Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. CT from Lloyd Noble Center. The contest will air on Fox Sports Oklahoma + with Bob Carpenter, Brenda VanLengen and Megan McDonald calling the action. u OU won its first exhibition game of the season last Wednesday, defeating Midwestern State, Five Sooners scored in double figures and OU finished with a.614 shooting percentage (43-of-70) in the victory. Junior Vionise Pierre-Louis led OU with 17 points and six rebounds, while freshman Chelsea Dungee added 15 points, five rebounds and four steals. u The Sooners finished the season with a overall record (11-7 Big 12; tied for fourth) and advanced to the NCAA Tournament (No. 6 seed/second round) for the 17th consecutive year. The Sooners return four starters and 82 percent of their scoring from last year s team including 2016 Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year Vionise Pierre-Louis. Pierre-Louis and redshirt senior guard Peyton Little were recognized by the league s coaches as Preseason All-Big 12 honorable mention selections to begin the year. u Oklahoma head coach Sherri Coale begins her 21st year at the helm of the OU program. Oklahoma is 28-0 in exhibition contests since 2000 OU is beginning its 21st season under head coach Sherri Coale and finished last year. The Sooners return four starters from last year s squad that earned the program s 17thstraight appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Oklahoma City is under the direction of former OU assistant Bo Overton, who is in his second season with the Stars. Wednesday s game will be televised on Fox Sports Oklahoma + with Bob Carpenter, Brenda VanLengen and Megan McDonald announcing. The contest will air on the Sooner Radio Network with Brian Brinkley calling the action. WEALTH OF EXPERIENCE Oklahoma returns loads of experience for the season as four starters and 12 letterwinners are back from last year s squad. That includes 82 percent of its scoring and rebounding, along with 94 percent of its assists from a year ago. The Sooners boast six seniors on their roster, the most for an OU team since the season. It marks the third time for the Sooners to have more than five seniors on their roster and on the previous two occasions, OU has claimed the Big 12 regular season title (2002 and 2007). The pair of highly-touted prospects joined the program in June and competed with the Sooners during OU s nine-day foreign tour to Spain in August. In Wednesday's exhibition win, Dungee added 15 points, five rebounds and four steals off the bench. Mulkey posted three blocks and scored on her first shot attempt as a Sooner. Dungee, a native of Sapulpa, Okla., was ranked the No. 61 prospect (No. 15 guard) in the 2016 class by ESPN Hoop Gurlz. Dungee played her final two prep seasons at Sapulpa High Schools and averaged 18.4 points per game during her senior season. She was named the 2014 Gatorade Oklahoma State Player of the Year after leading Preston High School to a state championship. Mulkey, who was ranked the No. 4 post and No. 19 overall prospect in the 2016 class by ESPN Hoop Gurlz, joins the Sooners from Cypress Woods High School in Cypress, Texas. The tallest signee in OU history, Mulkey led Cypress Woods High School to a state championship in 2015 and was a 2016 McDonald s All-American. The order of finish was selected by the league s head coaches (they were not allowed to vote for their own team). Baylor finished atop the poll with 81 points and nine first-place votes, while Texas was second with 73 points and one first-place vote. The Sooners were third followed by West Virginia (57 points), Kansas State (54 points), TCU (34 points), Iowa State (28 points), Texas Tech (28 points), Oklahoma State (23 points) and Kansas (15 points). LITTLE, PIERRE-LOUIS RECOGNIZED BY BIG 12 Redshirt senior Peyton Little and junior Vionise Pierre-Louis were recognized by the league s coaches as Preseason All-Big 12 Honorable Mention selections. Little was the second-leading scorer for the Sooners last season, averaging 10.9 points per contest. The Abilene, Texas, native hit 51 3-pointers a year ago and averaged 1.7 steals per contest. Entering the season, she ranks 10th in school history in minutes averaged per game (30.1 minutes per game). Pierre-Louis, the 2016 Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year, finished third in the league last season with a.577 field goal percentage. She emerged as one of the Big 12 s top post players in league play, averaging 10.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game. 17 AND COUNTING... PREVIEWING OKLAHOMA CITY Preseason Freshman of the Year Oklahoma City its second under head coach Bo Overton, after finishing with a Lauren Cox, Baylor 20-9 mark and a 12-3 record in the Sooner Athletic Conference last year. Overton played collegiately at OU, setting school records for assists, free throw percentage and games played during his four-year career ( ). He joined Sherri Coale's staff in 1998 and helped the Sooners to 143 wins, three Big 12 regular season titles and a berth in the 2002 Final Four as an assistant at OU ( ). The Stars boast a mix of veterans and new faces year after competing in the NAIA Tournament for the 19th straight season a year ago. NAIA All-American Daniela Wallen returns for OCU after averaging 19.5 points, 9.3 rebounds and 3.3 steals per game a year ago. OCU also brings back returning starters Leah Cheney and Allison Frey. Cheney dished a team-high 3.4 assists per game last season, while Frey posted a.378 clip from 3-point range and averaged 9.7 points per game in QUICK HITS OU reached the 20-win plateau for the 10th time in the last 11 seasons under head coach Sherri Coale last year. The Sooners have won at least 20 games 14 times in Coale s 20 years at Oklahoma. Oklahoma s non-conference schedule includes matchups against four NCAA Tournament teams from last season (BYU, Colorado State, Kentucky and South Dakota State). The Sooners will play nine of their 14 non-conference matchups at Lloyd Noble Center. OU s first six opponents each won at least 20 games a year ago.
