(v-('w~-7 Subject: 2012 LOS ANGELES MARATHON ANNUAL REPORT At its meeting of September 19, 2008, the City Council approved an amendment to the Los Angeles Marathon Contract which provides for the City Administrative Officer (CAO) to establish an Ad Hoc Committee to be jointly chaired with the Chief Legislative Analyst (CLA), with the Mayor as an ex-officio member. The purpose of the Ad Hoc Committee is to meet with the Los Angeles Marathon organizer, Los Angeles Marathon, Inc. (LAM), to discuss issues and resolve potential problems concerning upcoming Los Angeles Marathon events. The City Council also instructed the Ad Hoc Committee to prepare and submit a "pre-race" progress report to the Council relative to the implementation of the race. Furthermore, Council instructed the Ad Hoc Committee to submit an annual report to the Budget and Finance Committee, which provides an assessment of the success of the event and areas requiring improvement. The pre-race progress report for the 2012 Marathon was transmitted to Council on March 4, 2012 (C.F ). Attached is the annual report prepared by the LAM for the 2012 Marathon, which was on March 18, The departments involved in supporting the 2012 Marathon also reported that there were no major incidents. 2 - 2 - RECOMMENDATION That the Council note and file this report inasmuch as it is for informational purposes only. FISCAL IMPACT There is no impact to the General Fund since the City's direct costs, in accordance with the contract, are reimbursed by LA Marathon, Inc.
