If you have any questions, complaints or compliments that you wish to air about show jumping please let me know. Also please can show holders their prize winners results sheets after each show so that they can be included in the newsletters. My is charlottehouston@nashuaisp.co.za There will be a show jumping officials seminar on 15 and 16 January ; the venue is yet to be decided. This is a great forum to learn more about your sport as well as giving you an insight as to how and why officials make certain decisions. There is a very hectic and exciting coming up from a show jumping perspective with shows virtually every weekend in KZN so there should be lots of great jumping in KZN next year. ***************************************************** 2

3 Junior Team Announced SHOWING Congratulations to the following for making the 2010 Junior ing Team. We wish you all the best at SA Champs with keeping the KZN flag flying in PE in December. Chef de Quipe Catherine Berning CONGRATULATIONS to Christopher Hammond who has been promoted to a National Judge! SA Adult ing Championship From Belinda Weyer SA Champs was held in PE this year, we were welcomed with the most gorgeous weather, soft going and green, green grass! It was heaven! It was my first ever experience being part of a provincial team - and I couldn't ask for a better bunch! We were fortunate to Have Fee Halstead as our Chef de Quipe - with Catherine Berning, Lynette Webber, Robyn Bechard, Vanessa Gilks, myself (Belinda Weyer) and Charlene Penhall making up the team. Most of us were a little inexperienced, but there was a fun, relaxed atmosphere, we laughed at our mistakes and thoroughly enjoyed the show as a team! The venue was not as big as club, and had an easy relaxed country atmosphere! Anthony Kay, one of the show sponsors treated us to a cheese and wine in his lovely home! I had never seen the horsey properties in PE - and I must say - am quite impressed! I was too chicken to do the Working Hunter, so Catherine bravely stepped up to the plate and gave it her best! It was quite a strong course, more than any of our showing diva horses were used to, better suited to an experienced eventer, and poor Remus's short life flashed before him! The devils dyke was just too much for him (don't blame him), and that was enough for him! Brief plea: Come on all you eventers! We need a strong Working Hunter for the team next year! So come on and take up the challenge and come and do the Working Hunter classes! You will clean up! Perfect for those eventers who don't do a good dressage test but are bold in the country! Don t worry if the turn out freaks you out! I am happy to spit on your boots and plait your horse! The fun and games didn't end there, my horse, Lalique, as bomb proof as they get was convinced that the boring brown teddy had a heart beat and teeth, his suspicions were confirmed when the PE wind blew it off the barrel and at his jugular! He refused to go anywhere near it, but completed the rest of the course perfectly! Robyn finished 3rd in the team show riding, finished in top four in the individual working riding, and fourth in show riding! Vanessa came 3rd in Riding (Individual). 3

4 Lynette rode like a star, I was all teary eyed and goose bumps, but Stallions being stallions, he got a little full of him self! Well done to the Eastern Cape for taking top honours! Number for Life At each show you enter, the first thing you need to do is go and fetch your number from the tent. Well, we re making life simpler!! NUMBER FOR LIFE!! This number will be made out of waterproof canvass, it will be smarter than the paper laminated ones so that they go well with your show jacket, there will be holes so that it can be fastened neatly with safety pins on your jacket when you are getting ready for your show, rather than at the show. However, for those that like the string attachment, there will be holes for you as well. It will cost R50 to cover the costs of producing them. Please note that each horse will have it s own number, not each competitor, as many of our competitors ride many different horses. And we have a plan for those that are a little forgetful, if you leave your number at home, we ll have a stock of unallocated numbers which you can pick up from the tent in the usual way as before and return it at the end of the show. New Holding Body Competition A new show holding body is going to be running ing s in the future, they come with some wonderful new ideas, full of enthusiasm and they will do all they can to grow ing as a discipline. This show holding body will operate as a non-profit organization with all profits going straight back into ing! They look forward to all ideas from competitors, judges, stewards, spectators and anybody who has the same interests in improving ing in Natal. To kickstart their team, they are looking for a name, please me on gmcneill@telkomsa.net with what you think will be a good name for this new Holding Body.
