her in most of the classes Stonybrook has to offer because she really likes to show the versatility of her horses. Marcy is excited to serve as your Vice President this year! Christine Cafazzo, Treasurer Chrissie has been a member of the club for over 30 years. Horses are her passion and she has loved them all of her life. She loves to trail ride, but also enjoys competing in Judged Pleasure Trail Rides, obstacles, show halter, showmanship, and pleasure classes. She loves to share her love of horses with others. 4
5 Nicole Cammuso, Corresponding Secretary Nicole currently runs her own training and boarding business, NC Equine LLC, which is based out of Spring Hollow Farm in Plum, PA. She has been riding for 20 plus years, and has a passion for barrel racing. Nicole has also found a niche in competitive judged trail rides, cowboy mounted shooting, and retraining retired racehorses. According to Nicole, watching a horse transform and blossom through her training program is one of the most rewarding aspects of her career. She is looking forward to a progressive year next year for Stonybrook Saddle Club as corresponding secretary. Leighanne Cahill, Recording Secretary Leighanne started riding horses at age 9 but has been obsessed since age 2. Mainly she has focused on western gaming events and trail riding but also has interests in cutting horses, obstacle courses, and trick riding. When she is not on horseback or helping animals at her job she enjoys jogging, ice skating or kayaking. She is very passionate about horses and enjoys sharing her passion with others. She looks forward to this year as recording secretary of SSC. Beth Regan, Board Member Beth started to riding in her mid-teens, at which time she became a member of the Stonybrook Saddle Club, rode in the parade team, and competed at fun shows. She got back into riding in her later years and rejoined the club. Beth s main focus is on Judged Pleasure Trail Rides and having fun. This will be her second term as a board member. Jayne Lott, Board Member Jayne has been in love with horses for as long as she can remember. She feels so lucky to have the horse of my dreams at this point in her life. "Koda" is a grullo colored Quarter Horse/Paint, and they have been together for 3 years now. Jayne and Koda had a rough start, but they are now a fantastic team. She has been a member of Stonybrook Saddle Club for 3 years. She was vice president in 2014, and 2016 will be my second year of being a board member. Katie Katkowski, Board Member Katie who is new at riding horses, really enjoys trail riding, western gaming events and learning new things to try with her horse, Canyon. When she is not working as a veterinarian technician or at the barn, she loves to spend time with her husband, Dan; 2 dogs, Nittany and Maverick; her cat, Goose; and her best friend, Heather. 5
6 Becky Guenther, Board Member Becky has been a Stonybrook member going on three years. She has recently, within the past two years, started taking her horses to small local shows and is really having a good time. She said she would like to see this little club grow because it's good for community and a great place for making new FRIENDS. As a small club there is less pressure and more room to learn new things in a supportive atmosphere. Glenn Plouchard, Board Member Glenn is a self-employed general contractor. He became the proud owner of two horses in He just this past year started riding and is learning many new things about horses. By joining Stonybrook, he has met new friends and has become more involved in the horse community. In his free time he enjoys fishing and hunting rabbits with his beagle Peppermint Patty. Alicia Johnston, Alternate Board Member Alicia is a full-tme nanny who is finishing her Social Work degree. She has been riding horses since she was 8 and enjoys trail riding, western gaming events, and obstacle challenges. She is excited for the upcoming season so she can introduce her stepdaughter to the horse world. When Alicia is not working or spending time at home with her family, she enjoys going mountain biking and snowboarding with her husband. She looks forward to being on Stonybrook Saddle Club's Board. Marylynn Fentress, Alternate Board Member Mary Lynn has been involved with horses for over 60 years. She has been involved at all levels, showing, eventing, competitive trail riding, pleasure trail riding, and teaching, and her children were all in US Pony Club. When the kids were all gone she wanted something to be involved in which would be like her pony club so she could be with those with the same interests. That is where Stonybrook Saddle Club came to the rescue. Stonybrook has been a chance for Mary Lynn to have friends with the same interests and to do fun things together. Olivia Whiteman, Junior Board Member Olivia has loved horses and has always wanted to own a horse since she was four. For many years, she has been riding other people s horses as well as taking lessons and riding at Camp Lutherlyn and Miracle Mountain Ranch. She has participated in many Judged Pleasure Trail Rides and Open shows. She does mostly trail riding, but loves showing and riding in many Western disciplines with some English every once in a while. When she isn t riding or spending time with horses she enjoys playing the guitar and piano, photography, hunting, competing in a 3-position rifle team and participation in church activities. Alex Bateman, Junior Board Member Alex has liked horses for a long time. Multiple people in her family have interacted with horses a lot. Although she was always riding someone else's horse she was able to finally own one herself soon enough. She only does the western. When Alex isn't at the barn, she is usually and continuously learning about horses or hanging out with friends and family.. 6
7 Recap and Highlights from 2015 We had a pretty busy year at the club with a variety of events! Here is a look back at what had to offer! Cowboy Mounted Shooting Clinic with James Chambers April and September Fun Shows Rabies Vaccine Clinic at Delmont Animal Hospital Trail & Obstacle Clinic with Evon Montgomery Judged Pleasure Trail Ride at Northmoreland Park What The Judge is Looking For Clinic with Kara Hollanbaugh June, July, and August Open Shows Flea Market/Tack Swap/Craft Show Judged Pleasure Trail Ride at Deer Lakes Park See you again my friend Our past president, Donald Clements, lost his long battle with cancer this October. Donald was very passionate about improving the club for the better. He was devoted to learning new ways to better his horsemanship, and loved running barrels with his horse, Denver. Donald will always be remembered for his enthusiastic and optimistic attitude. He was a dear friend of mine, and I think I speak for everyone when I say he will be missed by many in the horse community. Planning for 2016 Planning for next year is already under way with some informal brainstorming sessions. Januray 8 th is our first Board of Directors Only meeting, where we will begin to strategize our 2016 year! Meetings open to all members and the public will start back up in April. Keep in mind we are always looking for help in various areas and committees throughout the year. Some of our committees include Kitchen, Fundraising, Show, Clinic, Advertising/Marketing, and Grounds. Any member is able to head/join a committee, committees do not have to be head by board members. To stay most up to date with what is going on with the club, keep checking our website and facebook page! We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and we will see you in 2016! 7
