Young went to Princeton where she earned a B.A. in psychology as a two sport athlete, playing both soccer and lacrosse. During her four years on the lacrosse team, she was a threetime IWLCA All America, 4-time All-Ivy selection, and named Ivy League Rookie of the Year. During her senior year, she was named a top-five finalist for the Tewaaraton Award, awarded to the most outstanding American college lacrosse player. Game time is set for 7 P.M. SERIES HISTORY Wednesday night s game will mark the 19th time in school history these two local teams will faceoff. Saint Joseph s holds the all-time record 10-8, but it was the Wildcats who came out victorious last season when these two teams met by a final of VILLANOVA THIS SEASON During last Saturday s match up against the #13/14 Duke Blue Devils, the Wildcats jumped out to an early 2-0 lead thanks to goals by Kelsey Denihan and Jackie Froccaro. Duke came back scoring the final three goals in the first half to have a 3-2 lead heading into halftime. The Blue Devils kept their run going at the start of the second half scoring the first two goals, but Chelsey Henderson put a stop to it and put Villanova within two. Duke scored two more goals in the final minutes to Villanova s one. It was Denihan who scored the Wildcats final goal on a pass inside from Chelsey Henderson to make the final 7-4 Duke. Both teams played strong defensively, Villanova was led by Sam Scarfogliero. Scarfogliero finished with a team high four ground balls. Julia Michaels got her first career start in goal against the Blue Devils, she finished with four saves. A LOOK AT SAINT JOSEPH S The Hawks are 1-6 so far this season with their only win coming to Monmouth on February 24th by a final of Since then Saint Joseph s has lost their last five games with the most recent one coming last Saturday vs. Columbia. During the loss the Hawks were led by Rebecca Lane who scored a team high five goals. HAWKS ATTACK Saint Joseph s offense is led by junior co-captain Nora McCallion, she has 19 goals, 6 assists, and 25 points so far this season. Another threat is Sarah Smith; she is the team s second leading goal scorer with 11. HAWKS MIDFIELD Maggie Egan has been the heart of the midfield for the Hawks this season she leads the team with 13 assists and 21 draw controls. Also Mallory Grey fills the stat line with five goals, six assist, nine ground balls, six draw controls, and seven caused turnovers. HAWKS DEFENSE A strong defender for Saint Joseph s is senior Caroline Hagan. So far this season Hagan has a team high 10 caused turnovers, 12 ground balls, and 11 draw controls. HAWKS GOALKEEPER Genevieve Giblin will get the start in goal for the Hawks. So far this season Giblin has played every minutes of all seven games, has a goal against average, 51 saves, and.349 save percentage.

MICHAELS GETS FIRST CAREER START V.S DUKE Villanova sophomore goalkeeper Julia Michaels started her first collegiate game last Saturday March 19th vs. Duke. Michaels finished with four saves. The week before at Delaware she finished with a career high 13 saves in over 45 minutes in goal. FROCCARO CLIMBING ALL-TIME SCORING LIST Graduate student Jackie Froccaro started the season tied for eight on Villanova s all-time career scorers list with 99 goals. With her 16 goals this season, Jackie now has 116 career goals and has moved into 5th on the alltime list. Currently Froccaro is seven goals away from setting the new program record for most goals in one s career at Villanova. QUALITY COMPETITION As of this week s IWLCA and Media Polls, the Wildcats will face off against two fellow BIG EAST teams in the upcoming weeks that are ranked or receiving notes and have played four team so far that are ranked or receving votes. Florida is ranked 2 in both the IWLCA and Cascade/Maverik Media Poll while UConn received votes in both polls. The four teams the Wildcats have faced that are ranked or recieving votes are #15/14 Duke, Cornell, Bucknell, and Delaware. FROCCARO NAMED BIG EAST PRESEASON OFFEN- SIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR Graduate student Jackie Froccaro was named BIG EAST Preseason offensive Player of the Year, and is coming off a 2015 season where she had 49 goals to helped her earn the title of BIG EAST Attacker of the Year. SCARFOGLIERO NAMED TO BIG EAST PRESEASON TEAM Junior Sam Scarfogliero was selected to the BIG EAST Preseason Team. Last season she was named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team. She lead the Wildcats with 34 ground balls and 27 caused turnovers. WILDCATS FIFTH IN PRESEASON POLL Villanova was picked to finish fifth in the BIG EAST according to the league's 2016 preseason coaches poll. Florida was selected to win the league with five first-place votes. Rounding out the order of finish was Uconn, Georgetown, Vanderbilt, Villanova, Temple, Marquette, and Cincinnati. Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own teams. This is the 6th season for BIG EAST women s lacrosse. Florida won the conference title last year after defeating Uconn in the BIG EAST Championship. WILDCATS NAME 2016 CAPTAINS Villanova has four captains this season, graduate student Jackie Froccaro, senior Chelsey Henderson, senior Tierney Griff, and senior Meghan Breen. NOVA NATION Villanova s 32-woman roster hails from five different states. The states most represented are New York with 12 and New Jersey with 11.

BIG EAST BATTLE The 2016 campaign marks the 6th season of BIG EAST women s lacrosse. The eight conference schools that participate in the league are Florida, Cincinnati, Georgetown, Marquette, Uconn, Vanderbilt, Temple, and Villanova. Villanova is a member of the BIG EAST in 22 other sports. LOOKING BACK Villanova went 9-8 overall and 4-3 in BIG EAST play just one season ago. The team qualified for their first BIG EAST Tournament is school history. Then senior Jackie Froccaro was named BIG EAST Attacker of the Year. Jessica Mucci was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team and Meghan Breen and Sam Scarfogliero were selected to the All-Second Team. Froccaro finished the 2015 season with 49 goals, this is fourth most in a season in program history. She also has 99 goals in her three completed seasons so far at Villanova to tie her for seventh overall. Jessica Mucci, who Young coached for four years at Villanova, now holds the all-time assist record with 102 during her career as a Wildcat. Mucci also holds the highest amount of assists in one season with 39 during her sophomore year (2013). Another first for the team was beating a ranked opponent in Delaware, who was national ranked #19 at the time, came to Villanova Stadium where the Wildcats handed them their first road loss of the season by a final of over the last two seasons, Villanova has posted a winning record. Last year, they finished 9-7 and 4-3 in the BIG EAST. Their nine win season was the most wins since It was a strong victory over fellow BIG EAST team Vanderbilt in the regular season that gave the Wildcats their playoff spot. With two late goals, the first with 4:35 and the last with 0:04; both scored by Mucci and assisted by Froccaro that gave the Wildcats the lead and the win. This win guaranteed the Wildcat s the #4 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament. Young went to Princeton where she earned a B.A. in psychology while being a two sport athlete; playing both soccer and lacrosse. A two-time Tigers soccer captain, three time MVP, four time All-Ivy selection, and three time Mid-Atlantic Regional All America, Young was named the C. otto von Kienbusch Award winner during her senior year. This is awarded annually to a Princeton senior woman of high scholastic rank who has demonstrated general proficiency in athletics and the qualities of a true sportswoman. During her four years on the lacrosse team, the Tigers made two appearances in the NCAA Tournament, in 2000 playing in the national championship game and in 2001 the national semifinals game. She was a three-time IWLCA All America, 4-time All-Ivy selection winner, and named Ivy League Rookie of the Year. During her senior year, she was named a top five finalist for the Tewaaraton Award, which is annually awarded to the most outstanding American college lacrosse player. Following her time as a student athlete, Young played for the USA Women s Lacrosse National Team from while also being an assistant coach at the University of Pennsylvania starting in During her six years at Penn, Young assisted head coach Karin Brower and helped the team to five consecutive winning seasons. During the 2007 season the team made it to the semifinals and in 2008 the national championship game in the NCAA Tournament. Young coached seven All-Americans during her time at Penn and helped coach the team to back-toback undefeated seasons in the Ivy League. In 2008, Young took her first head coaching position at Haverford College, after her first season she was named Centennial Conference Coach of the Year (2009). The following two seasons she led the team to the program s first conference tournament. In 2010, the team set the highest single season win total in program history with 13. For the first time in 11 years during the 2011 season one of Young s players was named to the IWLCA All-American team. Young moved down the road to Villanova University in 2012 to take over as the head coach for the women s lacrosse program. During her four complete seasons as a Wildcat Young has built the program into BIG EAST Tournament contenders. Young is also active in the local lacrosse community. She is the founder of the Philly Blast Lacrosse Club and the co-director of the BaggataGirls. She was also a founding member the Philly Women s Lacrosse League, which gives the opportunity for post-collegiate player to continue to play lacrosse. From , Young served on the Board of Directors as Treasurer for the IWLCA. Julie and her husband Mike have three children, Kelsey, Sydney, and Graham. They make their home in Berwyn, Pa.
