3 CCC Welcomes New October Members Jeff Leavitt ~ Associate Stockholder James Wright ~ Associate Stockholder Dear Members, Fall is one of my favorite times of the year at CCC. The temperature is cooler, the humidity is lower, and the leaves begin to turn. Meanwhile, the golf course is in perhaps the best condition ever. Together, that makes this a great time to walk 9 or 18 holes, or meet a few folks for happy hour before we re immersed in the hectic holiday season. In a few weeks we ll celebrate Thanksgiving, and there s much to be thankful for. I m thankful to be a member of our club. I m thankful for friends old and new I ve met here. And I m thankful for our outstanding staff and diligent board that keep the club running smoothly. Speaking of the board, Keith Chichester has been appointed following our bylaws to fill the term of Sam Schneider, who sadly passed away in October. The board named Chuck Howell as treasurer. And speaking of our great staff, the next time you see Jackie Simpson, please give her a hug and tell her welcome back. She s been missed. 4 A Word From The Tee... One Day Member - Guest Friday, November 17th, 2017 Entry Fee: $30 per person plus cart fee 12:00pm shotgun start The One Day Member-Guest is back!!! What a fantastic opportunity to invite a friend, colleague or acquaintance to experience CCC. The event includes drinks on the course and prizes. The format is best ball gross and net of the team. Teams will be pre-flighted based on team handicap and participation level. A sign up sheet is posted in the golf shop. Sports Committee Fundraiser Saturday, December 9th 10:00 shotgun start Entry fee: $25 per player plus cart fee The year-end fundraiser is back and the format is the popular Texas Scramble (4 man or 4 woman teams). All members are encouraged to participate in the tournament or support the event through a donation. Guests are welcome and must have a verifiable USGA handicap and will be required to pay the $25 entry fee as well as cart fees for the day. Here's how it works: For all Golf Equipment, which includes clubs, balls, golf bags and golf shoes buyer's club members will pay cost plus shipping plus 10%. For Soft Goods, which includes men's and ladies apparel, club members will pay 20% off the member price. It doesn't take much to realize $150 in savings. If you support "your" CCC Golf Shop when you buy anything golf related, you contribute to the bottom line of the club AND YOU SAVE MAJOR BUCKS! Please note, these discounts apply to all special order items however, the corresponding UPS charge will be added before any discount is calculated. YEAR END SWEEPS BALANCES In an effort to clean up the books and provide accurate accounting information all sweeps balances will be brought to zero December 31st, Please spend your sweeps prior to December 31st, 2017 to avoid losing them altogether.

6 As November approaches, the trees have begun to drop their leaves and the cool weather has slowed any turf growth. We received our first frost of the season earlier this week and expect more in the coming weeks. Typically, we do not receive a heavy frost until closer to Thanksgiving, which should allow us to retain our turf color for a few more weeks. Last month we applied our preventative fungicide applications to the greens and collars to control Spring Dead Spot. We also overseeded the Driving Range Tee, Short Game Tee and Chipping area with Perennial Ryegrass. The seed has germinated and looks good, over the coming weeks we will begin mowing and returning these areas to normal playing conditions. In addition, we will be starting additional concrete cart path repairs around the golf course. I would like to remind everyone to modify their walking and cart traffic patterns during the winter months. Wet winter conditions plus repetitive traffic patterns cause damage to the turf and will slow its springtime recovery. Thanks for your cooperation and support! Golf Course Superintendent October has blessed us with amazing weather. I hope everyone had a chance to enjoy the golf course this past month. Looking ahead November promises to be a busy month. Please check the calendar for events at the club. Now is a good time to remind everyone about some basic club rules that will ensure the total enjoyment of CCC by everyone. First, there are no five-somes at CCC unless authorized by the golf shop. Second, there should be no more than two golf carts per group. And third, practicing on the golf course is prohibited. If everyone will abide by these simple rules it will make CCC a more enjoyable place to play. When daylight savings time ends on November 5th please note the change in hours of operation for the golf shop and driving range. The golf shop and driving range will close at 5:00pm. This allows us to pick the driving range before dark. Please be through hitting balls by 5:00pm. The golf staff thanks you in advance for you cooperation. The next big events will be the One-Day Member Guest, Turkey Scramble, Golf Shop Open House and the Sports Committee Fundraiser. As you can see November will be an extremely busy month at the club. 7 Well the cooler weather is finally here and it couldn't have come too soon! The Senior Women's Championship was held October 24th and 25th. Carole Stone was the low gross winner and Hilda Hall was the low net winner. In addition to enjoying two beautiful days of golf, we also celebrated the installation of the new forward tees with cake and champagne! The final league match will be Wednesday, November 8th at Woodcreek. We had strong teams in both leagues this year and look forward to increasing the number of women playing on our teams next year. The LGA Christmas party will be Wednesday, December 6th at 6 PM. Please sign up by December 1st on the sheet in the locker room or by calling Heather. We will be having dinner and a gift swap and will also be announcing the winners of the yearly games. This is always a fun event so make plans now to attend. All for now.
