3 OVERVIEW Purpose and Mission Greekend strives to foster relationships among Fraternity and Sorority Life, Stetson University, and Deland by taking pride in our community through unity, philanthropy, and healthy competition while promoting brotherhood/sisterhood, high standards, respect, and leadership. This year, the Greekend Committee has entirely revitalized the structure and purpose of Greek Week from previous years. The two main focuses of this transformation are to have fewer, more impactful events and to implement collaboration amongst the Chapters instead of strictly focusing on competition. The committee has reduced the week into only three days with three events: a philanthropy event, Greek Sing, and trivia with awards. We hope that you all genuinely enjoy the events and supporting the Greek community! Theme The 2017 Greekend theme is 90 s! Chapters are encouraged to embrace all that this throwback theme has to offer as they incorporate the 90 s into their dance. To reduce redundancy, for Greeksing, each team will choose their own sub-theme under the 90 s theme to perform their dance to. 5 GENERAL RULES An organization that chooses to participate in Greekend 2017 represents the University and will abide by the Code of Community Standards always. By participating in any Greekend event, organizations agree to follow the rules and regulations set forth in the Greekend Rules Packet Unruly or disruptive behavior or intoxicated participants will not be tolerated. If any member of a participating organization is found to be intoxicated or acting inappropriately during a Greekend event, the Executive Board reserves the right to remove that person and disqualify their organization from the event without warning. All questions or concerns should be directed to the Executive President, Kate Ellis at kellis1@stetson.edu or Vice President, Diana Dupre at ddupre@stetson.edu. Any content deemed inappropriate by the Greekend executive board or the Greek Life office will lead to docked points, or expulsion from the competition. Examples of this include: nudity, profanity, political propaganda, etc. All decisions made by the Greekend Executive Board are final. All rules and regulations are subject to change at the discretion of the board. Any modifications or additions to the rules and regulations will be announced appropriately. Organizations are not required to participate in any event but are highly encouraged. Awards will be given to the winners of Greek Sing, Trivia, the Philanthropy Event, and the overall Greekend. 5

There will be three main components: education video, packaging relay, and an unconventional boat war. Educational Video A short video about the Deland Homeless Shelter featuring Dr. Shankar-Brown will be released by the Stetson Greek Life Facebook page. Organizations can also receive bonus points by sending a representative to go donate the kits the next day. Unconventional Boat War Each organization will be paired up with a different organization(s) to build a two-person boat out of cardboard and duct-tape. The teams will then select two participants to sit in their boat in the pool. The boat that lasts the longest wins. 12 GREEKSING Thursday, March 30 th 7:30-10:00 PM Hollis Center Fieldhouse Greek Sing is a fun night of dancing and competition for all Greek organizations to show off their moves to a themed dance. Each organization will have 5 minutes to perform their choreographed dance and impress the judges and the Stetson Community. This year, organizations have the options of performing alone or pairing up with one other organization. Rules: Organizations competing are asked to choreograph a dance routine fit to their specific subtheme. o The sub-theme must relate to the overall 90s theme. Examples of acceptable/appropriate themes are 90s movies, Nickelodeon, Backstreet Boys, etc. Get creative! o Liaisons will submit their organization s theme on a first come first serve basis by the first liaison meeting Monday, February 6 th at 7:00 PM in 25L. Please be prepared with backup themes as themes may not be repeated. Once a theme is approved and confirmed it may not be changed. Organizations must have a theme to participate in Greek Sing. Performances must not exceed 5 minutes. A maximum of 40 members from each team are permitted to perform during Greek Sing. o Even if two organizations are performing together, performers still must not exceed 40 members. Performances must be appropriate for the entire Stetson community as well as for the Greek Sing audience, in accordance with Stetson s values and the guidelines set by Community Standards. Inappropriate behaviors will result in automatic disqualification. Inappropriate behavior includes but is not limited to: o Offensive music o Obscene language o Drug or alcohol references or use at anytime by members before or during a performance (having inebriated members will result in forfeiture of performance and will result in an automatic disqualification) o Nudity or revealing outfits o Anything racial or prejudice o Suggestive or explicit dance moves 12
