1 July ISSUE 7 Dash for Kids Here it is July and Dash for Kids weekend is coming upon us in 7 weeks. We now have 20 AMAZING sponsors and over 50 auction donations. A BIG THANK YOU to Rhom Innovations, Blairco Heating and Air Conditioning, Lucky Dog Racing League, The Smythe Co., Mark Scholz Portland Homes for Cars, Patriot Fire Protection, Trackside Motorsports, Eckert Family, Anonymous, Scott & Carol Faris, Marque Motors, Kings Cross Automotive, Casa Bella, Larsco, A Framers Touch, Mary s Harvest, Woodstock Motor Sport with Mt Hood Miata Club, Millennium Graphics and Forms, and Interstate Special Events as sponsors. Please support and thank these generous businesses and individuals. Although the T-shirt sponsorship has closed, I still have opportunities for sponsoring our tent and dinner. The Danny Frasier Silent Auction is always a big hit during Dash weekend. Do you have new or lightly used items to donate? Please send me a picture with description and I will arrange pick-up or delivery. We need your help with securing donations either monetarily or items by reaching out to your favorite restaurants, retailers, sports or recreational venues, it is easier than you think. Remember all checks need to be made out to CSCC Charity Fund. I can provide you with our donation request letter and 501(c)3 letter. The fun part of the auction is how many interesting items find new and loving homes plus generating funds for our charities. Raffle Tickets are now for sale. Each ticket costs $10 and gets you two opportunities to win either a 2018 ICSCC Race Entry or a $250 gift card. Tickets will be for sale at all race events and general meetings. Volunteer at Dash weekend: I am looking for face painters, magicians, artists to do caricatures or anything that kids would love. Do you have a friend, acquaintance or family member that has a talent? Send them my way. DRIVERS.. Noon Time Rides needs YOU!! You make this event so memorable for the Doernbecher families plus you introduce our community to the thrill of riding in a real racecar around PIR. Please let me know you that you will be there for DASH. Helmets require upgrades this year. Did you know you can donate your old helmets to Dash and we will give you a donation receipt? Coolers!!! Need I say more? I need to borrow coolers for Saturday s lunch and dinner. See you at the track! Thank you for your help and support, Signa Vernholm dashforkids@gmail.com

4 CSCC General Meeting Minutes June 13th, 2017 The meeting was called to order by Vine Vavrosky, Vice President at 6:30 PM. Board members present: Bob Peters, Steve Powell, Linda Blackburn, Vince. Others present were: Austin Bradshaw, Dave and Julie Riehl, Grace Skinner, Charles Freeborn and Kathy Peters. Motion moved and passed to pass on reading of the minutes. Our primary purpose is to have a discussion about the video we are planning on making to market Cascade. Austin explained what he thought would work for a short, 3-5 minutes, and then maybe a minute video for publicizing the club. Jim Cissell has offer to assist in the voice over part. There was lots of discussion of what we might put into the video. The first step is to have Austin come to the Board and discuss what we have in mind. Linda purposed that each person there and the Board of Cascade try to come up with a story Board by the July Board meeting. We need to get the outline in mind before proceeding. Austin will try to make that meeting. The biggest thing is we must get thisin the works now or we will not have it in full by the first of the year. There was a lot of discussion on various places, venues and ideas we could use. There was some discussion on the Groupon, FOPIR for the Rose Cup, activities and simplifying all that we do. Meeting adjourned 7:30. Respectfully submitted, Linda Blackburn Help earn matching funds for CSCC Charity Fund from Fred Meyer by registering your rewards card. Donations of a single race entry, a driver s training entry and positions 1&2 for the 2018 October enduro, all with $100 minimum bids, were unanimously approved by the board. There are two events in the south paddock on Dash weekend. On the 19 th The Big NW Subaru event and on the 20 th Oregon Porsche Club will be having an autocross plus Boxsters on the Field. Signa needs someone with a SUV or truck with canopy to volunteer to pick up #140 box lunches in NE Portland the weekend of the event. We also need help for Sandra Ferrick with Noon Time Rides. Michael Huber from Take Action and his helper are unable to help on Saturday. Scott Faris and Scott Goodrich will be giving rides this year. 7 CSCC BoD Meeting Minutes Continued Contest Board: Chris Heinrich- No report. E-Board: Bob Hillison No report. Enduro: Chris Heinrich The proposed budget for the HR/4HR/8HR Enduro was presented to the BOD and approved unanimously. Total expenses are estimated at $19870, with a predicted loss of $97.. Retro Racing has generously donated $4000 in prize money for the 8HR portion of the event, and Scott Shobert has donated $500. The overall winner and class winners of the 4 classes with the most entries will be eligible for prize money. The proposed format is a 2HR/4HR/8HR, all races starting at the same time with no chicane. The race itself will last from 12pm-8pm, with a 5 minute track crossing at 5:30. The classes are the same as last year. Historian: (open position) no report. Marketing: Linda Blackburn Motorsportreg is offering a free blast promo, Linda is going to get more details on what this implies, but she will be preparing an to submit that promotes CSCC, in an effort to drum up more interest. We have secured a marketing booth for both the SVRA vintage event and the Rose Cups. We have also secured a car for display. We are, however, short on volunteers. Please contact Linda Blackburn if interested. For these events we are thinking of doing a coupon with a discount code for drivers schools. The discount would be $55, around 25% off the total cost of a novice drivers training entry. Membership: Steve & Julie Powell There were 3 new memberships presented for approval: Siamak Shirazi, Mark and Kristen Ling and Dwight and Heidi Ellett. Unanimously approved. Merchandise: Café Press storefront for online store. No report. Points: Grace Skinner Absent, no report. Race Chair: Gary Bockman - The Chicane Challenge had a decent turnout with no major incidents. Race Team: Tracy Klein (Absent, Gary Bockman reporting) We had one major incident with our second drivers training, an impact in turn 12. No injuries reported. We have received the bill for damages from PIR and will be forwarding them to the proper recipients. There were, again, 19 Groupons sold for the event. A good number. ROD: Kimberly McFarland we continue to have new road race marshals come out for various specialties. Treasurer: Bob Peters After moving group 9 from our first drivers training to Race 1 and paying and recording the latest bills last night, stats are as follows: DT 1 Loss of $471 Race 1 Profit of $13,692 Most of the bills for DT 1 and Race 1 should have been paid by now. Bob should have a preliminary on DT2 ad Race 2 by the end of the weekend. Website: Mark Estes & Charles Freeborn (Absent) no report. Old Business The revised contract that was sent to SVRA for the vintage weekend was accepted. New Business Meeting Adjourned: 8pm As far as the CSCC championship stats are concerned, 56 drivers have entered all three Cascade races so far. Two drivers look to potentially win the Cascade Grand Slam. Four others need to see a large increase in class entries in the final race to have a chance. For the Cascade Cup - 17 classes potentially have a champion. Trophies to 2nd place in 5 classes and trophies to 2nd and 3rd place in 6 classes. Mel Ono is retiring after many years of service to PIR. Gary Bockman requested that we donate some money toward a weekend at the beach for Mel and his wife, as many other clubs and organizations that use the track have done. A motion for a donation of $100 was made and approved unanimously. 7
