5 Ladies Club News & Results...Ladies Club News & Results...Ladies Club News & Results Hi Ladies, There was a great turnout for our Captains Drive-In and whilst I was dreading it I actually had a very enjoyable day with my playing partners Captain Ollie, Junior Captain Daniel, and Joe Coates. Thanks to all of you who came out to support us. We had another great day on Wednesday last with the frogs and I m delighted to say we raised 600 for Cancer research. The draw for the Easter hamper took place last Saturday and the lucky winner was Mary O Halloran with Jamie drawing out the winning ticket. Thanks to all, your support was appreciated. The Minor Cup team will play their first match at the Curragh Golf Club against Athy on Saturday 28th of April. The Challenge Cup match will be against Portarlington on 16th of April at Cill Dara golf club. Also good luck to our mixed team on Sunday. Our next big day will be Vice Captain Betty s Day on Sunday 29th of April. ( Once you are on the club website you will have to navigate to the Members Online Booking page. If you click on the Click here to register button this will open up the registration form. You simply need to fill in the form. Your USERNAME will be a unique number, the text to the right of the Username: box will indicate what this number should be. If you are in Ireland your USERNAME will be your 8 digit GUI number. The address you provide us with will also be important, as this will be used to confirm all bookings. New User Registration Process All HowDidiDo users are now required to register to use the service. 8 PRO Report PRO Report The NA.G.S. are off on tour on Monday April 23rd to Enniscorthy GC. We are looking to get a full house for our first outing which is a minimum of 28 players. This outing is remarkabe 50euro and it includes coach, brekkie, golf, dinner and prizes, so please put down your name and lets have a great outing. We require a 20 euro deposit by April 15th latest. Put monies into envelope with you name and mark it Enniscorthy. Our first Seniors Open, over 50s is on April 18th and please support this series in To be honest we have struggled with this competition over the past two years and we ask for a special effort this year. Our Super Seniors, over 70s, are playing in this event for the first time and we wish them the best of luck. We play our first game at home against Charlesland GC on thurs April 19th and please give them your support. Wishing all our teams, Ladies and Gents, all the very best of luck in all competitions and hopefully we will win some pendants during the year. Lastly, our 3 year Development plan which was presented to members at our Captains Drive in day was very impressive and all members are asked to support this undertaking and play their part over the next three years. To be the best takes a hell of a lot of hard work but if everyone does a little, we can achieve our goals. As you might expect, there is a core of enthusiastic Club Members who love Representing our Club in these matches, but fresh faces, from both existing Members and New Club Members are both necessary and actively encouraged. These matches are a great way of integrating into all aspects of YOUR CLUB, but, more than that, there is no comparison in the game of Golf, than representing YOUR CLUB at the Annual All Ireland Finals, and maybe culminating in bringing home to YOUR CLUB, one of those elusive Pennants and Silverware. Not only will it enhance your own Golf Skills to a higher level, but most of all they are great fun to play in. There is a range of competitions to cater For all Handicaps within our Club, so Please do consider putting yourself forward for selection, on one of the Panel Sheets that is displayed in the club's Locker Rooms, or alternately contact the respective Team Manager

10 2018 Leinster Golf Inter Club Fixtures/Results/Reports The All Ireland Fourball match The Royal Curragh v Newbridge Golf 31th- Mar matches away & 2 at Home (Report from Royal Curragh) Our players looked splendid in their home Team-Colours. It was cold & windy, you wouldn t put a Polar Bear out on a day like that. It was great to see Newbridge supporters to cheer on our Team both home & away. 3 Teams: Fran & Kevin, John & Billy & Lorcan & Mick. All looking a little nervous. A good start by all 3 teams, after 2 holes (1up, 1 down & A/SQUARE) After 6 holes (2down, A/S & 2down) Very tricky pin positions, fast Greens & Couse playing Long. Fran & Kevin playing well, missing a few tricky putts John finding things difficult, Billy playing good golf & holding things together All things changed around the 8th, 9th & 10th Fran & Kevin back to 1-down, both putting well and unlucky not to be A/S John & Billy, both playing well now 1 up. John said he is always better on back-9. Lorcan & Mick, both happier now Lorcan finding his swing but 3 down. At this stage at Home Mick & Sean 9th, followed by Jim & Dave 9th With Dave chipping in on the 7th. Back to the Curragh: Fran & Kevin lost the Par-3 11th & won 12 to stay 2 down John & Billy won Par-3 11th & 12th going 3 up Lorcan & Mick, at this stage are 4 down. Word from Newbridge both teams 2 up, keep going lads we can win this! Fran & Kevin halved 13, 14 & 15 still 2 down. John & Billy lost 13 & 14 to Go A/S with 3 to play. I stayed with John & Billy for the next 3 holes ( this is the crunch match) Being up by 2 in both matches at Home. Then some bad NEWS from Home Mick & Sean now 1 up Jim & Dave A/S (OH! Sh1t) At the 16th Fran & Kevin are 2 down. Both the Curragh players 6-8ft from Pin Fran got his Par, but sad to say The Curragh got their Bird. We lost 3&2 Well played by both Fran & Kevin (Thanks lads) Back to Lorcan & Mick, both on Song back to 2 down with 3 to Play Can they get a half????? Again back to 16th Par-3. John on front edge 20-25ft in one. Billy hits the bank at back of Green Ball rolls back to within 6ft, great shot! The Curragh, one short in bunker, the other Long right Curragh missed both Par putts, John putt pin high 6inches Billy got his Bird. (1 up 2 to Play) Were still in with a chance! Newbridge: Mick got Bird on 17th to WIN 3 UP Jim & Dave 1 up with two to Play. Were still holding on! Curragh 17th. All 4 players short of Green in 2-shots All within 10ft after 3-shots, a tricky Pin on a little mound. All 4 missed Par putts. Curragh with a 5, Billy lipped the hole, o sugar But it fell in! ( 1 UP & 1 to Play) no nails left!!!!! Word from Newbridge: Dave got Bird on 17th to WIN 2&1 Lorcan & Mick lost Par-3 16th, Losing 3&2 On the 18TH. John with a cracker down the middle, Billy shot even better. Nearly there Lads!. The Curragh: Knock down short left, & Another cracker down the middle. The Curragh: Poor shot down the left, behind Trees. Squeaky bum time. John good shot 6ft short front of Green, followed by Billy 10ft short front. The Curragh: 30ft right of Pin high in 2, other player in Bunker in 4 shots. The Curragh: over shoots Green to join his partner in Bunker. (Not Happy) John & Billy chip to within 6 & 10ft respectively. Curragh Player 1 ball is plugged followed by a duff shot & pick up! Curragh Player 2 on the Green 12-15ft, putting first for a 5# & got it. Billy for Par & Win, 1ft short & in his excitement, pickup Ball & no marker#### John for Par & Win or 5 for a Half! You will not believe what happened next? A Par & WE WON THE MATCH 3&2 against THE ROYAL Curragh Well done to all Players on the Panel & The Golfers on the Day. Next up: Craddockstown. 12 The Date for the Men's Club 9h Qualifier is Saturday/Sunday 19th & 20th May Leinster Golf Inter Club Fixtures/Results/Reports All Ireland Fourball Report from Newbridge Matches Despite it being such a cold blustery day, the Newbridge home team of Mick Kenny/Sean O Drona + Dave Fox/Jim Russell came through to win their matches in Newbridge on Saturday last. With the long game of Mick Kenny, and with the short game prowess of his partner Sean O Drona, the Curragh had no answer! Once these boys went 1up early, they were always in control, and with them being 2up going down 17, the win was looking likely. When Mick landed his 2nd shot a few feet from the pin, it was game over! The 2nd match proved a much tighter affair, with no team being able to pull away from the other. Jim showed some great coolness to hole a few putts to keep the pressure on, and with a great pitch in from Dave for the birdie on 7 to win the hole, there was no doubt to all present, that this game was going to the wire, and so it proved! With Newbridge holding a 1up advantage down 17, it boiled down to what team was going to hole out first. Jim was dead for Par, matched by the Curragh, so it was left to Dave to see if he could seal the win. Seal the win he did, with a tremendous putt, the roar from the Newbridge support could surely be heard up in the Curragh! What a great performance by these two teams, roll on the next match!
