December 02, 2015 CAPTAIN SHIRLEY RIGO Captain Shirley began the meeting with introducing Music Sweet Music as one of the charities selected by the Salty Sisters to be represented at the Holiday Party. Founded in 2001, Music Sweet Music is a nonprofit organization that provides music therapy and the special musical instruments used in music therapy. Music Sweet Music contracts with specially trained Board- Certified music therapists to treat children with illnesses, diseases and disorders. This therapy is spreading to schools and Eldercare programs. Ninety- four cents of every dollar donated goes directly to the program. GUESTS: Barbara Watson introduced her friend, Heather Lalaine. Heather is a new member of SPYC and will hopefully be a Salty Sister soon. Jill Bridges brought her daughter, Shana Tabron, and twin grandchildren who are visiting from California. CO- CAPTAIN: SELGA SAKSS Selga announced that she has changed the schedule for next week from an educational program to a fun sailing day. Please sign- up for either Prams, Ideals, or Race Committee and have some fun. Wednesday was the annual Candy Cane Regatta that was organized and run by Helen Larsen. The regatta was a combination of 3 races: The Christmas Tree Race (1 st Carol Hansen, 2 nd Els Wiemken, and 3 rd Nancy Kadau and Last went to Camilla Kilgroe), the Candy Cane Race (1 st Joy Rudnick, 2 nd Anne O Dell and 3 rd Sue Davidson), and the Poker Run where prizes were given to all who participated. AWARDS: TRICIA BILLINGS The Spirit Trophy and charm was awarded to Charl Hadfield who had been on vacation for 7 weeks and missed the original award presentation at the October Annual Meeting. FWSA charms were awarded to Dee Gill & Carol Hansen. Charms were also given to Anne O Dell, Sandy Ripberger, Janet Walker, Vicki Posner, Sigrid Lovfald, Helen Larsen & Nancy Strite for 100% participation in a series. A charm was given to Helen Larsen for her many years of work & leadership on the Candy Cane Regatta. Carol Hansen was awarded a plaque from the SPYC Executive Committee at the Commodore s Ball to honor her yearlong representation of the Salty Sisters on the SPYC Executive Committee. Sigrid Lovfald was thanked for her representation of the Salty Sisters in the Commodore Lucas Cup at PAG a few weeks ago.
2 FWSA 1 ST DELEGATE: GLORIA DAVIS The next interclub will be hosted by SPYC on Tuesday, December 8 th. We have racers, but only 1 volunteer to help. We need additional volunteers for race committee, safety ashore, etc. Please volunteer your time at this interclub. HOSPITALITY: BARBARA ARNOLD Barbara announced that Gloria Lewallen had a short hospital stay and is now recuperating at her daughter s house. Cards can be sent to Gloria s apartment. Past Salty Sister, Laurie Graham, is recuperating at Westminster from a broken hip. On January 7, 2016, we are making arrangements to do the Port of Authority Tampa Harbor tour, followed by lunch at the Oxford Exchange downtown Tampa and then attend the Henry Plant Museum. STORES: KATHY MANSIR AND MARY JANE PEABODY Plenty of bling jackets are now available. Vests, hats, and silver jewelry are also available for sale. SOCIAL KAREN LIEBERMAN, SHELIA MOORE, NANCY VILDIBIL, AND BONNIE ROHRBAUGH The Christmas party will be held on December 16 th. Choices for the luncheon will be Salmon or Roast Beef and the price will be $ The Club Manager will be supplying us with a beverage treat upon our arrival. Please make your choice on the sign up sheet that will be passed around at lunch or notify Karen of your choice. Christmas Boutique: Carol Hansen thanked everyone for helping in this year s Christmas Boutique. Char Doyle handed over the reigns after many years of leadership, and we are grateful to her for all her effort over time. Carol thanked Joanne Simmons for taking on the Chairman job of the committee and organizing the boutique this year. Thanks also to Joy Rudnicki, Lisa Avila, Mary Jane Peabody, and Susan Huff for their support. This year s boutique had 46 venders and twice as many sponsors as last year! Many thanks to the sponsors and volunteers who helped make this a successful event.
