The Boilermakers are scheduled to wear special red, white and blue uniforms Sunday for their annual special jerseys game. It will be military and ROTC appreciation day at the Varsity Soccer Complex. Money raised during the in-game silent auction for the red, white and blue uniforms will be donated to the American Legion. All fans with a military or ROTC ID card will receive free admission. This year s red, white and blue uniforms will feature blue jerseys, white shorts and red socks. Purdue also donned red, white and blue in 2007, wearing white jerseys, blue shorts and red socks that season. The Boilers sported purple jerseys last season to highlight the need for an elimination of domestic violence. Purdue has also worn yellow and pink jerseys in years past for the annual special jerseys game. BOILERMAKERS POST 150TH ALL-TIME WIN Purdue s victory at Northwestern Sept. 30 on the shores of Lake Michigan was the 150th in program history. The Boilermakers reached the sesquicentennial mark in just 14 seasons as a varsity program. Previously, Purdue posted its 50th win in 2003 and 100th victory in HAIRSTON RANKS AS PURDUE S TOP FRESHMAN GOAL SCORER SINCE 2005 Alex Hairston leads Purdue with six goals and is on pace Led Purdue in Goals as a Freshman to lead the team in scoring as a freshman. Her six goals Player represent the most by a freshman since Jessica Okorofao Jessica Okoroafo scored 10 in 2005, establishing a program freshman record. Parrissa Eyorokon Goals 10 4 Year Parrissa Eyorokon, Lauren Sesselmann, Annette Kent, Jennie Lauren Sesselmann Moppert and Chrissy Creamer were also Purdue s top Annette Kent goal scorers as freshmen. Okoroafo (35 career goals, 1st), Jennie Moppert Sesselmann (34, 2nd), Kent (31, 3rd), Eyorokon (27, 4th) Chrissy Creamer and Moppert (17, 7th) all finished their careers among the program s all-time Top PURDUE CHANGES UP BACK FOUR Jordan Frick, Brookley Rogers, Jessica Warren and Shae Desmond started each of the first 12 games as Purdue s defensive back four. But the coaching staff changed up the defensive alignment for the first time in the Sept. 30 win at Northwestern, with only Frick remaining in the same position. Rogers moved to outside back and Marta Lynch and Alexis Tryba were inserted as the center backs. All four players went the distance in both games of the Northwestern-Illinois road trip. Lynch had not played in 14 consecutive games the final two matches of 2010 and first 12 this season before rejoining the mix for the first Big Ten road trip of the season. WINNING STREAK VERSUS NORTHWESTERN EXTENDED TO EIGHT Behind goals from Kellie Phillips and Alex Hairston, Purdue posted its eighth consecutive win against Northwestern on a windy night along the shores of Lake Michigan Sept. 30. The eight-game win streak represents the Boilers longest against any opponent in program history. They have not lost to the Wildcats since Previously, Purdue won seven consecutive games against Big Ten rivals Indiana, Minnesota and Ohio State. The Boilermakers are also riding a current 14-game ( ) unbeaten streak against rival Indiana. That streak includes three draws in the last seven meetings. KRIDLER SECOND IN BIG TEN IN SAVES Clara Kridler has performed well in her first opportunity to be the full-time starting goalkeeper this year. She has helped Purdue shutout Toledo, Colorado and Indiana State and enters the weekend ranked second in the Big Ten with 74 saves, close behind league-leader Hayley Kopmeyer of Michigan. Kridler has averaged over five saves per game, making a season-high eight saves in the season-opening win against Toledo and the 1-1 draw with Iowa. She has made six or more saves in six other contests. SEVENTEEN SEE THE CHANCE TO START Seventeen different players have received an opportunity to start in Purdue s first 14 games of the season. But more telling, the Boilers have utilized eight different starting lineups in their first 14 games. Only four players Jordan Frick, Alex Hairston, Brookley Rogers and goalkeeper Clara Kridler have started each of the first 14 matches and nine players have seen action in every game. In comparison, seven players started every game and 10 players saw action in all 20 games of Katie Leinert, Lauren Montenegro, Kellie Phillips, Alexis Tryba and Jessica Warren were among those seven players that started every game of All five players have come off the bench at least once this season. In fact, Montenegro did not start for the first time in her Purdue career Aug. 26 against Longest Winning Streaks vs. an Opponent (Minimum 5 Games) Opponent Streak Years Last Game Northwestern Pr 2011 Indiana NA Minnesota NA Ohio State NA Michigan St NA Butler Pr 2009 DePaul Pr 2005 Career Games Started Purdue All-Time Leaders Player Starts Years Jessica Okoroafo Kira Bilecky Mary Masck Lauren Sesselmann Elise Berry Lauren Mason Christy Riggle Lauren Montenegro Pr Kellie Phillips Pr Oregon State. She still logged 71 minutes in the loss, playing the entire second half. But it ended Montenegro s team-long streak of 65 consecutive games started dating back to Phillips had started 46 consecutive games when she came off the bench Sept. 14 against Indiana State.

3 ROGERS CONTINUES TO BE IRON WOMAN With additional depth and fewer injuries this season, Purdue head coach Robert Klatte divided up the minutes more evenly during the nonconference portion of the season. But defender Brookley Rogers has remained a constant among the field players. Rogers has yet to leave the field this season after also playing every minute of every game in The senior has gone the distance in 35 consecutive games dating back to November Fellow defender Jessica Warren went the distance in 10 of the 12 games she started (all but Missouri and Indiana State) to open the season before moving to reserve roll in time for the Big Ten road trip to Northwestern and Illinois Sept. 30 through Oct. 2. HAIRSTON ACCOUNTS FOR FIRST TWO SCORES OF BIG TEN SEASON Alex Hairston enters the weekend leading the team with five goals. She has accounted for the first two goals of Big Ten play, scoring a second-half equalizer in the Sept. 18 loss to Michigan State and giving Purdue an early lead in the Sept. 25 draw with Iowa. Hairston has joined Katie Leinert as the only Boilers in program history to score Purdue s first two goals of the Big Ten portion of a season. Leinert accomplished the feat in 2009, accounting for an equalizer in a conference-opening draw at Wisconsin and the game-winner against Northwestern. MARLBOROUGH S HAT TRICK BURNS BOILERS IN LOSS TO NEBRASKA Morgan Marlborough s hat trick accounted for all the scoring in the first Purdue-Nebraska Big Ten game, won by the Huskers, 3-0, Sept. 23 at the Varsity Soccer Complex. With Purdue having rarely surrendered three goals to an opposing team (much less a single player) at home over the years, Marlborough s hat trick is believed to be only the second by a visiting player, and the first at the Varsity Soccer Complex. The other hat trick against Purdue in West Lafayette was recorded by Marquette s Kelly Roethe in the program s 1998 inaugural game. However, Marquette won that game, 10-1, which was played at the intramural soccer fields. Entering the season, Purdue had surrendered three or more goals in a home game at the Varsity Soccer Complex (1999-present) only six times. FOURTH STRAIGHT PURDUE-IOWA OVERTIME GAME IN WEST LAFAYETTE Purdue and Iowa played into overtime for the fourth consecutive game in West Lafayette Sept. 25 in the finale of the Boilers eight-game homestand. However, while the previous three OT games ended on golden goals (two for Purdue, one for Iowa), this year s game finished as a 1-1 draw. Including a scoreless draw in Iowa City in 2006, five of the last seven Purdue-Iowa games have now gone to overtime. HAIRSTON BIG TEN FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK After playing a role in three of the Boilers five goals the week of Sept , Alex Hairston was selected as the Big Ten Freshman of the Week. She scored the Boilers third goal in the Sept. 14 win against Indiana State and accounted for an equalizer in the second half of the conference opener versus Michigan State. She also assisted on Hadley Stuart s second of two goals against ISU. Hairston became the first Purdue freshman to score in her Big Ten debut since Jessica Stellhorn in Stellhorn went on to win Freshman of the Year honors. Hairston represents the Boilers first Freshman of the Week honoree since Jessica Warren in November 2009 and the first Purdue player to receive one of the league s three weekly awards since former goalkeeper Carianne Betts was selected the Defensive Player of the Week in September BOILERS SCORE FOUR IN RAINY SHUTOUT OF INDIANA STATE Thanks to goals from Lauren Montenegro, Hadley Stuart (two) and Alex Hairston, Purdue scored a season-high four goals in its nonconference final, a shutout win against Indiana State on a rainy night (Sept. 14) at the Varsity Soccer Complex. It was the Boilers first four-goal showing since defeating St. Bonaventure, 4-1, in August Hairston also assisted on Stuart s second goal to join Kellie Phillips and Rachael Kimack as active Boilers with a goal an assist in the same game. Purdue registered 10 of its season-high 11 corner kicks in the second half of the rainy game. The 11 corners were the most since the Boilers had 12 in an August 2010 draw with Miami (Fla.). STUART & KURAMOTO THRIVE ON MULTI NIGHT Hadley Stuart scored twice and Mollie Kuramoto setup a pair of goals in the Sept. 14 win against Indiana State. Stuart scored off a Kuramoto assist in the final minute of the first half and also accounted for Purdue s final goal of the night in the 65th minute. In the process, she was finally able to break through and record her first collegiate goal, ending a frustrating recent stretch that had seen her nearly score on multiple occasions. Stuart became the first Boiler to score twice in the same game in which she recorded her first collegiate goal since Katie Seeger in the 2009 season opener versus Ohio. The August 2010 home win against Morehead State marked the last multi-goal and multi-assist games by Boilers. Marta Lynch scored twice and Liz Secue setup two goals in that victory. Alexis Tryba (2009 vs. Ball State) is the other active Boiler with a collegiate multi-goal game. However, Kuramoto is now the only current Purdue player with a multi-assist game. She has setup goals by Chinyelu Asher, Stuart and Hairston (two) this season. Entering the Nebraska-Iowa weekend, Kuramoto has tallied an assist in each of the last three games that Purdue has scored. PURDUE ALL-TIME LEADERS GOALS ASSISTS 1. J. Okoroafo, L. Sesselmann, L. But not much went right in extra time. The Boilers lost to USC and Kansas on golden goals late in the first OT. The Cal State Northridge game ended in a 2-2 draw, but Northridge won the exhibition shootout, 3-2, to determine which team advanced to the championship game of the Boilermaker Challenge Cup (won by Dayton). It marked only the second time in program history that Purdue played in three straight overtime affairs. The 2002 postseason featured three consecutive OT games, including an overtime win against Indiana and a shootout loss to Ohio State at the Big Ten Tournament and a shootout win against Eastern Illinois in the Boilers first-ever NCAA game. Purdue is now in its last eight overtime games dating back to the 2010 season opener, an overtime loss to Toledo. The Boilers last overtime win was against Iowa in the 2009 regular-season finale. Purdue played an additional 36 minutes of game action during its three straight overtime games. ASHER & FRICK SCORE THEIR FIRST COLLEGIATE GOALS IN DRAW The Boilermakers battled back from a 2-0 halftime deficit to salvage a 2-2 draw with Cal State Northridge Sept. 9 on the opening night of the Boilermaker Challenge Cup. Chinyelu Asher and Jordan Frick scored their first collegiate goals in the second half to pull Purdue even. It marked the first time since a September 2008 home win against Illinois State that two Boilers scored their first goals in the same game. Lauren Montenegro and Britney Scott were the first-time scorers that day. Purdue had not been involved in a draw since battling Wisconsin to a scoreless tie in the 2010 Big Ten opener, a stretch of 15 consecutive games. However, with four goals being scored in the Purdue-Northridge game, the high-scoring draw was an even more rare occurrence. The Boilermakers had not played in a draw in which four goals were scored since Aug. 31, 2003 against Eastern Michigan. That was game two of the 2003 season and, coincidentally, also a Boilermaker Challenge Cup game. DOUBLE-FIGURE SHOTS ON GOAL TOTAL DOESN T EQUAL WIN VERSUS KANSAS Purdue registered a season-high 11 shots on goal in the overtime loss to Kansas Sept. 11 on day two of the Boilermaker Challenge Cup. Unfortunately, the Boilers were unable to capitalize on numerous quality scoring chances and were shutout, 1-0. Kansas goalkeeper Kat Liebetrau made all 11 saves. Clara Kridler also played well in goal for Purdue, finishing with seven saves. The Boilermakers have now lost their last two games in which they have recorded a double-figure total of shots on goal. In the 2010 season finale, Purdue recorded 12 shots on goal but could not maintain a 2-0 lead, losing 3-2 at Iowa. The Kansas loss marked the first time since the beginning of the 2007 season that the Boilers were shutout in a game in which they recorded at least 10 shots on goal. It was a streak of 22 consecutive games with 10-plus SOGs in which Purdue had managed to score at least once. The loss to Iowa last year snapped the Boilers 21- game unbeaten (18-0-3) streak in games with at least 10 shots on goal. FRESHMEN TEAM UP FOR GAME-WINNER IN PURDUE S FIRST HOME NIGHT GAME Freshmen Alex Hairston and Chinyelu Asher teamed up for the only goal in Purdue s 1-0 win against Colorado Sept. 2 in the first-ever night game at the Varsity Soccer Complex. Asher tallied her first collegiate assist, helping the Boilers maintain possession and eventually setting up Hairston s second goal of the season. Hairston scored the game-winning goal in each of Purdue s first two victories this year, both 1-0 wins. In the process, she joined Alexis Tryba (2008) and Jessica Okoroafo (2005) as the only players in program history to account for the game-winning goal in the first two victories of their freshmen seasons. Okoroafo went on to score the game-winner in each of the first three victories of her freshman campaign. And the 2008 season featured a freshman accounting for the game-winner in each of Purdue s first six victories. After Tryba scored the decisive goal in wins against Eastern Illinois and Oregon, Lauren Montenegro did likewise versus Illinois State in win No. 3. Tryba had another game-winner in the Boilers next victory, making each of her first three collegiate goals game-winners. WARREN SCORES FIRST GOAL OUTSIDE OF BIG TEN PLAY Jessica Warren gave Purdue a halftime lead in the overtime loss to USC Sept. 4, connecting on a free kick about five minutes before the break. It was her sixth career goal, but first outside of Big Ten play. As her fifth career goal at the Varsity Soccer Complex, she is second among active players for most goals at home. Kellie Phillips (7), Lauren Montenegro (6) and Alexis Tryba (5) have also scored at least five times at the Varsity Soccer Complex. USC won the Illini/Boilermaker Cup after defeating both Illinois and Purdue during the Big Ten-Pac-12 weekend challenge, which also featured Colorado. Alex Hairston, Mollie Kuramoto and Clara Kridler represented Purdue on the all-tournament team. The Boilermakers had nine corners in their first overtime loss since falling to nationally-ranked Texas A&M in September 2010 at the Varsity Soccer Complex. Purdue also enjoyed its first halftime lead of the season in the loss to USC. PURDUE SUFFERS FIRST LOSS WHEN TRYBA SCORES The Boilermakers took an early lead in the Aug. 28 loss at Missouri when Alexis Tryba scored her eighth career goal in the 21st minute off a nice pass from Alex Hairston. But after Missouri responded with three unanswered goals and went on to win, 4-2, the Boilers suffered their first-ever loss when Tryba scored. With four of her eight goals proving to be game-winners, she has supplied the game-deciding score with half of her goals. BLACHA SCORES IN HER FIRST TWO STARTS Kaitlyn Blacha finished off a corner kick chance in the second half at Missouri for her second career goal. The senior was in the starting lineup for the first time this season in the Aug. 28 loss in Columbia. Coincidentally, she scored goals in each of her first two collegiate starts.
