1 ST. CATHARINES PUBLIC LIBRARY Teen and Tween Summer Reading Club (Ages 9-18) Hey teens, log your summer reading for a chance to win fantastic prizes! Fill out a ballot for every book you read. The more ballots you submit, the more chances you have to win one of our weekly prizes. At the end of the summer, all the ballots will be entered into our grand prize draws! The club begins on June 16. Reporting ends on August 18. TD Summer Reading Club (Ages 11 and under) Visit any St. Catharines Public Library location to register for the TD Summer Reading Club. Children choose their own reading materials, track their reading, and collect reading incentives when they report at the Library location at which they are registered. The club begins on June 16. Reporting ends on August 8. REGISTRATION: 1. Children must meet the minimum age requirement at the start of the program. 2. Register in person at any Library location. 3. Fees must be paid at the time of registration. 4. Programs may be cancelled due to insufficient interest. PLEASE REGISTER IN ADVANCE FOR ALL PROGRAMS.

We will connect copper tape and LEDs together to electrify your designs. Tuesday, July 10 2:30-3:30 pm Central, Story Hour Room Fee: $3.00 Marshmallow Crafts (Ages 6-9) Let s make structures that taste as good as they look. Using marshmallows, we will create different kinds of crafts and experiments. Wednesday, July 11 2:30-3:30 pm Central, Story Hour Room Fee: $2.00 STEM Summer (Ages 3-6 with caregiver) (Ages 7-12) Put your science, technological, engineering and math skills to the test! Try various STEM activities including Littlebits, Ozobots, and Code-a-pillar. Space is limited, please register in advance. 3 Tower Challenges (Ages 8-12) Your engineering mission, if you choose to accept, is to build two of the tallest freestanding towers using only a bag of balloons, tape and pipe cleaners. Work quickly, but efficiently, as the safety of the world rests in your hands. Good luck. Jungle Animals Wednesday, July 25 6:30-7:15 pm Dr. Huq Free Fruits & Veggies Wednesday, August 22 6:30-7:15 pm Dr. Huq Free Pinkalicious & Peterrific (Ages 3-6 with caregiver) Pinkalicious and her brother Peter, stars of the PBS series and Victoria Kann s books, are the inspiration for stories, activities and a craft. Get ready for Pinktastic fun! Friday, July 27 2:30-3:15 pm Central, Mills Room Free Ozobots (Ages 5-8) Come play with Ozobots. These tiny robots can follow lines you draw on a piece of paper. We ll test them out, race them and code them to do all kinds of cool moves. Wednesday, August 1 2:30-3:30 pm Central, Story Hour Room Free Beach Bonanza (Ages 4-8) Come for an awesome storytime that will whisk you away for some fun in the sun at the beach! Hear some great stories and make your very own jellyfish to take home with you! Thursday, August 2 10:30-11:30 am Dr. Huq Fee: $2.00 Ice Cream Science (Ages 8-12) Get the scoop on ice cream science! Experiment with making your own ice cream. We will learn the science behind ice cream and make our own ice cream to eat and enjoy. Thursday, August 9 2:30-3:30 pm Dr. Huq Fee: $4.00 Bruce the Bear Storytime (Ages 3-6 with caregiver) Join us for a storytime all about the Bruce the Bear books by Ryan T. Higgins. Bruce is a loveable and grumpy bear who has a big surprise! We will read the stories, play games and make a bear craft. 5 Kindergarten 101 (Ages 3-4 with caregiver) This program is designed for children who are starting Kindergarten in September. With a focus on language, social and personal development, the program will help children prepare for Kindergarten through literacy and musical activities. Caregivers must participate for the last 15 minutes of the program each week. Program runs for 3 weeks. Please register in advance as space is limited. In teams of 3-6 people, you will need to solve puzzles, find hidden clues, and use your logic and observations skills to find your key to freedom! Create your own unique mosaic using a variety of buttons in different colours and shapes. Friday July 6 2:30-3:30 pm Central Library, Story Hour Room Fee $2.00 Bubble Art (Ages 9-13) Learn how to make unique pieces of art with bubbles. Be prepared to get messy and make pictures that are sure to pop. Saturday, July 7 2:30 3:30 pm Central Library, Story Hour Room Fee $1.00 Cupcake Wars (Ages 9-14) Choose any book and create a cupcake creation inspired by, or related to, that book. We will have awards for tastiest book-to-cupcake interpretation and the most daring cupcake! Tuesday, July 10 2:30-3:30 pm Dr. Huq Fee: $3.00 Summer Snow Globes (Ages 9-14) Snow globes are too fun to just be a winter activity. Join us as we make summer themed snow globes and embrace the warmth and cheer Tuesday, July 17 2:30-3:30 pm Merritt Fee: $4.00 Tween STEM Time (Ages 9-14) Experiment and play with some of the Library s Science, Technology, Engineering and Math equipment. There will be Little Bit challenges and Ozobots available, among other equipment. Friday, July 20 4:00-5:00 pm Central Library, Story Hour Room Free 3D Design for Tweens (Ages 10-14) Learn to create simple 3D designs and become familiar with Tinkercad design application. The program fee includes the printing of an item using up to 30 grams of filament. Printed items will need to be picked up at a later date. Participants require a valid address. Wednesday, July 18 and 25 2:30-3:30 pm Wednesday, August 8 and 15 2:30-3:30 pm Central, Learning Resource Centre Fee: $ HST Duct Tape Crafts (Ages 9-14) Duct tape is good for everything. Use this versatile material to make a wallet or cell phone case. The only limit is your imagination! Thursday July 26 2:30-3:30 pm Central Library, Story Hour Room Fee $3.00 Sharpie Painting for Tweens (Ages 9-14) Sharpies are not just the boring black they used to be - they now come in lots of different colours. Saturday August 18 2:30-3:30 pm Central Library Story Hour Room Fee $1.00 TEEN Baby Sitting Course (Ages 11-15) This Red Cross course offers basic first aid and caregiving skills for youth years old. You will learn how to provide care to children in a variety of age groups. Participants will receive a Red Cross Babysitter s Manual and Completion certificate. Saturday July 21 9:30-2:00 pm Central Library, Mills Room Fee:$50 with $10 deposit at registration 3D Printing for Teens (Ages 13-17) Discover the world of 3D printing and learn how to prepare and print 3D items.
