7 Spanning Coast-to-Coast Bulldogs Play the Best for Maximum Exposure Gonzaga University's motto in recent years has been "Anyone, Anywhere, Anytime." The Bulldogs have put together some of the toughest schedules in school history in recent years, playing such national powerhouses as NCAA Tournament regulars Stanford, Kansas, Purdue, Michigan State, Cincinnati, Temple, UCLA, Arizona, Florida, St. John s, Illinois, Texas, Kentucky, Oklahoma State and Georgia Tech. In addition, the Bulldogs have also played in some of the most elite tournaments such as the Maui Invitational, Jimmy V Classic, Coaches vs. Cancer Classic, Pete Newell Challenge, Peach Bowl Classic, Great Alaska Shootout, the Top of the World Classic, the Spartan Classic hosted by Michigan State University, the Rainbow Classic in Hawai'i, the Hawkeye Classic hosted by the University of Iowa, and the BB&T Classic in Washington D.C.. This season, the Bulldogs will also face Nevada in the Battle in Seattle and host Washington, Memphis, Texas-San Antonio in the McCarthey Athletic Center. The program has achieved a regional and national following with the exposure gained through televised games. In 2001 Gonzaga signed a television deal to have most of its games televised, including 25 televised games that season. In 2004 that television contract was extended for another four years, allowing for every Gonzaga game to be broadcast either locally or nationally. In addition to local television coverage, Gonzaga will be on ESPN 21 times, FSN 12 times and ABC once in Bulldogs Recent TV Games National Apperances ESPN - 21 Apperances Fox Sports - 12 Apperances ABC - 1 Apperance National Apperances ESPN - 14 Apperances FOX Sports - 13 Apperances CBS - 4 Apperances ABC - 1 Apperance National Appearances CBS - 2 Appearances ABC - 1 Appearance ESPN - 10 Appearances FOX Sports - 12 Appearances CSTV - 1 Appearance National Appearances CBS - 3 Appearances ESPN - 9 Appearances FOX Sports - 9 Appearances CSTV - 1 Appearance National Appearances CBS - 2 Appearances ESPN - 8 Appearances FOX Sports - 5 Appearances National Appearances CBS - 1 Appearance ESPN - 6 Appearances FOX Sports - 8 Appearances Comcast - 2 Appearances National Appearances CBS - 3 Appearances ESPN - 1 Appearance FOX Sports - 5 Appearances Sunshine Network - 1 Appearance National Appearances CBS - 3 Appearances ESPN - 3 Appearances FOX Sports - 6 Appearances EXPOSURE National Appearances CBS - 4 Appearances ESPN - 4 Appearances FOX Sports - 3 Appearances Photos by Dale Goodwin and Allen Hubbard Record on National TV CBS (.570) ABC (1.000) ESPN (.759) FOX Sports (.855) Sunshine Network (.000) Comcast (1.000) CSTV (.500) * ESPN includes ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU * FOX Sports includes FOX Sports Net and all regional FOX Sports Stations * Sunshine Network and Comcast are based on the East Coast and Southeast 7

8 TELEVISION PACKAGE Gonzaga Television Package Bulldogs Will Get Maximum Exposure With Every Game Televised Gonzaga University athletics director Mike Roth announced in May of 2004 the most comprehensive men's basketball television package in school history, assuring all Bulldog men's basketball games both home and away will be televised for at least the next four seasons. In a unique partnership involving Seattle-based Fox Sports Net and Spokane's KHQ-TV, all regular-season games not televised by another entity will be televised in the Pacific Northwest through the agreement with FSN and KHQ. The agreement is for four years, with two 2-year renewals available that could extend the pact to eight years. "This is one of the best college basketball television packages in the country," Roth said at a press conference. "We are very happy to continue our association with Lon Lee and KHQ- TV, and we're excited about expanding our affiliation with Mark Shuken and Fox Sports Net." KHQ's 3-year television agreement with Gonzaga expired at the end of the 2004 season, an agreement which brought nine games in 2004 into Spokane-area homes that otherwise would not have been televised. Fox Sports Net has been a television partner with Gonzaga and the West Coast Conference for more than a decade, dating back to FSN's infancy as Prime Sports Northwest. "I am excited about our partners," said Lee, president of KHQ-TV. "We are extremely pleased to continue our association with Gonzaga University, and to be in partnership with Fox Sports Net takes the package to a higher level." "Gonzaga basketball has achieved an elite status among NCAA basketball programs and in adding these games to the Fox Sports Net schedule, we continue to solidify our position as the only place to find all your favorite local teams," said Shuken, vice president and general manager for Fox Sports Net. "FSN is proud to have the opportunity to bring these games and other Gonzaga programming to Bulldog fans throughout the Northwest." In May of 2004 Gonzaga athletic director Mike Roth (center) announced the Bulldogs new television deal. He is joined by Lon Lee (l) and Mark Shuken (r). Under the agreement Gonzaga basketball could reach nearly 5 million homes throughout the states of Washington, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Alaska and the western provinces of Canada. "FSN will guarantee coverage in the Seattle market for every game in the package, and our coverage will include the five-state region as much as possible," Shuken said. "Once the Gonzaga schedule is finalized we will identify our other programming responsibilities in the five-state area (3.4 million homes) and determine our broadcast schedule of Bulldog basketball." Lee said KHQ-TV, which will also televise some games on local affiliate KAYU-TV (FOX 28), reaches 400,000 homes in eastern Washington and northern Idaho, and another 1.5 million homes in the Canadian provinces of British Columbia and Alberta, including as far away as Calgary and Edmonton. KHQ-TV recently entered into an affiliation agreement with KAYU-TV, including the Fox 28 "First At Ten" weeknight newscasts. Under terms of the agreement, KHQ will retain exclusivity of Gonzaga basketball game coverage in the normal KHQ viewing area of eastern Washington, northern Idaho and western Canada. "We couldn't have asked for a better package," Roth said. "When Lon and Mark submitted a joint endeavor I saw only positives. We have always looked for ways to expand our coverage to the Seattle market, and FSN took that even one step further. We realize it will take some programming juggling on the part of Mark and his staff and we're appreciative of Of the schools ranked in the final Top 25 poll of 2006, only the following will have all of their games televised in Duke Florida Kansas Ohio State Texas their efforts to make this happen. We already knew we had one of the best television packages in the country, and today it got even better." With us moving into the McCarthey Atheltic center in the fall of 2004, we also believed it was important to continue our high profile on television, and this agreement achieved that goal," Roth said. In the two years of the KHQ/FSN partnership, 32 games have been broadcast that would not have been seen on television in previous years, including 10 road games that were brought back to the Spokane and Seattle markets. With 100 percent of its games now broadcast, Gonzaga joins an elite list of schools that came make that claim. Of the teams ranked in the final Top 25 poll of the 2006 season, only Duke University, Ohio State University, the University of Florida, the University of Texas and the University of Kansas join Gonzaga as having all games broadcast in Gonzaga head coach Mark Few said the television package is among the best in the nation, and by far the best he's seen as he enters his eighth year as head coach and his 18th year overall in the Bulldogs' program. "This is great for our program, the university and the Pacific Northwest," Few said. "I'll never forget the first time one of our games was televised on Prime Sports Northwest. To see what has evolved into FSN is truly remarkable. KHQ was the pioneer of Spokane television, so to continue that relationship is also special." 8

9 Bulldog Basketball Best in the West Gonzaga University has become one of the top men s basketball programs on the West Coast over the past 15 years holding the highest winning percentage and number of wins for an NCAA Division I school located in the states of California, Oregon and Washington. Gonzaga is the only West Coast school with more than 350 wins as the Bulldogs have posted an impressive record over that span for a winning percentage of.756. Only Stanford University joins the Bulldogs with a winning percentage over.700. The Cardinal hold a.702 percentage. Gonzaga and Stanford will meet for the sixth time this season when the top two schools on the West Coast face each other on Jan. 31 at Stanford. Gonzaga had somewhat silently established itself as one of the elite programs on the West Coast until awakening not only the West Coast but the nation with its run to the NCAA Elite Eight in 1999 and to the Sweet Sixteen in 2000 and 2001 and In 2002 Gonzaga again proved to be one of the nation s elite programs reaching a No. 6 national ranking in both the AP and USA TODAY/ESPN polls. The Bulldogs returned to the top of the college basketball world in 2004 as they finished the season ranked No. 3 in the AP poll and climbing as high as No. 2 in the USA TODAY/ESPN poll. Gonzaga dominated in 2005 with a No. 10 ranking in the AP poll, the highest ranking on the West Coast. In 2006, the Bulldogs continued its domination, finishing the season ranked No. 5 in the AP Poll. With a strong and loyal fan base from the city of Spokane and the Gonzaga student body, Gonzaga basketball generates a basketball environment unmatched anywhere on the West Coast and only at a handful of places around the nation. The Kennel serves as the Bulldogs home where sellouts are the norm and students camp out for a chance to be part of the next chapter in Gonzaga basketball. The Bulldogs have also become road favorites as teams that previously did not sellout reach capacity when the Zags come to town. GO ZAGS! 16
