Prize Money 1st $40; 2nd $25; 3rd $10; unless otherwise stated. > Junior classes for Dairy Cattle 2 years & under. > Competition in ALL Cattle Classes is restricted to animals which are registered as Adults or in Calf Progeny Register of the respective Herd Book of Societies in Australia, or are Appendix animals where applicable, and will abide by their breed rules and ethics of showing. > When completing entry form Cattle Exhibitors either sign waiver provided OR must provide a copy of their Certificate of Currency. > Please show the name of the animal on the entry form. > The age of Beef Cattle is at the date of the Show each year. > Junior champions in the Beef section are under 18 months, unless specified. > Most Successful exhibitor is calculated: 1st = 3 points, 2nd = 2 points, 3rd = 1 point. > It is a Department of Primary Industries requirement that All cattle leaving a property including cattle attending agricultural shows, must carry an NLIS tag at the time of dispatch. EXHIBITORS, WHILST AT THE SHOW, WORK WITHIN THE OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY LEGISLATION OF THE STATE OF VICTORIA. FOR REASONS OF OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY THE FOLLOWING WILL APPLY: > All Bulls over 12 mths of age must be led by a ring through the nose, bulls 9-12 mths by a nose grip. No bull 2 yrs and over to be led by person under 18 yrs of age. > All beef females over 9 months must be led with a nose grip. > All cattle are to be tethered by a halter and also secured by a neck strap. > Cattle must be supervised by the owner/handler at all times. > Smoking is not permitted in the cattle area. 2 AWARD THE GRAHAM ALLAN HERDSPERSON AWARD The aim of this award is to recognise the encouragement and contribution given by Graham Allan to our Dairy and Beef Exhibitors. The award aims to identify a person who contributes in the preparation of, and/or showing of cattle. It is open to all participants within the Cattle area. The Herdsperson Award will be judged throughout the day and presentations will take place after the final event. PRIZE A perpetual trophy which is to be kept at the Showgrounds, plus a personal trophy donated by Ricky & Melissa Ferris, for the winner to keep. Competitors who have qualified at a show society are eligible to compete at another show in the same year. Judging to commence after Paraders Competition. Competitors should report to the Chief Steward by 12.30pm. 1st $15; 2nd $10; 3rd $5; plus Society Sash. HAND MILKING COMPETITION FREE ENTRY Entries to be lodged with the Chief Steward, by 11.30am. The event will commence at the conclusion of the Dairy Cattle Paraders and Judging competitions. Prize Money: 1st $20; 2nd $10; 3rd $5. The object of this competition is to extract as much milk as possible from the cow in two minutes. > Competitors to supply their own Cow, bucket & seat. > The competition is open to anyone wishing to participate. > All buckets are placed 5 paces behind the cow. > Competitors have 15 seconds to stimulate the cow. > Competitors have 2 minutes to milk their cow, starting from 5 paces behind the cow at the bucket. > Milk extracted will be poured into a weighing bucket or measured in a jug. 5 HOOF & HOOK COMPETITION SUNDAY 11th NOVEMBER Judging will commence at 11.00am Announcer: Geoff King PROPHARMA kindly donating bags of minerals which will be distributed on showday. > The Dandenong Agricultural & Pastoral Society Inc. will charge 3% on gross proceeds of cattle, to cover transport and costs. > Entry fee: $15.00 per entry. Class selection will be on live weight. > Carcases will be judged on MSA standards. > Carcase weight could change due to numbers entered. > The required fat depths for carcass appraisal are as per the following table. 7 SHEEP for BOTH Sheep Sections > All Exhibitors are required to purchase entry into showgrounds. > Showground Gates open 6.30am both days. > All sheep to remain penned until 4pm. > All sheep exhibitors must be the bona-fide property of a current financial member of breed society. > All sheep exhibited must have no more than 12 months or less than 3cm wool growth. > Sheep entered in Black & Coloured lamb classes must have milk teeth intact. > No sheep will be allowed to compete if infected with footrot or other external parasite. > All rams exhibited over six months of age must be from an accredited Ovine Brucellosis Free flock, or have a current veterinary certificate proving a negative status. > Exhibits not accepted from flocks or properties where OJD is known or suspected to exist in the past 5 years. > Best Wether.
