Bledsoe holds WF records in shutouts, GAA, games played, games started and minutes in goal. << THE COVERAGE >> WAKE FOREST CONTINUES ACC PLAY >> The Demon Deacons continue their three-game road swing with an ACC contest at in-state rival Duke, to be aired on RSN and ESPN3. LAST TIME OUT >> Wake Forest fell at #6 North Carolina, 3-0. Lindsay Preston made seven saves in the contest, giving her 50 in her rookie campaign. Pilar Torres put a shot on frame which would have tied it at 1-1, but a defender at the goal line deflected it away for a team save. Wake Forest started a season-high seven freshmen, as well as a total of nine underclassmen. SCOUTING THE BLUE DEVILS >> Duke has had a streaky season to date; the Blue Devils lost their first two, won the next three, lost the next two, won the next three, and are winless in their last three. Most recently, Duke fell 1-0 at #24 Clemson. The Blue Devils also recently tied Louisville 0-0 and fell to #2 Virginia Tech 2-0. Toni Payne is tied for the team lead in goals (4), holding the sole team lead in assists (4) and points (12). Kelly Cobb (4), Christina Gibbons (3) and Imani Dorsey (3) have also scored at least a trio of goals. Though three keepers have seen time in goal, Ali Kershner has started all 13 contests. She holds a.758 save percentage and 0.77 goals-against average. IN THE ACC >> Freshman keeper Lindsay Preston is currently third in the ACC in saves (50), fourth in saves per game (4.17), and eighth in shutouts (3). Her ninesave game at No. 1 UCLA is tied for the third-highest total in the ACC this season. WAKE FOREST STORYLINES >> The Deacs have started at least seven underclassmen and at least four freshmen in every game this season. at UNC, seven freshmen were in the starting XI, including at least one at every position (1 GK/2 D/2 M/2 F). Wake Forest recently concluded its toughest stretch of schedule in years. The Deacs have played ranked opponents in seven of the past eight contests. Out of the 30 honorees on the list, Ridgik is the lone ACC representative. If Ridgik makes the top 10 when the list is trimmed later in the year, she ll be just the second Deacon to do so since the award was exanded to soccer in 2007, following Aubrey Bledsoe from a year ago. The award, which stands for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, recognizes Division I student-athletes who excel in the community, class, character and competition. She is ranked by TopDrawerSoccer as the 41st-best player in NCAA Division I heading into MILESTONE WATCH >> Riley Ridgik is two goals away from 20, three points from 50, and five shots from 150 in her career. Kim Marshall just made her 75th start in her career, while Sarah Teegarden and Kendall Fischlein recently made their 30th starts. Fischlein made her 25th straight start at UNC. Katie Dry s appearance at UVa was the 40th of her career. Tony da Luz is four conference wins away from 75 in his Wake Forest tenure. THE BIG 250 >> Wake Forest earned its 250th all-time victory by defeating No. 13 Georgetown on Sept. 7. Having played just over 20 seasons, the Demon Deacons have averaged more than 12 wins per season since debuting in Head coach Tony da Luz has been at the helm for 220 of those 250 wins. No Demon Deacon is within 10 goals or 35 points of either record. Now, she s with Bayern Munich, where she has already scored three goals. Bledsoe was a four-year starter and three-time All-American in goal, holding program records for games started, shutouts and goals-against average. She recently signed with Sky Blue FC. The Deacs graduated three other starters: Ally Berry (94 career starts), Jackie McSally (91 appearances, 70 starts), Caralee Keppler (All-ACC, 60 starts). Rachel Nuzzolese, despite missing most of her senior year due to injury, also concluded her career with 26 goals. FRESH FACES >> Wake Forest has started at least seven underclassmen in every game so far, including exhibitions. All nine freshmen - Lindsay Preston, Maddie Huster and Sarah Medina, Monreau DeVos, Claudia Day, Casey Brown, Kahla Seymour, Pilar Torres and Ally Haran - have started at least once. Preston has earned three shutouts, Medina has a pair of assists and Torres has a goal and assist. SUCCESS UNDER DA LUZ >> In head coach Tony da Luz s 17 seasons, Wake Forest has made the NCAA Tournament each year.
