Box Brooksville, Florida Well folks even though it has been a long hot summer the club has remained active. Beginning with the Memorial Day picnic, probably the best attended ever. Then the 4th of July Parade and Bar-B-Que, once again we got 1st place in the parade and as always we were a big hit. Sunsets have had sporadic attendence, but the sunsets have been consistantly beautiful. August breakfast was a real surprise!! about 50 members both old and new. I urge our long timers to take a minute to personally greet new members and guests, make them feel wanted because they are We have several projects in the works. Ralph has transformed a rusted honeycomb mini into a thing of beauty. Steve and Lana built a house. I ve got the Morris ready to paint (it s amazing what you can find under 50 year old paint). Our new members Jack and Vickie s midget had an engine problem so we managed to pretty much destroy it in less than 3 hours! That s what we do. Drive them like you stole them and often. SAFETY FAST Terry The Staff of the No Name Flyer, would like to express our appreciation to President Terry, for giving us the last two months off, however all good things must come to an end, were back in business. Be sure to let the guard at the front gate know you are with the car club so he will let you in. 2 .4th of July Fun... story & photos by Ralph Decker High Point 4th of July Parade... WE WON... Thanks to the ten cars that participated in the Parade, the Club took the 1st place trophy for outstanding entry. Our participation in this parade has been a favorite of the spectators for years now, but this is the first time we beat out the Fire Trucks, Sheriffs Office, Horses and Politicians. The check for first place was donated the following week to the Monster Transmission Charity Car Show at Chick-fil-A, in the name of the Nature Coast ENGLISH CAR Club! (Take that you muscle car groups) Even better, this year we were actually positioned in front of the horses, so we didn t have to avoid road apples. After the parade we all met at Terry s home, where we had the traditional Road Kill Luncheon. Attendance at the luncheon was very good and a big thank you goes out to not only Terry, but the Ladies of the club that jumped in to help him set up and clean up. Of course the guys ended up under a couple of bonnets during the day, and we had a chance to check on Terry s latest project, a repaint of the Morris he acquired. During the luncheon, Terry presented a framed photo from a past 4th of July lunch to our favorite couple Jeane and Kirk. Kirk being semi retired for the last year (or more) now, and Jeane has taken the plunge this July. The photo captured them on Terry s couch, sound asleep. Something a number of us have done over the years after the July parade, beer and good food. Jeane, It s our way of saying congratulations to you both for reaching that mile stone and sharing the last bunch of years with us. Work Party Story by Ralph Decker, Photos by Sandy Sanders Bill Jacket hosted a work day at his home for two of our newest members, Jack and Vicki Baker. Their MG Midget is pretty close to original condition, including the paint, the motor with all the emission equipment still installed, and a great original factory interior. Unfortunately, the car has sat for a while and while the body is still nice, the motor has a terminal problem, it was found to be frozen...solid. The usual shade tree mechanics were there, Jay, Dave, Terry, Ron, Sandy and Edie, Ralph and one of our new members an experienced wrench turner Bob Anderson. Beer and Pizza was supplied and it was a fun morning. It ended with the decision to pull the motor, in which Bill Jackets front end loader was used and the motor slipped out like we knew what we were doing. 3 Burger & A Beer Photos and story by Ralph Decker Although the summer seemed to be hot and humid this year, we still made it out of the air conditioned man caves, now and then. Burgers and a Beer was very well received in August. We started at Marker 48 with a beer and 10 members then caravaned to Zig Zag Scallops in Hernando Beach. A great little place right on the canal where the shrimp boat fleet docks. We ate on the patio overlooking the boats and discovered Chuck and his brother-in-law Bill waiting for us. Jack and Vicki joined us and Denise and Tom Chamberlain saw the cars out front and stopped in to say hello. They updated us on their Healey collection and promised to get active again, thats good cause we missed them all these many months. Everyone enjoyed lunch and it s obvious Zig Zag Scallops will be on our list for Beer and a Burger in the future. Another out of the way place that we visited in June is probable one of the oldest bar s in Hernando, the Crossroads. Rumor has it that the building was moved from the airport, when the Air Force abandon the B-29 training base there. Great Hamburgers and cold beer, just what we asked for. I know for a fact that while Hernando County was a dry County, there was a hell of a still in the woods across the street from the Crossroads. August Breakfast Photos and story by Ralph Decker Breakfast for August was mind blowing, considering this is the time that most of our family s are up north, on vacation, or hiding out from the heat. Several of us made counts which were 46 to 49 folks in attendance. A fantastic showing of enthusiasm for Little British Cars in this area, Thanks everyone, just wait till winter! 3
