The Eagles defense continued to grow under defensive coordinator Bill Davis as the 2013 season progressed. Prior to Week 15, the team held their opponents to 21 points or less in nine consecutive games, which was the longest streak in the NFL and the longest by an Eagles team since they did so in 18 consecutive games in 2001 (including playoffs). The Eagles also tied for third in the league in goal-to-go turnovers, as they forced two miscues from their opponents when backed up inside the 10. FLETCHER INSTANT IMPRESSIONS During the offseason, Philadelphia addressed several areas of need on the defense, bringing in multiple players via free agency and the draft. Of the 176 starts by Eagles defensive players this year, 79 (45 percent) were made by players who were not with the team in Here are a few highlights from the newest Eagles: CB Cary Williams ranked tied for second on the team with three interceptions and became just the third Eagles cornerback to record both a sack and an interception in the same contest vs. Was. 5 d~ãé=kçíéë pí~åççìí=méêñçêãéêë RYANS TACKLING FUEL Since joining the Eagles prior to the 2012 season, DeMeco Ryans has recorded double-digit tackles in 16 of his 32 games with the Birds, including in 10 of 16 games in Ryans established a career-high 177 tackles this season and also became the first Eagle to post four sacks and two interceptions in the same season since William Thomas in Ryans was one of just 13 players to do so in the NFL in 2013, including teammate Mychal Kendricks. DeMeco Ryans is the quarterback of our defense. He s outstanding. He lines everyone up and keeps them steady. I am just happy for DeMeco, he is having a great season, a Pro Bowl season. I cannot overstate his importance to our defense. - Eagles Defensive Coordinator Bill Davis MATHIS THE MAGNIFICENT An anchor on one of the NFL s most athletic offensive lines, Evan Mathis continues to blossom into one of the league s best offensive linemen. According to Pro Football Focus, Mathis ranked as the NFL s top guard for the third consecutive season with a grade of 42.9 and allowed just two sacks in 1061 snaps on offense through Week 16. The guard MATHIS has also helped pave the way for league-leading rusher LeSean McCoy (1,607 yards). He s really strong. And when you re playing against the people that we re playing against...those big, giant inside players, there s no mismatch there because he s so strong and he s valuable because of that. When he gets on you, it s hard to get off of him. - Eagles Offensive Line Coach Jeff Stoutland MCCOY SHADES OF GREATNESS The NFL s leader in rushing yards (1,607) and yards from scrimmage (2,146), LeSean McCoy flourished under new head coach Chip Kelly in 2013, earning Pro Bowl honors for the second time in his career. McCoy rushed for a franchise-best 150+ yards in four games in 2013, including an Eaglesrecord 217 yards vs. Det. (12/8)., while no other back in the NFL did so more than once. The one thing that I ve been really impressed with LeSean is that he s a complete running back. I think you look at him in blitz pickup and some things that go a little bit unnoticed, his ability as a receiver...i think his ability to be a complete back is what really impresses me. - Eagles Head Coach Chip Kelly SAINT NICK After stepping in for Michael Vick on October 6, Foles was nothing short of spectacular in 2013, finishing the season with the third-highest passer rating for a season in NFL history (119.2) and the best TD/INT ratio in league annals (0.63%). In just his 9th NFL start, he became the seventh player in league history to throw for seven touchdowns in one FOLES game at Oak. (11/3) and had his jersey, cleats and seventh TD football put on display at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, OH. We have a great chemistry, for sure, but he spreads the ball around. He has confidence in our offense and all of our guys, and when you spread the ball around and use the whole field, the defense has to cover everyone and it opens things up. - Eagles Wide Receiver Riley Cooper Following Foles 7 Touchdown Performance DONNIE LONGBALL A two-time NFC Special Teams Player of the Week honoree in 2013, Donnie Jones was a key addition during the offseason and helped pin opponents deep in their own territory all season. Jones, who holds the Eagles single-season record for net punting average (40.5), ranked fourth in the NFL with 33 punts downed inside the 20, and recorded a JONES team-best seven inside the 20 vs. Ari. (12/1). The punting, the special teams and the field position have been outstanding. That is a huge part of why we had some success in that game against Arizona because that drive start, with Donnie putting it inside of the 20, is really unbelievable. He s as big of a reason for why we ve had some success defensively as anybody. - Eagles defensive coordinator Bill Davis HITTING THE JACKPOT An explosive threat in the Birds offense, DeSean Jackson ranked ninth in the NFL in receiving yards (1,332) and his 16 catches of 25+ yards ranked third in the league. In 2013, Jackson established career highs in receptions (82) and receiving yardage (1,332), and tied his career high in touchdown receptions (9). JACKSON He is a really smart receiver and can play multiple positions for us and be effective in multiple positions for us. Some guys are just inside guys and some guys are just outside guys, but I think he is a combination of the two. It s fun as a coach when you have a player like him. - Eagles Head Coach Chip Kelly

6 `Üáé=hÉääó eé~ç=`ç~åü Following a successful four-year stint manning the sidelines at the University of Oregon, Chip Kelly was named head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles on January 16, Kelly joined the NFL coaching fraternity after 23 years of working in the college ranks. His remarkable four-year tenure with the Ducks produced a 46-7 (.868) overall record and transformed that university into one of the nation s premiere football destinations. Amidst Kelly s meteoric rise, he became the first coach in Oregon s history to guide the program to three undisputed conference championships from Additionally, the Ducks made an appearance in a BCS Bowl game in each of Kelly s four seasons as head coach. In just Kelly s second season, Oregon earned a trip to the BCS National Championship game in Not only did Kelly implement an offense with a fast pace, but his schemes also resulted in racking up big plays. During Kelly s tenure, the Ducks led the FBS in big plays, including 25-yard passing plays (220) and 25-yard rushes (110). In his four seasons at Oregon, the Ducks scored a whopping 44.7 points per game. Known as a football junkie, Kelly has a matter-of-fact leadership style in addition to his mastery of the spread offense. Following Oregon s run at a potential national title in 2010, Kelly s leadership was recognized with a multitude of Coach of the Year awards from outlets such as Associated Press, Sporting News, The Walter Camp Football Foundation, and other postseason titles including the Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year, AFCA Coach of the Year, and Pac-10 Coach of the Year. Prior to taking over as Oregon s head coach, Kelly spent two seasons as the team s offensive coordinator. During his first year as President, Smolenski has infused energy throughout the organization with his engaging leadership style. He embarked on a two-year, $125 million revitalization plan to Lincoln Financial Field and aided Eagles chairman Jeffrey Lurie and general manager Howie Roseman on the team s search for a new head coach - a process that landed Oregon head coach Chip Kelly. He also spearheaded a plan that relocated the team s training camp to Philadelphia for the first time since The stadium revitalization plan, like others, was a direct result of his numerous conversations with Eagles fans, an initiative that fuels Smolenski s drive as one of the key stewards of the franchise. Smolenski is also a driving force in the team s environmental initiatives. Through its Go Green! program, the Eagles have emerged as a leader in environmental stewardship. The team has become a green leader in the sports industry through its conservation efforts, recycling programs, and use of renewable energy. In fact, his efforts have made Lincoln Financial Field one of the greenest sports stadium in the world with the installation of solar panels and wind turbines in STADIUM REVITALIZATION ON TAP In June, the Eagles announced that Lincoln Financial Field, the team s home since 2003, will be revitalized over the next two years. Upon completion prior to the start of the 2014 regular season, the stadium will have upgraded amenities for all fans including two new HD video boards, imagery to honor the franchise s greatest players and moments, Wi-Fi installation, and seating bowl modifications that include additional seats and two connecting bridges. Gensler Architecture and Turner Construction will lead the $125 million project. We have had discussions with season ticket holders over the past couple of seasons to find out what was important to them. We listened and developed a plan of action. The revitalization is a direct result of those conversations, said Smolenski. Our main goal when we began this project was to dramatically enhance the gameday experience for our fans. They deserve an exciting and fun experience and we are committed to that. He played a vital role assisting Eagles chairman Jeffrey Lurie in the team s search for a new head in 2013, which ultimately brought renowned Oregon coach Chip Kelly east to Philadelphia. He s one of the brightest young guys in the league, said Eagles chairman Jeffrey Lurie. I m very excited about what he brings to the table. He has assembled an excellent team around him. He s meticulous in his evaluations. He has great relationships with players, coaches and agents around the league. Over the last couple of years, Roseman has configured what many observers have coined a strong scouting staff with a blend of experienced scouts and a young core of talent. "You have to give him a lot of credit for that, because there are a lot of young guys who wouldn't do that," former NFL GM and current Eagles senior football advisor Tom Donahoe said. "They'd feel threatened by it. They would feel a little bit intimidated by it. But Howie's only interested in getting the best group of scouts that he can. He values our opinion. We don't always agree, but that's part of scouting." ROSEMAN S SCOUTING TEAM Over the last two years, Roseman has revamped the Eagles scouting staff. Here s a breakdown: Tom Gamble...
