1 Page 1 of 5 Newsletter December 17, 2014 CAPTAIN'S REPORT: Carol Hansen As she opened the meeting, Carol welcomed former alties MaryAnn Cook, Diane Fowler, Dauna Kelso, Jane Martin, Linda Meehan, Carol Pickering, and Vicky teinwender. Carol also introduced our honorary alty, the Commodore s wife, Kathleen Ford. GUESTS: No guests. CO-CAPTAIN S REPORT: Shirley Rigo Shirley reported that the Prams & Sunfish have finished their charm series. The Sonars will have one additional race day on January 7th to complete their series. On January 7th, Shirley will start a new charm series for the Prams and run the Golden Girl series at the same time. To qualify for the Golden Girl series, a Salty must be a minimum of 60 years of age. The Salty

2 Page 2 of 5 sailor who wins the Golden Girl Competition will be invited to sail in the FWSA Masters Class at the Rainbow Regatta. Our Salty Sunfish sailors will start a trophy series on January 7th that will run for 6 weeks. The Maggie Mug will begin on January 14th in the Ideals. Shirley requested that sailors sign up ahead of time for these races, so she can have the correct number of boats placed in the water for Wednesday racing. She and Captain Carol also would love to have some more Salties for Race Committee, so please volunteer to help on Race Committee if you don t intend to sail. AWARDS: Spirit Award At the Annual Meeting this year, it was announced that Vicky Steinwender was the recipient of the Spirit Award which is given to the person who displays the willingness to always be there, and is willing to do anything to help her fellow sailors. Vicky was unable to attend the Annual Meeting in October, so Past Captain Vicki Posner presented the Spirit Award to Vicky at the Holiday Party on Wednesday. Her fellow Salties Sisters gave a big round of applause for Vicky S. Traditional Class Skit: With business concluded, Captain Carol introduced Judy Clapp, the solo member of our Salty Class of Judy performed the traditional class skit with the help of the Salty - Broad Reachers Class of They gave a fine performance with the theme of Judy as the Solo Old Salty (SOS). Bravo, Salties!!! Welcome aboard!
