Attached is the 2013 UTSA Football Visiting Team Guide. This guide should assist you as you make arrangements for your trip to San Antonio, as well as provide you with information pertaining to game-day operations at the Alamodome. Please feel free to share this document with members of your coaching staff and administration. Additionally, please be sure to complete and return the team, spirit squad and band travel forms which will help us in planning for your arrival. 5 San Antonio, South Texas, and UTSA s Main Campus THE CITY San Antonio, Texas, is located in Bexar County in the south central region of the state of Texas. Famous for its Spanish missions, The Alamo, The River Walk, the Tower of the Americas, the Valero Alamo Bowl, and host to SeaWorld and Six Flags Fiesta Texas theme parks, the city is visited by approximately 26 million tourists per year according to the San Antonio Convention and Visitors Bureau. The city is home to the fourtime NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs and the annual San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, one of the largest in the country. San Antonio has a strong military presence and is home to Fort Sam Houston, Lackland Air Force Base, Randolph Air Force Base, and Brooks City-Base, with Camp Bullis and Camp Stanley located outside the city. San Antonio is home to five Fortune 500 companies and to the South Texas Medical Center, the only medical research and care provider in the South Texas region. The local commercial airport is the San Antonio International Airport (airport code- SAT) and can be accessed off Loop 410. Located in the north central section of the city, all of San Antonio s tourist attractions are only a short drive away. CAMPUS Established in 1969, the University of Texas at San Antonio has an enrollment of more than 39,000 students and is located in the northwest side of San Antonio. The UTSA Main Campus can be accessed from Interstate 10 by taking the UTSA Boulevard exit. You also can access the UTSA campus from the Loop 1604 by taking the La Cantera Parkway exit. 5

6 The Alamodome The Alamodome is the home stadium of UTSA Football. It has a seating capacity of 65,000 with 50 luxury suites. Opened in 1993, The Alamodome was previously home to the NBA s San Antonio Spurs and the CFL s San Antonio Texans in The facility also has hosted special events such as the annual Valero Alamo Bowl, NCAA basketball and volleyball championships, including the men's and women's basketball Final Four. Other events hosted by the Alamodome included the 1997, 1999 and 2007 Big 12 Championship Games and the 1996 NBA All-Star Game. 6

7 Alamodome General Policies ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE POLICY Alcohol is served at most Alamodome events. Alcohol is only served to guests 21 years of age and we check ID every time. Patrons are allowed to purchase two alcoholic beverages at a time. Alcohol may not be taken to or from the club level for any event. BAG INSPECTION / BACKPACKS Packages, bags, and purses are subject to a visual inspection of the item's contents at the gates. If staff cannot identify all the contents, guests will be asked to move items to allow for a complete inspection. Guests who refuse inspection can be denied entry. In general, backpacks of any size are not allowed in the Dome. 7

8 Alamodome General Policies BANNERS AND SIGNS The Alamodome encourages fan support. Banners or signs are permitted if they conform to these guidelines: They do not exceed 3' x 3' They do not obstruct building signage, LED boards, scoreboards, or other fans' sightlines They are event-specific and contain no advertising They are in generally accepted good taste. Note that "good taste" is defined at the discretion of the Dome and the show promoter. Banners or signs on poles are not permitted in the Dome. Banners may not be fastened to any surface with tape, staples, Velcro, zip ties, etc. Note that permanent building signs, white on red, are for venue and emergency directions. Signs brought in by fans may not under any condition obstruct Alamodome event signs. CAMERAS AND VIDEO RECORDERS The permitted use of still cameras and video cameras varies by event. For most events including UTSA football and Talons Arena Football league games, video cameras are prohibited. Generally speaking small personal cameras are allowed. Professional cameras and cameras with interchangeable lens are prohibited. Lens must not exceed 5" and camera bag must not be larger than 8 ½ wide x 13" long x 5" deep. EMERGENCIES AND EVACUATIONS The Alamodome is committed to providing the highest standard of safety for its visitors and employees. Emergency response procedures have been developed to address an emergency or crisis that might arise at the Alamodome or surrounding areas that might affect the facility operation. In case of emergency, proceed to the nearest stairwell and head down to street level and out of the building. Areas of rescue assistance also are available, and visual and audible alarms are located throughout the building for use in the event of an emergency. 8

9 Alamodome General Policies LOST AND FOUND Items left in the seating bowl are brought to the nearest Dome Service Center located at each gate. After the event, guests may call Dome Security at to claim their lost items. TAILGATING Tailgating is allowed in Alamodome parking lots B and C. Tailgating rules and policies can be found on the back of the season parking passes or at goutsa.com. CONCEALED WEAPONS No weapons (handguns, etc.) will be permitted on our premises, even with a concealed weapons permit. DOORS OPENING Doors will open 90 minutes before kickoff for UTSA Football games. SMOKING POLICY In compliance with local and state laws, the Alamodome is a smoke-free facility. Smoking exits are located on the Plaza Level (2) of the building. COACHES HEADSETS UTSA will NOT provide coaches headsets for game day. Please contact Sarah Fieger at (859) or sarah.fieger@sanantonio.gov to find out the frequencies for the Alamodome. Also, feel free to contact Coach Comm with any further questions regarding the frequencies. CREDENTIAL AND SIDELINE REQUEST The visiting team bench is located on the west side of the field. Sideline credentials will be provided by the UTSA Athletics Communications Department. Please contact Sarah Fieger at (859) or EQUIPMENT SHUTTLE FROM AIRPORT If you will need an equipment truck from the airport to the Alamodome, please contact Mike Villa, Head Equipment Manager at (210) (c) or at to assist you with the arrangements. 10

11 Alamodome Visiting Team Information LOCKER ROOMS The visiting locker room is located through the southeast loading dock entrance. The visiting team will be housed in Locker Rooms A&B. The locker room will be stocked with water, ice, soap and towels. Please contact Mike Villa, UTSA Head Equipment Manager at (210) (c) or with any additional needs the week of the game. POSTGAME SCREENING Please contact Sarah Fieger at (859) or if you plan to screen at the Alamodome. Screening will take place at the Southeast tunnel of the loading dock before the players and travel party board the buses. You will need to make arrangements with TSA to ensure that they will be ready and set up. SECURITY PROCEDURES/ WALK THROUGH As part of security measures at the Alamodome, a sweep will be done at 5:00 am the morning of the game. An event staff member will be able to assist you and your team on Friday for your walk-through as you and your team arrive at the stadium. UNIFORMS The home uniforms worn by the Roadrunners will be navy blue or orange, with white navy blue, or orange pants and a navy blue helmet. VISITING TEAM COACHES BOOTH The visiting coaches booth is located on the East Club Level. The elevators will be held at halftime and at the end of the game. An escort will be provided each time your coaches move to/from the booth to the field. POST GAME MEAL No outside food or vendors are allowed on the Alamodome grounds. If you would like to set up a post game meal through the Alamodome, contact Brenda Teichroeb with the RK Group at (210) The RK Group handles all catering events at the Alamodome. 11

12 Visiting Spirit Squads SPIRIT SQUADS Visiting spirit squads are allowed up to 16 cheerleaders or dancers, 1 mascot, 2 coaches, and 1 trainer. Uniforms will not be required to enter the stadium, but please have all squad members enter with their coach and have a roster available to present upon entry. Please enter the Alamodome through the Southside loading docks in Parking Lot A. Take the West hallway (to the left) around to Meeting Room G. You will enter the field through the Northwest tunnel (adjacent to Meeting Room G) and will only be permitted to perform on the Northwest sideline. Visiting spirit squads are not permitted on the playing field or in the endzones at any point after kickoff. Non-powered megaphones are permitted on the sideline, but NO other noisemaking devices or flags will be allowed. Please fill out the Visiting Spirit Travel contact sheet at the back of the Visiting Guide and return it to Jason Gregory at least 5 days before the game. 13 Visiting Bands BANDS Bands will enter the stadium through the northwest corner of the facility.
