Center on Thursday as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. UofL posted an win over Valparaiso on Sunday. Myisha Hines-Allen had a season-high 21 points, and Emmonnie Henderson added a double-double (11 points, 11 rebounds). Iowa (6-1) tallied a win over Gonzaga on Saturday behind five players scoring in double figures. Whitney Jennings paced the Hawkeyes with 19 off the bench. Center, Louisville, Ky., 2:02 p.m. ET (ESPN3) BY THE NUMBERS Freshmen Myisha Hines-Allen and Mariya Moore are jostling for the top scoring average on the team, each boasting better than a 14-point average. The last time a freshman finished the year leading UofL in scoring was 25 seasons ago. Gwen Doyle compiled a 17.9 average in Number of field goals Myisha Hines-Allen has connected on the last two games. She went 9-for- 13 against both Lafayette and Valparaiso, including a seasonbest 21 against the Crusaders. Louisville finished the month of November unscathed, posting a 7-0 mark. Louisville has won 28-consecutive games in the 11th month. Under head coach Jeff Walz, Louisville boasts a 45-8 record in the month. Louisville s 136 assists through seven games are the most since the team totaled 142 assists in that same timeframe, a span of nine seasons. UofL ranks 10th nationally with 19.4 per game. 2 Iowa at Louisville -- Page 2 Louisville Sports Information Office - (502) <About Iowa - Louisville returns home for three-consecutive games, beginning with Iowa on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the KFC Yum! Center. The game serves as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, which began on Wednesday. Iowa last competed in the South Point Thanksgiving Shootout in Nevada, where the Hawkeyes went 1-1. Iowa dropped its first game of the year on Nov. 29, falling to Arkansas. The Hawkeyes countered with a victory over Gonazaga, with five players reaching double figures and paced by Whitney Jennings game-high 19. The Hawkeyes return four starters from a team that went 27-9 last year and fell to Louisville in the NCAA Tournament in Iowa City. Iowa, which was picked to finish third in the Big Ten, is under the direction of 14th-year coach Lisa Bluder. Iowa and Louisville are meeting for the second time in series history. Last time the two programs played, Louisville scored an win on March 25 in Iowa City to advance to the NCAA Sweet 16. Shoni Schimmel scored a game-high 26 for Louisville, which shot 53.1 percent from the field and limited the Hawkeyes to just 33.3 percent. Smith totaled 22 points, 10 rebounds, and earned her 10th assist with two seconds remaining in the contest. It s the sixth triple-double in school history and first since Angel McCoughtry went for 18 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 steals against Hartford on Dec. 10, It is the fifth triple-double this year and second in the ACC. If that wasn t enough, Smith had four steals in the game against the Hilltoppers, pushing her into sole possession of sixth on the school s all-time chart. One game later against Lafayette on Nov. 28, Smith became the 24th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points. She achieved the mark with a basket at the 14:25 mark of the first half. <A Bonus from the Bench - While the Louisville has received valuable minutes from its starting five, the Cardinals bench continues to produce in major ways. The group is contributing nearly 29 points per game (202 points in seven games). The Cardinals have totaled double-digit thefts in each game this season. Louisville opened the campaign with 16 steals against IUPUI, with six coming from Jude Schimmel - the most in an opener since Bria Smith had six against Missouri State (Nov. 13, 2011). Louisville then matched its season high with 16 steals in the victory over Belmont. <Hines-Allen Earns ACC Honor - Freshman Myisha Hines-Allen became the first Louisville women s basketball player to capture an ACC honor, earning freshman of the week accolades on Dec. 1. In three games, she averaged 18.3 points and 4.3 rebounds to go with four assists and four steals. She shot 71.4 percent from the floor during that span. <Keeping the Offense Alive - Louisville has been aggressive on the offensive glass this season, averaging 17.7 boards to rank third in the ACC. UofL grabbed 22 offensive rebounds in the victory over Ball State, the most since it had 29 on Nov. 9, 2013, against Loyola-Chicago. The Cardinals have collected at least 15 offensive rebounds in five of seven games this season. The 124 offensive rebounds have translated into 134 second-chance points, an average of 19.1 per game. Conversely, Louisville is limiting opponents to just 8.7 second-chance points on average.

3 Iowa at Louisville -- Page 3 Louisville Sports Information Office - (502) <Louisville Chosen Third in ACC Preseason Polls - The Cardinals, in their inaugural season in the Atlantic Coast Conference, were picked to finish third in a preseason poll of the Blue Ribbon Panel (consists of league media and sports information directors). Louisville received a pair of first-place votes from the panel. The league s coaches pegged the Cardinals to finish third as well - behind conference favorite Notre Dame and Duke in both polls. The conference tournament will be held at the Greensboro Coliseum from March 4-8 in Greensboro, N.C. <26 Wins Against Big Ten Competition - Louisville has compiled a record against current members of the Big Ten. The Cardinals have faced Rutgers - former members of the BIG EAST - the most, sporting an 8-4 record against the Scarlet Knights. UofL also boasts winning marks against Iowa (1-0), Michigan (2-1), Nebraska (2-1), Northwestern (2-0), and Ohio State (1-0). The last time Louisville faced a Big Ten school during the regular season - not counting Rutgers - was Nebraska on Dec. 20, 2010, which resulted with a Louisville win. <Maintaining Possession - Louisville, which is averaging 12.4 turnovers per game, lost the ball just six times in the victory against Lafayette. It is the fewest turnovers by a Louisville team since Dec. 9, 2003, when Louisville lost the ball six times against Ball State. Through seven games, the Cardinals 19.4 assists average ranks second best in the ACC and 10th nationally. The total, 136, is the most through seven games since the team totaled 142 in that span. <Scoring Moore Points - Mariya Moore answered the question many were asking heading into the season - from where is Louisville s point production coming? In her collegiate debut, California native and freshman Moore poured in 22 points in Louisville s season-opening win against IUPUI. It s the seventh-most points in a seasonopener in school history and most by a freshman in a game since Shoni Schimmel dropped 33 against Xavier on March 22, 2011, to help Louisville advance to the NCAA Sweet 16. Moore since matched that seasonbest total against Ball State on Nov. 23, knocking down six treys in the process. She ranks 19th in the ACC with a 14.3 scoring average, the fifth-best mark among freshmen in the league. <UofL Among Tops in Statistical Rankings - Louisville ranks in the top 20 nationally in nine Division I statistical categories. Hines-Allen (15.1 ppg) has scored in double digits in all seven games, while Moore (14.3) has reached that figure five times. The Cardinals total appearances in the eight-year timeframe ranks 13th among all NCAA Division I programs. Last year, Louisville debuted at No. 5 in the AP preseason poll and reached as high as third from Feb. 17-March 10. The Cardinals finished the campaign fourth in the AP Poll, their highest final ranking in program history. Louisville also maintained a top-10 ranking throughout the year in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll, taking fifth in the final poll. <Success in the KFC Yum! Defensively, the Cardinals have forced their opponents into 22 scoring droughts of at least three minutes. Louisville held Belmont without a basket for at least a three-minute stretch eight times, including one stretch of 9:14 in the first half. <Paint Points a Positive - Louisville has made it a point of emphasis to score in the paint this year with the loss of last year s 3-point brigade. Hammond was named to the preseason all-acc team by both the Blue Ribbon Panel and the league s 15 coaches. Hines-Allen (coaches) and Moore (media) were selected to the Newcomer Watch Lists. Years Independent Kentucky Women s Intercollegiate Metro Conference USA BIG EAST American Athletic Atlantic Coast <New Kids on the Block - After competing in two different conferences in the last two years, Louisville is beginning its inaugural season as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Louisville participated in the BIG EAST from before joining the American Athletic Conference for one season. The University accepted an invitation to join the ACC on Nov. 28, 2012, and officially became one of the 15 member schools on July 1, It is the sixth conference the UofL women s basketball program has been a part of since becoming an intercollegiate sport in <Cardinals on the Road - Since Jeff Walz became head coach at Louisville in 2007, the Cardinals have an record (.620) in games away from home (32-14 for neutral site games). With a 12-2 record on the road last year, UofL tied for third in the nation for road game wins behind Notre Dame and Connecticut. It is the fourth time under Walz that Louisville has compiled double-digit road victories. HEAD COACH JEFF WALZ Head coach Jeff Walz, in his eighth season as a head coach, has compiled a (.729) record as the Cardinals leader. He has led Louisville to five NCAA Sweet 16 appearances, two of which culminated with NCAA runner-up finishes (2009, 2013). Walz, who is averaging nearly 26 wins per season, became the winningest coach in program history in He also has the most 20-win seasons in school history (6) and the top-three entries for most victories in a season (34 in ; 33 in ; and 29 in ). Hired on March 27, 2007, the Bluegrass State native took the program to its first NCAA Sweet 16 and it culminated with Louisville earning the No. 12 ranking in the final ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll. For his efforts, Walz was named the WBCA Maggie Dixon Rookie Coach of the Year. Prior to taking the reins at Louisville, Walz spent time on four other coaching staffs: Western Kentucky ( ), Nebraska ( ), Minnesota ( ), and Maryland ( ). Louisville s victory over Ohio on Nov. 21 marked his 153rd win at Louisville, surpassing Bud Childers (152 from ). Louisville finished the season at 33-5, and Walz boasts a (.729) overall record at the helm of the program. Currently, Walz owns the most 20-win seasons in program history (6) and has the top-three entries for most victories in a season (34 in ; 33 in ; 29 in ). The group is rated No. 1 by espnw HoopGurlz and Prospects Nation. The coaching staff received commitments from student-athletes from five different states: Asia Durr, a 5-foot-10 point guard from St. Pius X Catholic High in Douglasville, Ga; Taja Cole, a 5-foot-7 point guard from Lloyd C. Bird High in Richmond, Va.; Erin DeGrate, a 6-foot-4 post from La Vega High in Waco, Texas; Samantha Fuehring, a 6-foot-3 forward from Immaculate Conception High in Wanaque, N.J.; and, Brianna Jones, a 5-foot-9 guard from North Babylon High in North Babylon, N.Y. Cole, the first commitment in this year s class, is a five-star prospect from Richmond, Va. She is ranked as the 12th overall player by Prospects Nation and 29th overall player by espnw, ninth at the guard position in this year s class. A left-handed player, she averaged 24.4 points, five rebounds, four assists, and three steals as a junior at Lloyd C. Bird High. That season, she was named to the USA Today all-virginia second team in addition to being named the Conference 12 Player of the Year and a member on the Group 5A all-state team. Cole enters her senior campaign with 987 points, 406 assists, and 210 steals in 71 career games. DeGrate, the top post player in the state of Texas, according to espnw, is ranked as the 36th overall player by Prospects Nation and 41st overall player in the HoopGurlz Class of 2015 rankings. A Texas Association of Basketball Coaches 3A all-state selection in 2014, she guided La Vega to a 35-0 record that year and the school s first state title. A left-handed post player, DeGrate has totaled 1,418 points, 1,032 rebounds, and 276 blocks in three seasons. Durr is arguably the highest-rated recruit to sign with Louisville.
