1 CEO Talk Hi all, Another month down, only 2 to go till Xmas..very scary!!! Thanks to all who attended our Father s Day lunch & dinner. It was great to see the dining room full with patrons. Below are the names of our Father s Day Raffles winners. If this was you, congratulations! Bon & I attended the Grand Final of the Scope Balloon Football League. More details on page 2. This was a great day and the Sports Club was proud to donate & present the trophies this year. Special thanks to Macca & Nick Brown for their contribution to this league during the season. The cricket season is underway. The pitch was prepared and top dressed by Hume Turf, but unfortunately with some teams being in the football finals this was delayed by 2 weeks. We wish all the cricket teams the best for the upcoming season. The cricket AGM was held on and the committee has been voted in. More information on page 6. The AFL Grand Final was shown on our new big screen projector. All those who attended had a fantastic afternoon. Thank you for your support on the day. Look for promotions on upcoming events to be shown on the big screen in the near future. Personally l would like to share a big thank you to Suzie Honey who has been promoted to the Sports Clubs first Duty Manager. This was well deserved and she has already shown us her management abilities by undertaking this important role. We wish Suzie all the best. Keep an eye out for our Thoroughbred Spring Carnival promotions. We will be screening the major races on our big screen throughout October & November. All are welcome to join us for these exciting race days. Bar snacks will be available throughout the day for you to enjoy. Cheers, John French Club News KIDS IN THE MEMBER S AREA Recently we have noticed an increase in unaccompanied underage children being left in the member s or bistro area unsupervised or without the company of an adult. In accordance to our liquor license condition, a minor under the age of 18yrs Must be accompanied by an adult at all times within a liquor licensed venue. Failure to adhere to this could result in the lost of our liquor license and further more unable to operate the gaming venue without our liquor license. In addition minors are abided to be within 1 metre of the service area (bar). We thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation. 2 The St Albans Football and Sports Club were proud to be involved in the running and sponsoring of the trophies for Balloon Football this season, culminating in the Grand Final being played at Keilor Basketball Stadium. With the help of Bill Hemus, John Reynolds, Nick Brown (Junior Development), Daryl Bennett and his daughter Rebecca, the day was a great success. John French and Bon Tai presented the trophies on behalf of the Sports Club. Congratulations to our Director Mick Psaila for winning the AFL State Volunteer of the Year Award for A fantastic achievement which has been deservedly recognised. Well done Mick! 5 Cricket News St Albans Cricket Club 2013 Hall of Fame Past inductees Ian Cook & Garry Keenan congratulating Steve Nikolic for being inducted into the 2013 Hall of Fame The St Albans Cricket Club Hall of Fame & Pre-Season Launch night was held in August to much fanfare. Steve Nikolic was this year s Hall of Fame inductee. Russell Dennison & Matthew Manning s premiership team were awarded with their presentation caps also. Thanks to all who attended. The Cricket Club look forward to a successful season and hope all member s will support them throughout the year.. 7 Football News Results for September Reserve s St Albans Football Club were fortunate enough to have the Reserves team make it to the Preliminary Final only to be beaten by 2 points to Sunshine. Whilst it was a disappointing result for the boys, the Club is proud of their achievements this year and look forward to another successful year in A huge congratulations go out to the U18 s who made it to the Grand Final. Unfortunately they were beaten on the day, but their effort and achievements TO make it that far was fantastic. U18 s Thanks to all the coaches, staff & players for your continued support. We have said it many times before, but without your continued support we could not run our football club as well as we do. 9 Golf News Hookers & Heathcote Golf was played at Heathcote and the winner after checking his score card for an hour after the game was Hacka, he happened to keep checking his card when he found out Malta was club house leader at the time, funny to say he ended up beating Malta by one shot! These were the 2 Naga`s for the day as Michael Speakman didn t show last game. Mick K contemplating after the game hoping he wasn t going to win the NAGA TOP 2 months running. Mitch imitating Nick Gia showing all the boys when he gets home he will need to give his eyebrows a good trimming. Tells all the boys he 2 x Naga s trimmed them in the morning. Nick is one hairy man.
