1 Waimak United Football Club Is proud to host the Alan Fraser Memorial Girls Tournament 14 th & 15 th July 2018 This Program is proudly Sponsored by:
2 WELCOME Waimak United Football Club to like to extend a warm welcome to all players, coaches, managers, referees, tournament officials and supporters. This year is our fourth year in hosting the AFM tournament. We are excited to host three grades in the tournament: 10 th 12 th and 14 th grades. With 25 competing, this is our biggest AFM tournament to date! Waimak United are passionate about growing the girls game here. We hope this tournament goes someway to assisting clubs to create an environment for girls to have fun and become life long footballers. The AFM tournament is an opportunity for around 300 girls to gather and show off their skills and dedication to our beautiful game. We are pleased to welcome teams travelling from outside our district; from Christchurch, Selwyn, Mid Canterbury, Dunedin and Nelson. Thank you for your efforts to attend the tournament and we wish you safe travels. Good luck and we hope you enjoy the weekend. Regards, Waimak United Football Club Contacts Tournament Controller: Operations Queries: Shane Verma Amy Pawson
3 Alan Fraser MBE Alan Fraser showed a visionary eye at a remarkably young age. Fraser founded the Canterbury Junior Football Association at the age of 19 years, in 1952 after leaving Christchurch Boys High. Along with other keen North Cantabrians, Fraser started Rangiora AFC from scratch in Back then there was a few eager souls who attended the first meeting. Now the club which merged with Kaiapoi Town AFC to create Waimakariri United has grown in side and is one of the largest football clubs in the South Island and caters for both male and female players of all abilities. Fraser moved to Auckland from Christchurch in 1984 and became secretary of Auckland Football, then going on to lead until the turn of the millennium when the current federation structure was formed. Fraser played an important role in assimilating girls and women s football into Auckland Football structures and was President of the NZ Women s FA in the 1990 s. Fraser left Auckland to spend his twilight years in the South with his family. He became President of the Canterbury Football Association and joined the Mainland Football Association board in 2002, retiring from his role in his seventies after 55 years as an administrator of the game. Alan Fraser is survived by his wife Loris and has many grandchildren who are carrying on his passion and infectious enthusiasm for football th Grade Campions: Waimak Black Runners-up: Waimak White 3 rd Place: Parklands Alan Fraser Memorial Girls Tournament Previous Winners th Grade Champions: Waimak Runners-up: Parklands 3 rd Place: Cashmere Technical th Grade Champions: Waimak Grey Runners-up: Ferrymead Bays 3 rd Place: Waimak Red th Grade Champions: Halswell Runners-up: Nomads 3 rd Place: Cashmere Technical th Grade Champions: Southern Girls Runners-up: Redwood Bobcats 3 rd Place: Waimak White th Grade Champions: Waimak Grey Runners-up: Selwyn 3 rd Place: Parklands
