1 PRESIDENTS CORNER Runaway Bay Cricket Club welcomes all new and returning members from last season to the 2013/2014 season. A promising season lays ahead for the Bay with lots of new members. Both Juniors and senior grades. If we all work hard on and off the field it could just be the YEAR OF THE SEAGULL! SENIOR NEWS AND RESULTS 1 ST Grade trialled v Angove Park 21 st September. A lot of new faces in the squad and a great day was greeted by the teams. RBCC won the toss and bowled first. Queens 6/163. M.Manns 2/24. S.Manns 2/21. T.Harker 1/30. A McGuiness 1/24. In reply, RBCC 7/166. T.Hanrahan 24. A.Castle 25. T.Ray 33. S.Manns 35. Well Done 1 st grade! Captain & Coach both very pleased with the performance overall. The annual interclub trial games took place this past Saturday 28/09. A cool overcast morning greeted the four sides. TEAM 1 v TEAM 2 was a tough affair that would surely see first grade selected from. TEAM 2 batted first scoring 89. B.Flesser top scored with 26 and D.Nordstrom spun a web with 2/8. TEAM 1 responded with 121. J.Renau 43 and A.Mcguiness 2/8. On Loxton 2, TEAM 3 took on TEAM 4. Team 4 won the toss and batted. 277 off 40 overs. M.Davies 65* and K.Marriott 50* whilst G.Hinze 2/12. In reply, TEAM 3 batted 35 overs 224. G.Hinze 79 and Joel Harrison 3/20. Some good cricket shots played and 499 runs off 75 overs. FEES ARE NOW OVERDUE! MILO in2cricket MILO in2crcket was launched in 1996 and offers children aged 5-8 years of age the opportunity to learn a full range of cricket skills, social skills, sportsmanship, understand cricket and have fun whilst doing it. BAY HISTORY Sam Loxton Samuel John Everett "Sam" Loxton, OBE (29 March 1921 3 December 2011) was an Australian cricketer, footballer and politician.

2 BAY HISTORY Sam Loxton Samuel John Everett "Sam" Loxton, OBE (29 March December 2011) was an Australian cricketer, footballer and politician. Among these three pursuits, his greatest achievements were attained on the cricket field; he played in 12 Tests for Australia from 1948 to A right-handed all-rounder, Loxton was part of Don Bradman's Invincibles, who went through the 1948 tour of England undefeated, an unprecedented achievement that has never been matched. COACHES BOX Cricket consists of three components that form the team sport. Fielding, batting and bowling. All bear the chance of injury. Proper stretching & warm up/down before and after a game of cricket prevents the chance of getting injured and enhances recovery. TOUR OF NEW ZEALAND RBCC is looking for expressions of interest in regards to an end of season trip to New Zealand.
