from the NEWSLETTER # 4 APRIL 2015 Mailing Address PO Box 183 Kingston 7050 FIRST GAMES OF THE SEASON We wish all of our young footballers the very best as they don their Tigers guernseys and represent the Kingborough Tigers Football Club in the first round of games this Sunday. We would especially like to welcome all of our new club members. Every age group has new players, some joining us from other clubs, some from interstate, some graduating from Auskick and some trying football for the first time. We hope you all have a fantastic first game on Sunday. On Sunday we are off to all parts of the countryside for Gala Days in all age groups. Gala Days occur occasionally where all teams in an age group all play matches at the same ground. This week at Kingston Beach Oval we are hosting all STJFL Under 10 teams. Eight matches in total! Thanks to the coaches, managers and parents in our Under 10 age group for looking after the ground and canteen while the rest of us are elsewhere. TRAINING SCHEDULE We have nearly settled in to a training routine. At present the Under 11 s and Under 8 s are sharing the Huntingfield ground which is not ideal. This is the flow-on effect from the delay in moving our Under 16 age group to the Twin Ovals for training. We have been advised today that this will take place in three weeks KINGSTON BEACH TRAINING TIMES TEAM MONDAY TUESDAY WEDNESDAY THURSDAY FRIDAY U/ to to 6 U/ to to 6-45 U/ to to 5-30 U/ to 5-30 U/11 moving to Kingston Beach Oval in 3 weeks to train Thursdays 2015 HUNTINGFIELD TRAINING TIMES MONDAY TUESDAY WEDNESDAY THURSDAY FRIDAY U/ to 5-30 (moving to KBO in three weeks) U/ to 5-30 U/ to 5-30 U/8 4 to 5 IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR ALL FAMILIES TRAINING AT HUNTINGFIELD The school gates at the end of the gravel driveway are locked at 3.30 pm. Please do not park inside the school grounds. Use the school car park or the Tarremah car park. St Aloysius Catholic College Oval is a private facility which we are kindly able to use for training and games. Please respect this. ALSO NOTE PLEASE DO NOT TRAIN IN YOUR PLAYING JUMPERS
CLUB MERCHANDISE On the back of the hoodie Those that have made orders in the first round of orders our stock should be here from suppliers in the next 1-2 weeks. We will be looking at a second round of orders in the next two weeks. If you are requiring items just let Jodie or Mark know. The merchandise price list and order form is attached with the newsletter. The new style hoodies have been very popular Our lovely model Zoe here is wearing one for you to see! There will also be a merchandise display up in the clubrooms shortly along with ordering details. Any questions or for further details contact Jodie or Mark Riley: Jodie or (home) Mark or mriley@petrusma.com.au PLAYING FOR THE KINGBOROUGH TIGERS In the off season our Director or Coaching Leigh Collidge and other wise gents in our Football Department developed a Coaching Philosophy document which has been discussed and adopted by each of our coaches. A small component of this coaching philosophy concerns player discipline and on-field behaviour. To ensure all players and parents are aware of what is expected and the consequences of poor behaviour we can advise the following.. The KTFC Junior and Youth Division is all about creating an environment where players: Play for their teammates Care only about the success of the team Are at their best when they do something small or big that benefits their teammates Show respect for their teammates, coaches, support staff and any other person representing the club. Being yellow, or red carded in a game goes against all of the attributes that foster the environment described above. Therefore, once a player receives two cards (whether yellow or red) the coach will impose a one week playing suspension. Should a player be reported, and given a suspension by the STJFL the club will also impose its own suspension. Being sent off in a game disadvantages the team, shows disrespect for the rules of the game and brings the image of our club into disrepute. It will therefore not be tolerated.
AUSKICK Please register at Contact our registrar Sally Donnelly if you have any queries SPREAD THE WORDABOUT AUSKICK Our Auskick programme will begin on Friday 24 th April at Kingston Beach Oval. The sessions run from 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm and each week we will be joined by Tigers players and coaches for coaching, activities and small sided matches. We will aim for ten sessions, allowing for school holidays and wet weather cancellations. This should take us up to the end of July or early August. The cost for Auskick is only $70 which includes a fantastic backpack full of goodies. REGISTRATION If you are yet to pay your child s registration please do so as soon as possible. This can be done by credit card by logging back into Sporting Pulse the same way you did when registering OR via EFT to Kingborough Tigers Football Club BSB: , Account No: Use surname and age group as a reference. Any queries regarding registration please don t hesitate to contact Sally Donnelly on or sallycm@bigpond.net.au JUNIOR & YOUTH COACHING APPOINTMENTS Announcing our latest coaching appointments: Under 14 (B Division): Wayne Morgan & Warwick Ashlin Under 13: Duane Baker and Matthew Fletcher Under 9: Glenn Marriott, Brad Marsh and Nick Bradford It is pleasing to see that many teams and age groups have adopted a shared coaching model this season. This allows for flexibility around work commitments and training and also shares the load amongst more people. TO GIVE AWAY As the result of our renovations three items must go. - One air hockey table (may have paddles, but no puck) - One large pool table - One Chef Majestic free standing stove with coil hotplates. Please contact Mark Riley if you are interested. Phone You must be able to transport the items. MASTERS FOOTY Invitation to all dads in the Club.. Come and give AFL Masters Football a try. Anyone over 30 can play in the local competition. The National Carnival is in Tasmania in October this year and is open to anyone in these age groups: over 35s, 40s, 45s, 50s and 55s. Kingborough Masters train at Kingston Beach Oval each Wednesday 6-7pm followed by a couple of social drinks. The local competition has games every second Sunday starting May 10th. You don t have to be available for every game, so just come for a kick when you can. For information contact Warwick Ashlin on or washlin@bigpond.net.au
UNDER 12 DEVELOPMENT SQUAD There is a National AFL Carnival for Under 12 footballers from all around Australia. Players from schools and junior competitions around Tasmania were nominated by their regions TSL Clubs to participate in selection matches. AFL Tasmania selected 48 boys to compete in the Blue vs Gold match held today at Queenborough Oval. The boys will play another series of matches in Launceston next Thursday and from there potentially go on to train as a State team to play in the School Sports Australia National Carnival in Sydney from July 18 th to 25 th. This is a very exciting opportunity and we congratulate the following Kingborough Under 12 players on being selected to try out for State team selection. From left: George Stevenson, Sam Kelly, Ryan Gale, Kayne Wouters, Joe Harrison and Jack Ross. UNDER 15 DEVELOPMENT SQUAD The Tigers have an outstanding representation amongst the top Under 15 footballers in Southern Tasmania with 11 boys taking part in today s Southern Squad selection match. This is more than any other TSL Club and is exciting for the future of our football club. Congratulations to Joey Dalco, Ben Donnelly, Jack Freeman, Lachlan Gadomski, Lucas Griggs, Jack Howarth, Tyler Hughes, Caleb Oakes (injured), Piripi Reihana, Kayne Riley and Ethan Brock. Normally Under 16 team mates, Pip Reihana and Jack Howarth were in opposing teams today. Lachy Gadomski in action

2015 CANTEEN OPERATIONS Volunteers will be needed! As many of you know our canteen has traditionally been run on a Sunday by the Under 14 age group and supported by volunteers during the day. This was done as a percentage of the takings from the canteen were put towards the under 14 player s trip. The Club no longer supports a player s trip to Melbourne so a new method of management needed to be adopted. We are pleased to announce that Tammy Hughes, mum of Jacob Hayers (Under 18 s) and Matthew Hayers (Under 14 s) has agreed to act as the canteen coordinator. Her role includes administration, preparation, supervision and supported shutdown. Tammy will be the key contact and driver of canteen operations over the course of the year with support provided by Wayne Morgan and Cherie Pride. Thank you Tammy! CANTEEN ON SUNDAYS Sunday operations will continue to require the support of volunteers throughout the day. Teams playing at Kingston Beach Oval will be required to supply two parents to run the canteen for the duration of their game. (Often two parents do one half of the match and another two parents do the second half. At times where two Under 8 or two Under 9 games are played at the same time each team can supply one volunteer each. The Team Managers will organise a roster amongst the parents. One of the innovations that parents have introduced is swapping their shift with parents from the game before, or the game after their own so that all parents can watch their children play. Please note that both the first game of the day and and last game of the day teams will need to start a little earlier and finish a little later to support prep and clean up. Cherie will let team managers know all the details shortly. CANTEEN ON FRIDAY NIGHTS 5.00 to 7.00 We were ecstatic with the move last season to Friday night Auskick for many reasons. The move meant Tigers TSL coaches and players were able to support us in the delivery of a fantastic Auskick programme. It was a far cry from those Sunday mornings where (for us longer serving soles) were left to our own devices. Last year we decided to open the canteen to provide some hot food for both parents and kids. As the under 14 parents also ran this canteen (where did they get the energy!) we will now need to source volunteers to help Tammy run this night also. Auskick parents themselves will be involved in the activities with the children so we could really use some volunteers from other age groups on Friday nights. Anyone interested in supporting the Friday night canteen should contact Wayne Morgan in the first instance and once we have an idea of volunteers we can structure up a roster to cover Friday nights. WHEN YOU SEE THE RENOVATIONS THAT HAVE TAKEN PLACE IN THE CANTEEN YOU WILL DEFINITELY BE HAPPY TO VOLUNTEER!! STJFL PARTNERS JUNIOR AND YOUTH DIVISION PARTNERS
Tiger Talk All the latest news from the Twin Ovals MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT The Tigers 2015 season is up and running and I m sure that all Tigers supporters were waiting with anticipation to see how much their young team had improved over the summer. I know that all at the club have been working overtime to improve on all aspects of our inaugural season. The club was pleased to announce that Subway had agreed to continue its naming Rights Partnership with the club for the 2015 season as well adding Harcourts Kingston, QBE, MyState, 9/11 Bottleshops and Choices as Support Partners. For those supporters that went to the game on Good Friday, they would have noticed a significant change in the fence signage around the ground. We have been very pleased with the amount of new businesses that have chosen the Tigers and the Twin Ovals as a place to advertise. Another bonus for the club was the partnership formed with Electric World Betta Living Kingston which gives all club members a direct benefit from their Kingston store. Congratulations must go club Sponsorship Co-ordinator Brendan Wilson who worked tirelessly to improve the Tigers position within the business community. It is also great to see that the merger between the KTFC and the KTJFC is now complete making the KTFC one of the largest AFL clubs in Tasmania. The Board of the KTFC will continue to work cohesively with the Management committees of the club to make sure that we continue to grow moving forward. On behalf of the Board, I would like to wish the Junior & Youth Management Committee and all our young players the very best for the 2015 season. I look forward to seeing our supporters at the Twin Ovals this year to watch our boys strive for improvement and that first Senior win. Steve Old President, Kingborough Tigers FC FROM THE FOOTBALL DEPARTMENT The Tigers season kicked off on Good Friday at the Twin Ovals and our boys were very keen to put on a show for the supporters of the Club plus supporters watched the Development team work hard in their game showing all that the more they play together the better they will get. It was great to see 8 under 16s State Squad members playing in the game. The Senior game was played at a very high standard and the crowd saw the signs of a massive pre-season and a year s growth in the Tigers game. The boys played hard and fast and showed that they will be a challenge to all teams in the TSL and that that first win is not far away. After a year in recess the Club was very pleased to see our Under 18s run out after the Senior game to take on North Hobart. The hard work and commitment from the coaches and players in that group over the pre-season has been excellent. The boys put in a great effort in their first game only going down by the last kick of the day. Fantastic crowd support for the Tigers first game of the season
PHOTOS FROM GOOD FRIDAY - TIGERS V HOBART CITY Marcus Gardner rucking, James McIndoe ready to receive the ball Brad Conway marks strongly An Adam Golding determined tackle James McIndoe Chris Neild kept the pressure on Hobart City the whole game
FROM THE CLUB The club would like to thank our band of volunteers that have again committed to support the Club in the 2015 season. They were put under enormous pressure on Good Friday from the very large crowd with gatekeepers, kiosk staff and support crews really under the pump, but at the end of the day everyone was in the ground, fed and we got three excellent games away, so congratulations to all. The Senior boys travel to Devonport to take on the newly badged and highly fancied Devonport. Our Development team travels to Aurora on Saturday to take on North Launceston and our Under 18s travel to New Norfolk to take on the Eagles. We wish all our boys safe travelling and the best of luck. The next home game is on the 18 th of April against the Glenorchy Magpies and we hope that all our supporters come out in the same numbers as the Good Friday game.
