1 NYTB PROMOTIONAL REPORT: FEBRUARY APRIL 2012 NY-Bred Divisional Awards Ceremony 2011 NY-bred divisional champions and their connections were honored at NYTB s Annual Awards Banquet on April 2, 2012 at the Saratoga National Golf Club in Saratoga Springs, New York. This year s NYTB s Annual Awards Banquet sold over capacity to 225 guests. It began with cocktails, hors d oeuvres and an exquisite dinner. Then, the New York breeding and racing community re-lived the excitement of the best racetrack performances from 2011 by New York-breds before the announcement of the winners in each division. Co-hosts for this year s Awards Banquet were Jason Blewett, handicapper and racing analyst for the New York Racing Association, and former leading New York jockey Richard Migliore, who now serves as a NYRA broadcast analyst and racing office associate. The event received rave reviews from all attendees and participants. NY Breeder Magazine NYTB produced the February, March and April issues of the New York Breeder in print and electronic format. After several months of research, investment, and productions options, NYTB is thrilled to announce that the New York Breeder will be going viral to (approximately 13,000) industry participants nationwide. The first national mailing of the New York Breeder will occur the weekend of May 5, Kentucky Derby week. This fantastic new expansion of the publication will now offer the New York Breeding program with a national presence delivered to everyone s doorstep. Breeders and owners in New York will now have an option to advertise nationally by being included in the New York Breeder. Furthermore, New York specific points of interest, discussions, statistics and focus will be distributed by NYTB nationally. This very well should be considered the largest direct promotional tool that the New York Breeding program has ever engaged with via print media. This investment annually is over $80,000 to the publication. E-Newsletters NYTB published a regular weekly electronic newsletter discussing relevant topics to NY breeders and industry participants. The enewsletter has grown to over 4500 recipients. This electronic communication tool has allowed NYTB to send New York Breeders information that is timely, relevant, and geared to areas of their greatest interest and concern.

Dubbed TAKE2, the program simultaneously creates new avenues for Thoroughbreds after their racing days are over, and expands the demand for the breed in the horse show world. As part of the TAKE2 program, NYTHA, NYRA and NYTB will cosponsor Thoroughbred-only divisions for hunters and jumpers at the Skidmore College Saratoga Classic Horse Show and Saratoga Springs Horse Show in The AA-rated horse shows will be held at Saratoga Race Course this spring. In addition to these contributions NYTB is working with a wide variety of industry organizations in the state to secure long-term funding plans that will protect the future of retired racehorses in New York. 5 Public Relations & Government Affairs In 2012 NYTB has been working extensively with the legislature to introduce a number of bills, which include: 1. A bill to change the stallion lease law from two years to one year. A.9392 (Pretlow) passed the Assembly on April 25 th with no negative votes. Senator McDonald has introduced S.7125 in the Senate and has been referred to the Racing & Wagering Committee. 2. A bill to include language to permit the Fund to carry a balance over from year to year greater than the current $75k limit. A.9778 (Pretlow) has been introduced and is currently in the Assembly Racing & Wagering Committee. Senator McDonald has introduced S.7171 in the Senate and has been referred to the Racing & Wagering Committee. 3. Senator Bonacic has introduced a bill (S.7050) to extend for one year the ability of the Fund to allot Breeders Award cap at 65%, Admin cap at 5% and Promo cap at 6%. The current law is scheduled to sunset on October 28, We have asked Assemblyman Pretlow to introduce this into the Assembly. 4. A bill to modify the language of the purse enrichment law. This bill would clarify that existing purse enrichment allocation percentages to tracks and incentives can be awarded to NY Breds regardless of the type of race it has entered (open or restricted). Senator McDonald has introduced S7390 in the Senate and has been referred to the Racing & Wagering Committee. We have asked Assemblyman Pretlow to introduce this into the Assembly. PAGE 5
