Your goal is to be as CREATIVE as possible. Have fun with this project! You ll show your packet to the teacher after ALL sections of this packet are completed! 2 1. WHO IS IN YOUR BAND? Your band must have four to six members. Choose artists from any musical groups or solo acts, living or deceased this is your dream group! If you don t know a person s name, look it up! The band members can be from any genre of music rap, country, folk, classical, etc. If the person is from a band, circle BAND and then write the name of the band. 3 2. NAME YOUR BAND AND YOUR TOUR! Be creative, yet appropriate! Your tour name can be funny or serious; you decide! Just be appropriate! The name of your tour can relate to your band name if you want! o Examples: The Planets (band name); Across the Galaxy (tour name) The Fruit Loops (band name); Are You for Cereal? 4 3. SPECIAL ADDITIONS! What special additions will your rock tour have? Pick TWO and EXPLAIN each one! These could include free gifts, dancers, laser light shows, pyrotechnics, large projection screens, etc. It can be anything you want; this is your tour. Be creative! 1. 5 4. WHY SHOULD PEOPLE GO SEE YOUR BAND ON TOUR? Come up with FOUR reasons why people should see your band s tour. You can include the two special additions that you came up with on the previous page if you d like. 6 6. CHOOSE YOUR ROCK TOUR PROJECT! There are four project choices on pages 7-8 of this packet. You will choose ONE to complete. Read over the descriptions and carefully make your choice. 7 7. CHOOSE YOUR CITIES AND DATES! Your rock tour will travel through 15 U.S. Cities. You will start in Pittsburgh, PA. List the city AND the state. You must spell both correctly! Look them up!!! Choose FUTURE dates for your concert. 8 ROCK TOUR PROJECT CHOICES ROCK TOUR PROJECT CHOICE #1: T-Shirt Create a tour t-shirt for your rock tour! You will create an actual t-shirt. You must decorate the front AND the back of the t-shirt. Requirements: Both sides of the shirt must be decorated The t-shirt must include: o The name of the band AND the name of the tour o The 15 cities you are visiting AND the date of each show (I recommend putting these on the back) o The members of your band (first and last names) AND what their roles are in the band (drummer, singer, etc.). Make sure you spell the names correctly!! o At least four graphics that are at least 2 x 2 - The graphics may be hand drawn (paint, markers, etc.) or computer generated. You can create an 8 x 11 Word document and print it on an iron on sheet. You can buy those at Wal-Mart, Staples, etc. You do not need to go to that much trouble. A handmade shirt will be just as good! o Your name and class period (somewhere visible on the shirt; you can put a piece of tape on the inside of the shirt or write on the tag). The t-shirt must be COLORFUL, NEAT and CREATIVE! ROCK TOUR PROJECT CHOICE # 2: CD CASE w/ ORIGINAL SONG TITLES Create a CD case for your rock tour! You will create an actual CD case and 10 original song titles! Requirements: Both sides of the CD case must be decorated. The CD Case must include: o The name of the band AND the name of the tour o The members of your band AND what their roles are in the band (drummer, singer, etc.) o The 15 cities your band is playing in AND the date of each show o 10 made-up song titles (be creative, yet appropriate; they can be serious or funny) o At least two graphics that are at least 2 x 2 - The graphics may be hand drawn or computer generated. If you get a picture off of the computer, it must be neatly cut out. o Your name and class period must be somewhere visible on the CD. The CD case must be colorful and creative. The CD case should look very neat. Additional options: o Make a booklet for the cover (like real CD has) o Make an image to put behind where the CD would be o Record songs and include the CD with your project! 8

9 ROCK TOUR PROJECT CHOICE #3: CONCERT TOUR POSTER Create a tour poster for your rock tour! Requirements: Your poster must be at least 12 x 18 in size. The poster must include at least: o The name of the band AND the name of the tour o The 15 cities your band is playing in AND the date of each show o The members of your band (first and last names) and what their roles are in the band (drummer, singer, etc.) o At least four graphics that are at least 2 x 2 - The graphics may be hand drawn or computer generated. If you get a picture off of the computer, it must be neatly cut out. o The price of tickets for your band s show o TWO made-up quotes (at least one sentence each) from critics or fans about your band s tour. These can be typed and attached to the poster or NEATLY handwritten on the poster. o Your name and class period The poster must be colorful and creative. There shouldn t be a lot of negative space; fill up your poster! The poster should look very neat. The poster should make people want to attend your band s rock tour! ROCK TOUR PROJECT CHOICE #4: BAND WEBSITE Create a website for your band! Requirements: Your website must include at least: o The name of the band AND the name of the tour o The 15 cities your band is playing in AND the date of each show o The members of your band (first and last names) and what their roles are in the band (drummer, singer, etc.) o At least four graphics that are at least 2 x 2. o The price of tickets for the show o Your name and class period o At least TWO quotes from critics or fans about your band s tour. The website must be colorful and creative. The website should be very neatly laid out and easy to navigate. The website should make people want to attend your band s rock tour! Free website creator suggestions (or use one that you are familiar with) o o o domains.google.com (requires a Google account, which is free to create) *You will need to the link for your website to Mrs. Pile! 10 PROJECT DUE DATE, PRESENTATION INFORMATION AND OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION: PROJECT DUE DATE: Your rock tour project and the grading rubric will be due on Monday, May 18, 2015! o NOTES: If your project is the CD, poster or t-shirt, you will turn your project in. If your project is a website, you need to your website link to Mrs. Pile before Monday, May 18 th!!! Mrs. Pile s pilead@svsd.net PRESENTATION: You will present your rock tour project to the class on Wednesday, May 20 and Thursday, May 21. There is a speech sheet that you will fill out prior to your presentation, so you ll know exactly what you need to say. Your presentation will be graded. ADDITIONAL COMPONENT: In addition to the rock tour project and presentation, you will responsible for a writing piece related to this project. You will be creating a newspaper article (a review of one of your band s shows) from the viewpoint of a music critic. More information will be coming soon! 10
