2 From the General Manager Happy New Year to you all. It has been a great start to the year with plenty of action on the golf course and a hive of activity around the sporting and recreation facilities at Pulse. Tickets to the Wet and Wild offsite excursion were booked out, be sure to stay tuned for future events and remember to book your places early! There will also be a change to the onsite General Manager of Community and Golf Operations. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for a wonderful 2 years in the role. It has been a pleasure working with you to enhance the community and lifestyle services and I look forward to seeing further development as I undertake my new role at Clublinks. With this, we are pleased to announce the appointment of our new General Manager, Andrew Williams. Andrew s previous experience is within the hospitality and local government areas, CONTENT NEEDED having spent many years with the Mounties Group of Clubs, Georges River Council and as the General Manager of the Port Kembla Golf Club & Comfort Inn Fairways Hotel. Andrew is looking forward to growing the community we live in, as well as present new and exciting community events to the area. This year you will see some changes to the Clublinks team. Firstly, I would like to welcome our new Community Manager, Richard Keyte. Richard is based at our Head Office in Melbourne and will be onsite to meet you all soon. Please welcome Andrew and Richard to the team, we are all looking forward to the year ahead. Best wishes, Tina Council News Wollondilly Shire Council have issued the following reminder of Heavy Vehicle Parking Rules in their Summer Newsletter Edition 2017: Following a recent increase in complaints regarding heavy and long vehicles parking in built up areas, we wanted to remind residents and vehicle owners of the rules around this type of activity. Road Rules 2014 (State Government Legislation) state that a driver of a heavy or long vehicle must not stop on a length of road in a built-up area for longer than one hour, unless the driver is permitted to stop due to traffic information they have received (sub rule (2A), (2A-1) or (2A-2). a) Buildings, not over 100m apart, on land next to the road; b) Street lights not over 100m apart. A heavy vehicle is defined as a vehicle with a GVM of 4.5 tonnes or more and a long vehicle is a vehicle that, together with any load or projection is 7.5meters long or longer. If you are the driver or registered owner of a heavy and long vehicle, please ensure you follow the Road Rules 2014 Legislation to avoid getting a Penalty Infringement Notice. 4 THE BINGARA GOLF SERIES The launch of the summer series in December 2017 has shown great success and attracted many golfers to the newly introduced competition format. The summer series is an eclectic competition where the best stableford score from each individual hole over the summer series events, totals a final stableford score for each participant. There is an additional $1000 prize pool for the summer series winners! So far the Summer Series has seen over 180 players hit the fairways and over $1,100 in prizes given out already. There are still a few events to be played before the summer series concludes on the 25th February So book in quick! JUNIOR GOLF The Bingara junior golf program is back again, starting early February! The program runs during school term dates for approximately 6 weeks. We cater for junior golfers from no experience to advance junior golfers aged between 6-12 years. If you think your child may be the next tour champion, the golf program is a great place to learn new skills, play on course with a PGA professional and make friends with other junior golfers at Bingara. If you would like more information or to book a spot in this exciting program, please our golf professional Keiran Bish on golfops@bingara.net.au LADIES GOLF CLASSES - back early February 2018 You walk into the golf leisure shop at pulse reception, sit down in the cafe area with our resident golf professional Keiran, have a casual chat together about golf and ask a few questions. You really like how encouraging everyone is and can t believe most of the other ladies have similar questions too. You soon realise most golfers are at the beginner stage like you and some things you were worried about are all forgotten. wow - this actually exists! Come and join the ladies high tee classes on Wednesdays at 10:30 if you would like to be a part of a casual and relaxed golf class where you will learn golf skills in a fun and exciting environment. This is an ongoing issue and going forward, if you are found to be in breach of the gym rules, you will be issued with a warning letter. Repeat offenders will have their access suspended for a period of two weeks. Clean up after yourself. Wiping down machines is a chore with serious payoffs. No one wants a side of germs with their workout so grab a gym wipe and do your fellow gym-goers a solid and wipe down every piece of equipment you use. Wax on, wax off! Bring a towel. Use it. TENNIS UPDATE TENNIS COACHING AT PULSE TENNIS COURTS Sarah Benad Tennis is now taking new enrolments for Term 1 which commenced on the 30th January A free trial lesson is available for all new students and a free t-shirt will also be given if you commit to a full term. Private ($32 for 30mins), Semi-Private ($16 for 30mins) and Group Lessons ($12 for 30mins) for both children and adults are available. All previous lessons automatically roll over into Term 1. Whilst everyone hates doing laundry, everyone also hates using sweaty machinery after someone who hasn t used a towel. An extra towel or two a week won t do you damage and may just save your gym buddy from getting sick! Gyms can be some of the most germ-ridden places you visit. One study in a gym found that 63% of gym equipment showed the presence of rhinovirus (which causes the common cold), with weight training equipment more affected than cardio machines. Viruses love nonporous surfaces such as steel weights in particular. So, for both your own sake and the sake of other gym-goers, use that towel and wipe down equipment after use! 5

7 Balsamic roast tomato and ricotta pasta INGREDIENTS 250g vine-ripened cherry tomatoes 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze 2 tablespoons olive oil 2 cups (300g) frozen broad beans 200g fresh ricotta or smooth ricotta 1/2 cup (40g) finely grated parmesan 375g fresh lasagne sheets, torn into strips 1/3 cup (90g) basil pesto 1/2 cup basil leaves 120g pkt Baby Rocket Step 1 Preheat oven to 180C. Line a baking tray with baking paper. Place the tomatoes on the tray. Drizzle with balsamic glaze and half the oil. Season. Roast for mins or until tomatoes begin to collapse. Step 2 Meanwhile, cook the broad beans in a medium saucepan of boiling water for 2 mins or until heated through. Refresh under cold water. Peel. Step 3 Combine the ricotta and parmesan in a small bowl. Season. Step4 Cook the pasta in a large saucepan of boiling water for 1-2 mins or until tender. Drain well. Return to pan. Add tomatoes, pesto, broad beans, basil, rocket, remaining oil and half the ricotta mixture. Gently toss to combine. Divide among serving bowls. Top with the remaining ricotta mixture. 7
