2 EWORD CONTENTS EWORD James Sutherland VIEW 4 Cricket Australia s Growing Cricket for Girls Fund is enters its third year at a time when the popularity of the women s game is at an all-time high. USG THE FUNDG 5 APPLICATION PROCESS 6 ASSESSMENT 7 TERMS & CONDITIONS FUNDED APPLICAITONS 9 CONTACT MATION 0 The Fund - a ground breaking funding initiative for female sport, has so far seen more than 800 girls teams joining established and new girls competitions. highlighting the opportunity for girls to get involved in cricket and to experience the friendly and inclusive environment. Our long term aspiration is for cricket to be a game for females, just as much as is for males. Last season s 4.5% increase in female participation shows that we are on the right track. More than.4 million people of all ages currently play cricket - and 7.6% of these are female. Following the announcement of additional support from principal partner, the Commonwealth Bank, last year, the total investment in Growing Cricket for Girls is now $6m over four years. This is easily the single biggest investment by an Australian National Organisation into teenage girl s sport. Through the continued support of our broadcasters and Cricket Australia s live streaming, the women s game is being watched by more fans than ever before. Meanwhile attendances are at record levels with great crowds attending the Women s Ashes and WBBL during this summer. Following significant increases in women s cricketers pay, our sport now offers remuneration that is with our peer in Australian women s sport. We want young girls to have a clear line of sight to our cricket pathway - and the above developments are Thank you to all associations, clubs, school sporting associations and schools for your interest in this program and for supporting this important initiative of growing cricket as a sport for women and girls. With best wishes for your season ahead. James Sutherland Chief Executive Officer Cricket Australia Message from the Commonwealth Bank For almost 0 years, Commonwealth Bank has enjoyed a partnership with Cricket Australia. Together, we re focusing on championing diversity and inclusion in the sport and working to strengthen the foundations of cricket for girls, Indigenous players, players with disabilities and local clubs around the country. Nurturing talent at a grassroots level is important for the future of the sport. To help maximise opportunities for female cricketers, we re jointly funding the Growing Cricket for Girls Fund. Our support will give teenage girls from all cultures and of all abilities the chance to step up to the crease and get involved in one of Australia s favourite sports. We look forward to seeing the opportunities that the Growing Cricket for Girls Fund will provide girls to take them from a grassroots level and inspire them to play elite cricket. Monique Macleod Chief Marketing Officer Commonwealth Bank of Australia

4 VIEW The Growing Cricket for Girls (GCG) Fund has been established by Cricket Australia, in partnership with the Commonwealth Bank, to support the growth and development of girl s competitions at community cricket level across Australia. The GCG fund is seed funding designed to fast track the establishment of new opportunities for girls to play cricket. Making cricket the sport of choice for girls and providing a clear playing pathway is essential to growing sustainable female participation in community and school based competitions and ongoing club membership. The fund directly supports community cricket associations, school sporting associations, cricket clubs and secondary schools across the country to develop new girls competitions, grow established competitions and support girls teams. This supports the whole of pathway approach, building the base and aligning talent. As we approached the midpoint of the four year Growing Cricket for Girls initiative, we undertook a review process. Feedback was gathered from funding recipients from the last two years, as well as Australian Cricket staff from across the country and covered a broad range of topics. The feedback has led to changes to the funding guidelines, as well as the application process. As a result, we have reduced the administrative burden on funding recipients and focused on the support and strategic development of competitions and teams. HOW DO ORGANISATIONS BENEFIT? Direct funding to community cricket associations, school sporting associations, cricket clubs and secondary schools to develop girls competitions and girls teams. Support from their State and Territory local field staff to plan, develop and implement the competition and teams, along with a dedicated female participation specialist to provide additional insights and strategic support. Cricket Australia driven national marketing campaign focused on girls competitions, including advertising and promotions across a wide range of channels. Specifically designed girls competition marketing and communication materials. This includes templates for local newspaper and social media advertising and flyers, all aligned to the WBBL colours, designed to attract and inspire new participants. USG THE FUNDG WHAT CAN THE FUNDG BE USED? The funding is seed funding designed to fast track the development of all girl s competitions and girl s teams. It is focused on sustainability and creating the best environment for girls, particularly those new to cricket. Ongoing costs should be considered in the general business of the organisation. CLUBS AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS * (up to $,000 per year) *Primary schools can also apply for funding under the same conditions as secondary schools. Applications will be considered on a case by case basis. Funding can be used for: Girls team coordinator to work with the club committee.
