3 Page 26 Page 3 Chairman s message Welcome to the Holyport Village Show Schedule for I hope that as you look through you will find classes that you would like to enter. Given the changes we made last year, we are leaving well alone to let it settle down this year. We have, however, introduced one new class, Orchids, to improve further the display of flowers at the show. The Butterfly Cake class that we introduced last year for Juniors didn t have a trophy. As every other Junior class has one, this year we will add the Birrell Salver for Class 869. I must stress the importance of adhering to the rules for entries. Despite the apparent pedantry they are there to ensure a level playing field and to protect the health of the judges! Once again we had instances of entries being disqualified as they ignored simple rules. We don t think that the rules are particularly onerous or vague; if you have a query contact us either directly or via the Holyport Community Page on Facebook. Entry forms for Groups 1 to 8 may be submitted at any time but the final date for their receipt is the 1 st September. The entries themselves must be presented by 10:15 a.m. on Saturday the 8 th September. For Group 9 the closing date is the 7 th July, ready for judging on the 14 th July. Entry forms may be submitted to any of the people named below but, if you are submitting them during the last few days before the closing date, please take them directly to Malcolm Burch in Springfield Park. There are many people who help with the running of the show on the day and the committee is most grateful to them. Each year about 30 stewards help competitors and judges. This year, half-a-dozen of our regular stewards will be unable to attend. If you would like to help at the show or learn more about it please contact any of the committee members listed below.
