The FSGA gave me a computer program to use for inputting scores. Jim, Laura and I used scorecards from member s play and put them in the computer hole by hole. We also had to input the person s handicap for each score entered. On the men s side we used over 1000 rounds and on the women's side it was over 700 scores so it took a while to put them all in. To get the hole handicaps you divide the scores into two groups; the better handicap players scores are in one group and higher handicap players scores are in the other group. The computer program then takes the difference each group scored on each hole and the hole with the largest difference becomes the #1 handicap hole and so on until all holes are ranked. It's a bit complicated so I hope I have described it well enough, if you have any questions about it please feel free to come by and I will walk you through the process. If you are playing on these days, you need to be aware of the pace of play. That is, you may play the first nine holes in less than 1 hour and 50 minutes but you may have to WAIT 1

2 to start the last nine holes. The players with tee times take priority over cross over play. The Member/MemberTournament is scheduled for February 18th and 19th. Men play from the Gold Tees and Women play from the Silver Tees. The format will be one best ball 90% handicap for the men and 95% handicap for the women, based on the February 15th posting. Depending on the number of entries the field will be flighted based on team handicap. The entry fee will be $5/per person plus $15 for lunch (including tax and tip) on the 19 th. Lunch will feature your choice of Turkey Wrap or Baked Club Sandwich, Pasta Salad, Baked Beans, Tea/Coffee/Soda, and Chocolate Brownie. MMGA Denny Bettisworth The annual MMGA Dinner and Dance was held on January 10, 2015 in The Great Hall. One hundred forty MMGA members and their guests attended. After a social hour, the dinner, that was catered by the Crown and Shield, was served. President Denny Bettisworth acknowledged tournament winners and players who made a hole-in one during the 2014 golfing season. Vice President Nick Vanderworker entertained the group with a MMGA member oriented comedy routine. DJ, Ray Gardner, provided a variety of music for the dancing that followed. with gross and net winners in each flight. The lunch is provided by the MMGA. The sign-up sheet for this event will be posted by Tuesday, March 10. There will be two spaces next to your name on the signup sheet: one for the golf; the other for the lunch. The sign-up deadline is 5:00 PM Sunday, March 15, since the restaurant needs a final count on the lunch numbers by Monday morning. Denny Bettisworth March 18, 2015 is a date to save. The MMGA Stroke-Play Championship, luncheon, and spring business meeting will begin with an 8:00 AM shotgun start for the golf event followed by lunch and the spring business meeting. The fee for the Stroke- Play Championship is $5.00. This is a full handicap event. There will be three flights 2

Members who do not want to play 18 holes can still play to get in a little golf. The nine hole players will not have a game with money in the pot, just play for fun. This is a nice option also when other commitments pop up or hot weather makes 18 holes too difficult. It also means you get to play without having to call for a tee time. Sign up before noon the Tuesday before play. Please welcome Rick Lahrs as a new Limited General Member. Rick and his wife Linda have one daughter and two grandchildren. Rick was a truck driver and enjoys golfing and fishing. Rick Lahrs Of course 18 hole players will still have games with $2 to play and 25 cent side games. Remember everything is net score so anyone could win. Speaking of members, we have 3 new members making our total 59. It has been great fun getting acquainted with new ladies. See you out there. 4 Diane Christie, Entertainment Chair We had a wonderful event at the Crown & Shield with Barry & Nancy. In addition to having time to dance, the game of Name that Tune was played among the 95 people in attendance. This was a very intense event and was so well organized by Barry & Nancy who have been doing this for many years. 4

6 Dona Nash - Chair As of this writing, work by a devoted group of volunteers is underway. With the event three months away you would probably be surprised by the amount of effort already undertaken to insure that The Member/Guest Tournament lives up to the sterling reputation it has earned in the past. Literally hundreds of man-hours of effort go into this event. I believe this tournament is our opportunity to show our family, friends and the community at large what a terrific facility and organization we have. I know that Terry Stephenson, our Superintendent, will insure that the course will shine even brighter than his normal outstanding job. I also know that Linda Eaton, our Food and Beverage Manager, is making plans to show the amazing meals and desserts now possible as a result of her staff and organization. All in all, I think the Committee is on track to present the best tournament ever held at The Monarch at Royal Highlands. With the expansion of the dining room yours and your guests experience will only be enhanced. heartwarming to see the father/son, mother/daughter teams that play almost every year. Ray Gardner has a friend that comes to play every year and it is their methodology for maintaining their friendship over the years. Don t you have someone you would like to begin that sort of tradition with? Please make plans to join us for this wonderful event this year. Finally, the Committee is looking for potential auction items. As an example, we ve had a week in the Great Smokey National Park donated, one of our sponsors donated golf cart seat reupholster and last year we had trips to Inn on the Lakes at Sebring and Sun N Lake at Sebring. Now it s your turn! Take the opportunity to invite someone to enjoy three days of golf, great food and wonderful companionship at our golf course for $300 a team. The tournament is April 9 th, 10th, & 11th, so you have plenty of time to make plans. It is 6
