Friday's meeting marks the first-ever matchup between the Sooners and Bruins. Friday's game will be streamed on SoonerSports.tv with Chad McKee, Dan Hughes and Jessica Coody announcing. The contest will air on the Sooner Radio Network with Ed Murray and McKenna Treece calling the action. PARIS RETURNS FOR JERSEY HONORING Oklahoma welcomes back one of women's college basketball's most profilic players as Courtney Paris' No. 3 jersey will be raised to the Lloyd Noble Center rafters during a halftime ceremony. Paris, the first-ever four-time AP All-American and 2007 National Player of the Year, led the Sooners to the 2009 Final Four, two Big 12 Tournament titles and three Big 12 regular season championships. She became the first player regardless of gender to record 2,500 points and 2,000 rebounds for a career. Paris, OU's all-time leading scorer and rebounder, holds 20 NCAA, 57 Big 12 and 69 OU records. MOST EXPERIENCED TRIO IN THE BIG 12 OU's Maddie Manning, Gabbi Ortiz and Vionise Pierre-Louis enter the season as the most experienced trio in the Big 12 Conference. Friday's season-opener will marking the 100th career game for both Manning and Ortiz. Manning, Ortiz and Pierre-Louis have combined to play in 295 games and score 2,448 points. All three are on the verge of crossing the 1,000-point plateau for their OU careers. Manning has scored 837 career points, followed by 824 by Pierre-Louis. Ortiz has registered 787 career points during her first three seasons at OU. Against Central Oklahoma, OU's freshman trio led the way on the stat sheet. Ana Llanusa poured in 20 points off the bench, while Mandy Simpson logged 17 rebounds. Shaina Pellington dished a team-high six assists off the bench. Maddie Manning and Llanusa both scored 20-plus points as OU rolled past SWOSU. Manning scored 18 of her 20 points in the first half, while Llanusa posted 13 of her 22 points in the final frame. Vionise Pierre-Louis had a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Gabbi Ortiz (14), Pellington (12) and Ijeoma Odimgbe (10) also scored in double figures. IMPACT FRESHMEN OU s freshman class of Ana Llanusa, Shaina Pellington and Mandy Simpson excelled in the Sooners' two exhibition wins. Llanusa scored 20-plus points in each contest, including a game-high 22 points Tuesday against Southwestern Oklahoma State. The Choctaw, Okla., native led the team in scoring in both exhibition matchups, averaging 21.0 points per contest. Pellington recorded 12 points, five rebounds and five assists in the victory over SWOSU. Simpson, who started both games, dominated the boards in OU's first exhibition win, picking up 17 rebounds against Central Oklahoma on Nov. 3. Simpson's 12 offensive rebounds were the most ever by OU player in an exhibition game during the Sherri Coale era. MANNING, PIERRE-LOUIS RECOGNIZED BY BIG 12 Graduate student Maddie Manning and senior Vionise Pierre-Louis were recognized by the league s coaches as Preseason All-Big 12 Honorable Mention selections. Manning is OU s top returning scorer after averaging 12.6 points per contest a year ago. The Ankeny, Iowa, native shot.424 from the field and.397 from 3-point range during the season. Manning tied for the lead in the Big 12 with 2.0 steals per game and averaged 5.4 rebounds per contest last season. On Wednesday, Manning was also named to the Cheryl Milller Award Watch List, which recognizes the nation's top small forward. For the second straight season, Pierre-Louis earned preseason honors as an honorable mention selection. As a junior, Pierre-Louis averaged 11.9 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per contest, while shooting.524 from the floor. In league play, Pierre-Louis led OU in scoring and rebounding at 14.1 points and 7.7 rebounds per game, while leading the Big 12 with 2.3 blocks per game against league foes. QUICK HITS Oklahoma is 6-2 all-time against current members of the Ohio Valley Conference. The Sooners last meeting with an OVC opponent came on March 17, 2007, against Southeast Missouri State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. OU reached the 20-win plateau for the 12th time in the last 13 seasons under head coach Sherri Coale a year ago. The Sooners have won at least 20 games 15 times during Coale's tenture. Oklahoma s non-conference schedule includes matchups against five NCAA Tournament teams from last season (Belmont, DePaul, Oregon, UConn and South Dakota State). Nine of the Sooners' 11 non-conference opponents made postseason appearances last year. OU's non-conference slate along with its 18-game Big 12 schedule will allow the Sooners to play 10 teams that were ranked inside the top 50 of the RPI to finish the season. Oklahoma s 220 made 3-pointers last season were the third-most by the Sooners in a single season in school history. It marked the ninth season under Coale that the Sooners recorded at least 200 triples in a one year. OU s 190 blocks in were the fourth most in school history. Vionise Pierre-Louis ranks fourth in program history with 122 rejections heading into her senior season. The Sooners finished the season as one of the top free throw shooting teams in the Big 12, ranking second in the league with a.736 clip. Nationally, OU was 25th in free throws made. Gabbi Ortiz led the Sooners with her.841 free throw percentage, which ranks 10th in OU single-season history. This season, OU will play 19 games against teams that won at least 20 games last season.
