5 Welcome to Skyline College Meet all of your educational goals at Skyline. Start on the road to a four-year degree. Earn an associates's degree. Skyline is located on 111 acres just west of Skyline Boulevard in San Bruno, and is conveniently available to residents of San Francisco, South San Francisco, Daly City, Colma, Brisbane, San Bruno and Pacifica. We opened in 1969, and we are one of three community colleges in the San Mateo County Community College District. Students love Skyline because of our convenient location; low cost; the broad range, high quality and availability of our degree and certificate programs; flexible scheduling; and student-centered environment. Skyline College offers opportunities for students of all ages. Through Skyline's Guaranteed Transfer Program, many Skyline graduates transfer to a wide range of four-year colleges and universities. Other Skyline college students graduate and achieve an Associate in Arts (A.A.) or Associate in Science (A.S.). Students achieve employment and advancement in business and industry after earning certificates from Skyline's 43 Certificate programs. Our certificate programs include Automotive Technology, Biotechnology, Cosmetology, many areas of Business, Early Childhood Education, Respiratory Therapy, Surgical Technology, and Telecommunications & Network Information Technology. Skyline College is committed to preparing a highly skilled workforce for the new economy and has been recognized nationally for our efforts. Skyline and the Workforce Investment Board (WIB) have worked with Genentech and other biotechnology companies to place workers trained by the college in jobs formerly limited to those with four-year degrees. 6 Review The Skyline College Women s team returned to the California State Playoffs in the season for the third consecutive year. Skyline won 16 games including the Consolation Championship of both the Chaffey Panther Pride Tournament and the Fullerton College Tournament. The Trojans once again swept district rival College of San Mateo on the way to a 3 rd place Ginish in the Coast Conference. Skyline was defeated in the second round of the playoffs by eventual state runner-up College of the Siskiyous. Sophomore Victoria Langi was named First Team All Coast Conference. Sophomores Arianna Sheehy and Charme Noordzee were named Second Team and Honorable Mention respectively. Langi accepted a scholarship to continue her academic and athletic career at University of Alaska Anchorage. Sheehy accepted a scholarship to La Sierra University Season Preview Skyline College enters the season with high expectations. The Lady Trojans return three key sophomores and add two sophomore transfers to a talented group of freshman. Freshmen point guards Keri La and Giselle Mahinay will anchor the backcourt. Skyline will use sophomore Shannon Chau and freshman Raichel Tjan to spread the Gloor as shooters. Sophomore transfer Kayla Coloyan will use her solid allaround game to slash and score while forcing the tempo with another sophomore transfer Arraiya Perez. Freshmen Demesha Boxley, Nani Merafuentes, and Brittany Gutierrez-Kitto continue to develop their game and add depth to the line-up. Skyline will vary their looks by using stretch players like freshmen Ariana Elder and Morgan Vurek. The frontcourt will feature sophomores Veronika Akolo and Sophia Faupusa who look to build on solid freshmen campaigns. Skyline adds a dynamic forward in Julia Garcia, as well as two talented freshmen posts, Anaseini Fakava and Tapa Maka. Skyline will once again play against top-level teams in the preseason to prepare for the Coast Conference season and another run at the California State Playoffs. 6
7 Chris Watters Head Women s Basketball Coach Chris is set to begin his sixth season as Head Coach of the Skyline College Women s Basketball Program. Prior to becoming head coach, Coach Watters served as an assistant coach at Skyline College for Give seasons. Since becoming head coach, Coach Watters has guided the team to a number of California State Playoff appearances and had many players transfer to four-year institutions. Coach Watters is excited to continue the growth of the Skyline basketball program, both academically and athletically. Charee is a graduate of San Franciso International High School and played basketball at California State University, Fullerton After graduation from CSF Charlee played professionally in Europe. Coach Underwood has had coached in many programs including basketball programs at: Stanford, UCLA, LMU, Cal State Fullerton, Hooked on Hoops, and Celebrity Basketball Camps for Kobe Bryant, Luke Walton and LeBron James. Charlee has also coached for the San Jose Cagers and Golden City SF AAU Basketball Teams. Jarrett Millette Assistant Women s Basketball Coach Jarret begins his second season with the Skyline College. Jarrett focused primarily on post player development and scouting reports during his Girst season. Skyline s front court saw tremendous growth during Jarrett s Girst year, including developing sophomore Charme Noordzee into an All Conference selection. Jarrett also coaches for Golden City s youth AAU program. Prior to Skyline, Jarrett assisted with UC Merced s women s basketball program. 7

9 SKYLINE COLLEGE WOMEN S BASKETBALL Raichel will begin her freshman season at Skyline after graduating from Hillsdale High School in San Mateo last spring. While at Hillsdale, Raichel helped the Knights to a second place Ginish in the CCS playoffs and was a twotime All PAL performer in the process. Skyline expects Raichel s playmaking and shooting to create scoring opportunities for herself and her teammates this season. When Raichel isn t playing basketball, she enjoys shopping and spending time with her pet dogs. #1 Raichel Tjan Nani is set to begin her Girst year of competition after suffering a season ending knee injury last season. Prior to Skyline, Nani helped Capuchino High School in San Bruno to back-to-back CCS playoffs appearances. Nani earned the team s Most Outstanding Player Award in the process. Skyline expects Nani s shooting ability to spread the Gloor and bust zone defenses. Nani enjoys swimming and going on adventures in her free time. #2 Nani Merafuentes 9
10 #3 Brittany Gutierrez-Kitto Brittany begins her Girst season at Skyline after a successful career at Half Moon Bay High School. While at Half Moon Bay, Brittany helped her team to a CCS Championship and an appearance in the second round of the Northern California Playoffs. Brittany was named to the All Tournament Team at the Novato High Tournament in the process. Skyline anticipates Brittany adding good guard depth while she polishes her game. Brittany s hobbies include dancing, hiking, and swimming. #4 Arraiya Perez Sophomore Arraiya will begin her sophomore season at Skyline after transferring from Mission College. While at Mission, Arraiya helped the Saints to a second place conference Ginish and a second round playoff appearance. Arraiya is a graduate of Westmoor High School in Daly City. Arraiya helped Westmoor to a PAL championship and multiple CCS playoff appearances. Skyline expects Arraiya s tenacious defense and relentless effort to help create turnovers and scoring opportunities. #5 Keri La Keri begins her Girst season at Skyline after a standout career at Oceana High School in PaciGica. While at Oceana, Keri helped her team to 4 straight CCS Playoff appearances and a second place Ginish in the Peninsula Athletic League as a junior. Keri earned Second Team All League for her efforts. Skyline looks to use Keri s leadership skills as a point guard to continue the program s success. Keri likes trying new restaurants in her free time. 10
11 Shannon begins her sophomore season at Skyline after helping the Trojan back to the second round of the California State Playoffs last season. Shannon appeared in all 28 games as a freshman and was the team s leading scorer in their second round playoff game. Skyline is expecting Shannon to step into a more prominent role this season. Prior to Skyline, Shannon helped Mercy High School to a WBAL Championship while earning First Team All WBAL honors. Shannon s interests include hiking with her dog. #10 Shannon Chau Sophomore Demsha enters her Girst season at Skyline after a standout career at Burton High School in San Francisco. As a senior Demesha earned First Team All City honors while leading her team in points and assists per game. Skyline expects Demsha to be a rotational player at multiple guard positions. Demesha s hobbies include playing basketball and shopping. #12 Demesha Boxley Kayla will begin her sophomore season at Skyline after transferring from Sonoma State University. Prior to Sonoma State, Kayla played at Sacred Heart Cathedral in San Francisco where she helped the Irish to both the CCS and Northern California playoffs. Skyline will rely on Kayla s big game experience and play-making potential to guide the Trojan this season. Kayla enjoys hanging out with friends and family when she isn t playing basketball. #15 Kayla Coloyan Sophomore 11
12 Julia Garcia #20 Sophomore Julia will begin her Girst year of basketball at Skyline after sitting out one season. Skyline expects Julia s athleticism and relentless effort to be a key in transition and keeping plays alive. Prior to Skyline Julia played two seasons at South San Francisco High School where she earned both all tournament and Team Most Valuable Player awards. Julia s hobbies include spending quality time with her siblings. Ariana Elder #21 Ariana returns to basketball this season at Skyline after sitting out her senior season due to the transfer rule. Prior to Skyline Ariana played at Vallejo High where she earned Honorable Mention All Conference and helped her team to the SJS playoffs. Skyline expects Ariana to use her length and athleticism to be productive on both the offensive and defensive ends of the court. Ariana intends to transfer to a four year university after completing her AA degree. Sophia Faupusa #22 Sophomore Sophia returns for her sophomore season after being a solid contributor for Skyline last year. Sophia appeared in all 28 games as a freshman and contributed to the team s success through her defense and rebounding. Skyline expects Sophia s hard work to pay off on the offensive end of the court this season. Prior to Skyline, Sophia helped Carlmont High School to three straight CCS Playoff appearances. Sophia s hobbies include listening to music and Tahitian dance. 12
13 Giselle enters her freshman season after spending a year away from basketball. While at Westmoor High School in Daly City, Giselle helped the Rams to the CCS Playoffs in both volleyball and basketball. Giselle earned First Team All PAL Honors in volleyball as a senior. Skyline expects Giselle to be a leader on the Gloor while playing point guard this season. Giselle s hobbies include listening to music, singing, and dancing. #24 Giselle Mahinay Morgan will begin her Girst season playing at Skyline after a year away from basketball. Prior to Skyline Morgan played at Terra Nova High School in PacGica. Morgan helped the Tigers to a CCS playoff appearance her senior year while earning the team s Most Improved Player Award and the Coaches Award. Skyline expects Morgan s shooting to stretch the Gloor at both forward positions. Morgan plans to transfer to a four year university after completing her AA degree. #30 Morgan Vurek Veronika enters her second season at Skyline looking to build on a solid freshman year. Veronika, who started 27 games as a freshman, was 4 th on the team in rebounds per game and second on the team in blocks per game. Veronika has worked hard to become an impact player on offense during her sophomore year. Prior to Skyline, Veronika helped Sequoia High School to the CCS Playoffs as a senior. In her free time, Veronika enjoys studying and traveling. #32 Veronika Akolo Sophomore 13
14 #33 Anaseine Fakava Anaseini begins her Girst season at Skyline College after a stellar career at San Mateo High School. While at San Mateo High, Anaseini helped her team to back to back CCS Playoff appearances and was named Honorable Mention All PAL in the process. Skyline expects Anaseini to play an important role as a post defender and scorer for this year s team. Anaseini enjoys traveling and playing volleyball in her free time. #41 Fetapa Maka Fetapa will begin her Girst season at Skyline after completing her career at Capuchino High School in San Bruno. While at Capuchino, Fetapa helped her team to the CCS Playoffs her junior season and was named the team s Most Improved Player. Skyline expects Fetapa to have a strong inside presence and solidify the team s frontcourt play. Fetapa likes to listen to music and play basketball in her free time. R/S Kaliyah Hopkins Kaliyah enters her freshman season at Skyline College after graduation from Mission High School in San Francisco. While at Mission, Kaliyah guided the Bears to back to back AAA playoff appearances and was named All City during both her junior and senior seasons. Skyline will lean on Kaliyah s playoff experience to help in big game situations. Kaliyah plans to transfer to a four year university after receiving her AA degree. 14
