1 TeeBeeCee Gazette FROM THE CHAIRMAN MAY 2014 Spare a thought for your fellow bowlers SKIPS How many times do you find yourself calling out to a bowler at the other end of the rink Take more grass!? Ask yourself, is this bowler new to the game? Probably not. Is it just possible that the bowler can clearly see that they need to take more grass and they really don t appreciate your comment adding to what they already perceive to be a sub-optimal effort! It s not your role, as a skip, to make comments about another person s efforts especially in front of the whole team and in some instances, half the green. The point simply is that some skips see it as their duty to comment negatively on nearly all bowls being delivered. These comments are actually unhelpful and don t lend themselves to a harmonious game. If a skip really wants to help, believes their input is actually important, then how about having a quiet chat during change of ends this might have a more beneficial outcome. So skips, unless your comments are 100% supportive, please ease up on your fellow team members it s only a game! NON-SKIPS How many times (as a 2nd in Triples or a 3rd in Fours) do you let the skip know what you think? The problem is that the skip didn t ask what you think and, not to put too fine a point on it, probably doesn t want to know what you think. The point being, that unless a skip asks for your input, you should remain silent. It s true that the head may have changed since the skip left it nevertheless, the skip probably still knows exactly where everything is. The skip can and will ask only if necessary. So, please don t dance around in the head and show the skip which way to come, which bowls have moved etc. unless asked!! The reason for saying this, by the way, is that lawn bowls, as we know, is a game of correction the better you can correct on your previous bowl the better the outcome. A major factor in this process is timing and the more any bowler is delayed in delivering their next bowl the less likely they are to correct to the extent that they seek to do. Clearly, many pages can be written about etiquette. My hope is though that the comments above, in the limited space available, will help all of us to have a more enjoyable experience when playing this great game. Harvey Fuller Chairman 1

2 HAMO S TeeBeeCee REPORT HAMO s TeeBeeCee REPORT FINANCIAL P&L covering our 2013/14 financial year shows a loss of $28,951 which is $56,362 less than for the same period last year (i.e. loss of $85,313 which also included net proceeds of $34,667 for sale of four gaming machine licences). This is a particularly pleasing result. YTD Profit before allowing for depreciation is $52,134. Total current assets of $300,539 ($289,639: 2013) including cash assets $269,457 (259,089: 2013) is further proof as to our improved results to 31 st March 2014 especially considering net capital expenditure of $59,901during the year. HOUSE Gaming Machine Net Clearances are up by $52,319 (34%) with turnover increasing by $570,631 over the previous year. Return to player was 89.14% (88.42% last year). BOWLS & MEMBERSHIP (TB&MC) Position 23/4/14 = Voting Membership 267, Social Membership 386: Total = 653 but figures include 4 voting members + 97 social members that have yet to pay their renewal fees. 3 PRESIDENT S REPORT LADIES CLUB. At last life has returned to normal on Tuesday with the ending of our pennant season...thank goodness can be heard quite often with relief. Sadly no extra pennant to be seen on our flag pole this year. We are having another Jensen night with Chinese fare on Thursday 15 th May put your names down at the bar $25 per head. Anzac Day as always was a great day with service bowls and high tea. Thanks to all the ladies who so willingly made themselves available before and after bowls. Also to the men who lent a hand, a combined effort by all. The Turramurra Trophy is to be held on 2 nd hopefully this time it happens. May rescheduled from March due to the weather so Jeanette Staniland received a call from the Cancer Council congratulating us on the money we have raised since 2002 at our Big Morning Teas. A total of over $6500. What a great effort. The ladies AGM and Big Morning Tea will be on Tuesday 20 th May when I step down after 3 years as President. Sincerest thanks to the ladies who have been on the committee during that time and all who have been available to " lend a hand ". My deer wife Betty past away too munths ago. I no you wood wont to no seein as how you were kind enuff to put me up when I had her down in the city to see that groinocologist about her aviaries and that. Ive been meenin to rite to thank you anyways ever since I brort her home. I kept puttin it off becorse of my spellin problems. Betty always rote my letters for me and never gave up tellin me I shoodda gone to scool instedd of goin rabbitin. Two late now. but I know you understand. Also I have been diablosed with Immaculate Defederation and that makes ritin verry difficult. So this will be short. here goes. everythin went along well for her when she first cum home but then she developed bad stomach pane. At first the doc thort she might not be masturbaytin her food properly and suggested we buy that orgasmic food that is so deer up here in Goondi. Im no tyfoon like that mrs Rinehart from western Australia but Betty was in so much pane Ide have payd anything to stop her sufferin. She had releef for a while but then she started the most terrible coffin. Doc sed just a bronical condition and rote her out a subsciption for sum sort of medicine to desolve the information in her lungs. When that didn t fix it he said maybe he thort she shood have a test for Tubular Crosis. She kept coffin at nite sumthin shockin and I was powerless to help her. When they discovered the reel problem that it was Empla Seemier it was two far advanced to help. They put her in hospital in the end and she looked so profetic and pale layin there I shed many a private teer. She just fell apart and even her nymph glands became effected. Her passin was peaceful because they gave her mortein to eese her pane. I was grateful for that. I feel so lost without her as you can imagine becorse she has been a reel wunderful wife to me and I miss her daylee. The funeral was very sad and we all shed mor teers. You mite remember our cuzzin frank from backa Burke and his wife Milly. I was surprised to sea them there and also our neybors from way bak Ron and Jane. He is an old man now and can hardly walk because of the plumbago in his lowere back. We had a lovely ceremony at the cemetery where we consentrated her deer little grave. They say that eventually mye pane and contusion will vanish and a little order and kaos will be restored. At any rate thank you agenn Martha old stick. Maybe ill sea you agenn wun day. 8 NEWS Property Market Update The latest data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics has revealed that home loan approvals are off to their strongest start in five years. According to the survey, 13 per cent more home loans were approved in the first two months of 2014 compared with the same period last year. This marks the highest total loan approvals since 2009, and confirms that the 2014 Real Estate market is off to a great start. 1 2 The Australian Finance Group s Mortgage Index also showed that 39.6 per cent of all mortgages processed in March were for investors the highest in seven years. The increase in approvals across-the-board is positive news for sellers, as more and more buyers continue join the market. Property prices are still on the rise, but the rate of that growth has settled down into more sustainable territory. The Easter and Anzac holiday period may have been quieter for listings, but there were still plenty of interested buyers around. Now with the holiday breaks behind us, the market is up and running again, with nearly 600 properties set to be auctioned in Sydney on the first weekend in May.
