SECTION CERTIFICATES WILL BE AWARDED TO THE 1ST - 2ND - 3RD - WINNERS - TO BE PRESENTED AT THE STEWARD S DESK AT THE PRESENTATION TIPS FOR SHOW BAKING Read your schedule carefully for what is being asked for. Check the schedule for the size / shape of the tin to be used. Line your tins very carefully. All cakes should not have any cooling rack marks on the bottom - use a tea-towel on the rack, when the cake comes out of the oven - leave in the tin for approximately 10 minutes. Make sure the size required of any slices is exact. Scones should not have an excessive amount of flour on the bottom. Also, check the size that is required, and the shape. Anzac biscuits should snap. Use the freshest of all baking ingredients for great success. Weigh all of your ingredients carefully - do not use your eyes for correct quantities - it can throw a recipe out completely. All baking, - whether it is scones, pikelets, muffins, biscuits, shortbread, or slices, will be broken by the judge, which should be tasted, and to see the texture, also, the even distribution of the ingredients, and the outward appearance of an entry. The highest marks go for the flavour and the aroma, - as this will eventually be the decision made for the winning exhibit. Unfortunately, not every judge will taste, - just go by the looks. NEVER CLEAN YOUR OVEN ON THE DAY OF BAKING: Don t clean your oven the day you choose to do your show baking the cleaning odours may still linger! AN OVERALL CERTIFICATE TO ALL WINNERS WILL BE AWARDED ONLY at the presentation WITH A TROPHY or CERTIFICATE - (WHATEVER THE CASE MAY BE) - with sponsored goods, (or money which may be given).
