RAPPAHANNOCK RIVER YACHT CLUB Irvington, VA NOVEMBER 2018 The Headway 2018 Typhoon Racing Season Summary By Ned Crockett Once again, the Typhoon racing season has been action packed and extremely successful. Each event brought Typhoon racers together for friendly but fierce competition. This success would not have been possible without the strong support of RRYC and those who organized and conducted the events. (continued on page 4)

RRYC Annual Meeting: Our annual meeting will be held at 16:00 hours on November 17th. In addition to our annual awards recognizing member achievements and contributions, reports on the state of the club, and election of officers and directors, we will have a report on the Dock Replacement Project as well as an update on our improved website. We need a quorum for the meeting to elect officers, so if you cannot attend please submit your proxy. A proxy form and instructions have been ed to you. Hospice Turkey Shoot Regatta: The 2018 Turkey Shoot was a great event with 88 boats registered and two good weather days. Thanks to the many RRYC members who volunteered their time and capabilities to make the event a success. My only disappointment was that we did not win the John and Carol Jean McConnico trophy for top Yacht Club. Next year! No Wake Zone: On September 25th the Lancaster Board of Supervisors approved the No Wake Zone application of RRYC, Rappahannock Yachts and Crockett s Landing. We will be submitting our application to the VA Department of Game and Inland Fisheries for final approval within the next month. I look forward to seeing everyone at the annual meeting. 3 NOVEMBER 2018 Page 3 From the Vice Commodore By Danielle Kuper As the skippers and crew of the six boats competing in the Commodore s Cup scurried around preparing their boats, the PRO and his crew were busy too. Tetrahedrons were blown up; signal flags were inventoried; pens, notebook, binoculars, US Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing manual, anemometer, hand held compass, wind direction indicator, timer, and VHF radio were all located. Then, armed with the day s weather and wind forecast, the red Signal Boat Wildfire and the Mark Boat Doug Power headed out into the river. With a good six to eight knots of wind blowing, it was decided that a fairly long triangular course could be set. The mark boat dropped the marks, taking care to check the depth of the leeward mark since it was down toward the south shore. Silver Fox with skipper Win Schwab from YPRCC sailed by and dropped his entry form into the net held out by the committee boat crew. One by one the competitors checked in: the Latell family on Dogfish, Ed Johnson on Hippo, team Ormesher on Pocahontas, Commodore Tom Chapman on Hot Air, and Arabella Denvir on Trouble. Two classes were run: a spinnaker class and a non-spin class. But with only two boats in the spin class, the PRO opted to start all the boats at once. The non-spin boats were assigned a triangle course and the spin class a windward leeward twice around. Off they sailed with a good clean start in perfect fall conditions. After a while it became apparent that the wind was changing. The puffs became ominously weaker and not always from the same NNE direction. Spin class skippers Tom and Arabella had made it around the leeward mark and were headed back up to the windward mark when a serious problem arose. The crew of Hippo informed us that the bottom of the river was disagreeing with our assurance that the leeward mark was in 35 feet of water! Hippo was, in fact, aground! The PRO now had some decisions to make. Clearly the leeward mark was moving. With only one mark boat on duty, and the spin boats slowly making their way towards the windward mark in weakening wind, what to do? The decision was to abandon the non-spin class and to shorten the course for the spin sailors. The mark boat was positioned near the windward mark flying the S flag with two toots of the horn, meaning that when Hot Air rounded that mark he had won the race. As the non-spin boats returned to the start, Arabella soldiered on in weak, squirrelly puffs of wind to finish her race. Her perseverance was to pay off! All boats returned to the start and waited to see what the wind would do. It did pick up, but out of the west all of a sudden! The wing mark of the first race could be used as a windward mark for the second. Given the recent weak wind, a shortened windward leeward course was assigned for the second race. But then the wind began to strengthen, and strengthen, and strengthen! By the time the starting horn went off all six boats were madly zig zagging along the start line, jockeying for position with more speed and momentum than they were expecting. The PRO ruled all but one of them over early, and a general recall had to be signaled with two toots of the horn and the substitute flag. The second start was more orderly and given the strong wind, the race was over in no time. A poll was taken among the competitors and it seemed that everyone was ready to call it a day. Congratulations to Arabella and Trouble for winning the spinnaker class, and to Ed on Hippo for the non-spin class.

Page 4 From the Rear Commodore By Ed Peake NOVEMBER 2018 Calling all interested Home Chef s, we are looking for an individual or individuals to assume the responsibility for preparing the monthly Social Dinners next year. If you are interested please contact me at empeake5@gmail.com or As the boating season is coming to an end, it is time to start thinking about winterizing your boat and if you plan to haul out for the winter. There is a lot of free information on the web for the do it yourself individuals, like the Boater s Guide to Winterizing on the boatus.com/seaworthy/winter site. West Marine also has information about winterizing your boat, or you can let one of the local boatyards do it for you. Typhoon Racing Season (continued from page 1) The season began the end of April with the first race of the Spring Series and the Community Sailing Day. The Women s Sailing Clinic held on two Sundays followed. In June the very successful Typhoon Nationals was held with Typhoon owners coming from near and far to compete. The Fall Series began the end of August and concluded with a fun Awards Dinner. Oh yes, before the end of the Fall Series, Typhoons sailed as a fleet in the always successful Hospice Turkey Shoot. I am sure you will agree that there were many opportunities for Typhoon owners to enjoy competitive sailing throughout the sailing season, and to receive recognition at the annual Awards Dinner. To learn the recipients of the awards, go to rryc.org and pull up Typhoon Racing. There you will find who raced and their standing at the end of the event/year. (continued on page 5)

NOVEMBER 2018 Page 5 Typhoon Racing Season (continued from page 4) Three cheers to Bob Damon who has agreed to serve the Typhoon Fleet in 2019 as Fleet Commander. He follows Arabella who did a fantastic job as our leader while having to address a family problem in Ireland. A huge THANK YOU to Arabella and condolences to her for losing her mother. While Arabella was away, Tom Watkins stepped in and provided leadership. Thank you Tom. (continued on page 6)

Page 6 Typhoon Racing Season (continued from page 5) NOVEMBER 2018 As I have mentioned, the success we have experienced would not have been possible without the support of many folk including, of course, RRYC. I will not attempt to mention all by name, but we know who they are and we greatly appreciate their giving of their time, talent, and effort to the Typhoon racing fleet. Hal Starke provided PRO leadership. Danielle Kuper once again provided leadership for the Typhoon Nationals. Mosby, Debbie, Tom Linville, and George Kuper served as PRO for the Series racing. Each had their Race Committee who performed flawlessly. Signing off until we meet again, Ned. Submitting Items to The Headway All items for publication should be submitted via to rrycheadwayeditors@gmail.com no later than the 20 th of the prior month (i.e. by November 20 th for December publication). 7 NOVEMBER 2018 Page RRYC Officers and Board of Directors Nominees Commodore - Tom Chapman I have served as Commodore of RRYC for 2018, after serving as Vice Commodore and PHRF Fleet Commander in previous years. Being a part of your outstanding Board of Directors has been a privilege, and I look forward to serving again if elected. Thank you for your support. Vice Commodore - Danielle Kuper Danielle earned a B.SC (chemistry) from the University of the Witwatersrand and then a Higher Diploma in Personnel Management from the Business School. In 1980 Danielle went to work for a gas chemical company writing training programs for the salesman. In 1982 Danielle married George and moved to Connecticut where she was a stay at home mother. The family acquired a 42 yawl and joined Pequot Yacht Club. George, Danielle and their two sons cruised the waters off Connecticut, Massachusetts and Maine for more than a decade, using the boat as a summer home. During that time, the family also joined the New York Yacht Club and participated in a few races. In 1989 they moved to Michigan. Danielle volunteered in the enrichment program at her children s primary school and when the boys went to high school, Danielle was an active committee member and then Chairlady of the school s annual fundraising auction event. Upon George s retirement in 2011, the family moved to Irvington, acquired a Typhoon and joined the RRYC. Danielle enjoys participating in the various RRYC events, and in 2016 and 2018 chaired the Typhoon Nationals. Danielle was Vice Commodore in 2018 and looks forward to serving another term. Rear Commodore - Ed Peake Ed learned to sail on the lakes in Wisconsin as a teenager and enjoyed sailing on Barnegat Bay in New Jersey, the Finger Lakes in New York, as well as the BVI s before moving to Virginia. He has been sailing on the Chesapeake Bay since 2001 from Havre de Grace to Norfolk and enjoying all the great places on the Bay. Ed was the Editor of the Headway in He is a member of the Beavers, has volunteered for the Junior Sailing, and he has served as Rear Commodore the last two years. He lives in Weems on Moran Creek with his wife, Kathie Hegler, and her son Evan, their two dogs and cat. He keeps their sailboat at RRYC and their Boston Whaler at their dock at home. Treasurer - Art Gilbert I moved full-time from Baltimore to the Northern Neck in 2014 after a career in Finance and joined RRYC in My wife Martha and I make as many of the First Friday and monthly Club Socials as we can, and I race with the RRYC Typhoon fleet. The Northern Neck has been a great place to indulge my interests in boating, biking, yoga, and building and restoring wooden boats (with an exception made for my Typhoon). I also swing a hammer with Habitat for Humanity, and I am on the board of the Foundation for Historic Christ Church. On the water, in addition to my Typhoon I race a nutshell dinghy with the Northern Neck Nutshell Association on the Great Wicomico. And with two college friends I ve kayaked to every barrier island off the Virginia Eastern Shore, a 10-year process that let us sample the full length of Route 13. RRYC is a great organization and I d enjoy the opportunity to serve. (continued on page 8)

Page 8 NOVEMBER Nominees (continued from page 7) Secretary - Candace Franco I m just beginning to get a handle on this secretary job. It s not that complicated, but I am after all RETIRED! I really like working with this board and would like to give it one more year. I am a Midwesterner who had the good luck to meet a guy from Connecticut who also liked water and boats. We had 16 wonderful years cruising our Bristol on Long Island Sound, the Great Lakes and finally sailed her to the Chesapeake in We just sold our Typhoon this spring and are now former boat owners who still like to hear a good sailing story. I love that RRYC is dynamic, growing, and changing. The sound of the little kids in the pool is music to my ears. I love Saturday mornings in the kitchen with the social committee. I enjoy rocking with a glass of wine on the porch, and my own water aerobics activity in the pool. Director - Ian Ormesher From age 4 through 13, Ian Ormesher lived as far from the sea as possible in his native England. At age 13, he moved to the coast near the Lake District and so began his enduring relationship with the sea and all things nautical. After completing a degree in Civil Engineering in Swansea, Wales (where he owned his first boat), Ormesher joined the Army. As a young officer he specialized in diving including underwater construction and demolition. He then joined the Cable & Wireless group of companies, who were the owners of the largest undersea cable laying fleet in the world, though Ormesher s roles were focused on Human Resources and Business Process Development. In a later role, Ormesher was a Director with C&W Nautec, an organization focused on supporting the global container shipping industry. Ormesher completed his employment with C&W working for C&W Global and relocated to Fairfax County, VA. He now works as a consultant in the cell tower and utility industries. Boating, fishing, rugby and sailing are key areas of interest. Ormesher is particularly keen to encourage youth of all ages and sexes to engage in physically active and thought demanding pastimes. As such, he regards sailing as sport that should be nurtured to flourish by emphasizing availability, fun and personal fulfillment. Director - Brad Perry Brad Perry and his wife, Joan, have been members of RRYC since Brad, a former Air Force pilot and retired NASA engineer and manager, has been sailing for over 40 years. He enjoyed cruising and racing in Houston, Texas while working with NASA and made one Gulf of Mexico crossing before moving to Virginia in He raced in the Seaford Yacht Club s PHRF races over 20 years while working with NASA Langley in Hampton. Since moving to Irvington in 2017, he has raced in the Ty 2018 Spring and Fall Series, and also in the 2017 and 2018 Turkey Shoot regattas. Brad and Joan have been active in the RRYC socials, and have served as The Headway editors since September As Headway editors, they have sought to increase the monthly newsletter s breath of coverage, while standardizing the format and providing on-time delivery. Director - Ann Vaden Peter and I have been sailing on Taiping, our Hunter 30 good old boat, since 2005, and have been members of RRYC since Before we moved to Weems, we docked the boat at RRYC for a couple of happy seasons. We ve had good times getting to know new boating friends at the Club and especially socializing on the porch. At the Club, I have enjoyed working with the Social Committee and sailing on a few overnights with the Cruisers. I look forward to being more involved with the Club.

NOVEMBER 2018 Page 9 RRYC Cruisers Fun-Filled Final Fling of the Fall! By Steve Zukor Four of our club s intrepid cruising boats planned to set out for their final trip of the season on the very day that the remnants of hurricane Michael were passing over the Chesapeake Bay. Sustained winds at Stingray Point at the mouth of the Rappahannock reached 36 knots, with gusts to over 48 knots on that day. Maximum wave heights were 8 feet! Our group included Ted Kvell on Bottlenose, Ken & Kay Vincent on Autumn Wind, Tom & Cheryl Wicks on Eminence, and Sheila & me on Wetted Bliss. Wisely, we watched the forecasts and decided to delay our departure on Friday, October 12, to avoid such severe conditions. By Saturday, the wind had dropped to a more reasonable 10 to 15 knots, but electric power was out at all of our houses and indeed the entire area. None of us wanted to leave our homes until power was restored. Steve and Sheila s house was the last of us to be reconnected early Saturday afternoon, so we decided to depart Sunday morning for Cape Charles on Virginia s eastern shore, on our way to the Norfolk area. Many thanks to Dominion Power s hardworking repair crews for getting our electricity back so quickly! Sunday turned out to be a very nice day. The wind was at 5 to 10 knots. The only problem was that it was right on our nose, so we had to motor the whole 41 nautical miles. Not only are the town docks at Cape Charles a good stopping off point for our cruise south, it is also home to the Shanty restaurant. There, we enjoyed socializing at happy hour and eating fresh, well prepared seafood for dinner. On Monday, we headed for Hampton Yacht Club. It was only 24 nautical miles away, but we had to endure a cool, windy day on the Bay to get there. Winds were SW at 15 to 20 knots and again, right on our nose. Adding about 5 knots of boat speed, the apparent wind on our boats was 20 to 25 knots! We had to bash our way through 3 to 4 foot waves, taking lots of seawater spray against our dodger and enduring occasional slamming of our hull as it fell off the bigger waves. Really it wasn t THAT bad! And, we were not alone out there. The Bay was teeming with all kinds of pleasure boats, both sail and power, mostly headed south as part of the fall migration to warmer climes for the winter. Tom thought some might be staging in the Hampton area for the annual Salty Dawg Rally to the Caribbean, which was to depart November 3 rd. One boat that Tom saw was named Spray, from Maine. The ship s dog and captain certainly looked authentically salty! When we arrived in Hampton, the club gave us free slips and T-heads, and invited us to join them for happy hour and dinner. The club was hopping, as they just had a big membership meeting and Tom enjoyed chatting up some of the HYC members at the bar. Everyone had a good time! Tuesday morning found us heading the 12 nautical miles south to Tidewater Marina in Portsmouth. It was a cloudy, cool and windy day. The nice thing was that the wind was from the north, behind us, making for a (continued on page 10)

Page 10 Final Fling (continued from page 9) NOVEMBER 2018 pleasant trip. Some of us raised sails, and others just motored due to the heavy commercial and Navy ship traffic on the James and Elizabeth rivers. We cruised by docked aircraft carriers, submarines, and all kinds of other ships. Jets and helicopters zoomed about overhead. Marine police boats were everywhere, protecting the ships from river traffic like us. Quite a sight! At one point, we looked back and it seemed like Autumn Wind was about to be run down by a huge container ship! However, on the radio, Ken & Kay assured us that they were fine. After tying up at the marina, we grabbed lunch at the marina café, Fish n Slips. It served big portions and had a great view of the river. That evening, we hopped on a stretched golf cart limo which took all of us to the Commodore Theater. It s a 1950s-vintage fully restored theater, showing first-run movies on a big state-of-the-art digital screen, with awesome THX sound. We watched A Star Is Born, sitting in comfy, upholstered easy chairs around small tables while enjoying drinks and dinner. What is not to like! (continued on page 11)

NOVEMBER 2018 Page 11 Final Fling (continued from page 10) Wednesday was a lay day with nice weather. We rode the town ferry across the river to the newly redeveloped Waterside complex. Once there, we caught a minivan cab to the famous Chrysler Museum, a few blocks east. We spent most of the day at this amazing place. It had a large variety of art including glass, paintings, and sculptures, some ancient and some modern. My words cannot do it justice. We had lunch at the museum café and found the food to be excellent. We made it back to Waterside in time for happy hour and a nice dinner at Guy Fieri s Smokehouse, before catching the ferry back to our boats. A cold front swept through Portsmouth on Thursday morning, bringing sunny, cool, and very windy conditions. The wind was North at 20 to 25 knots, with gusts to 30 knots! We stayed in our slips, then at noon had lunch at Fish n Slips. When we finally dropped lines to head back to Hampton Yacht Club, the wind had slacked to 10 to 15 knots. By the time we arrived, the wind had almost died, making docking a breeze! We didn t expect much to be happening at the club on a Thursday evening, but we found to our delight that it was PIZZA NIGHT! More happy hour, more food, fun, and fellowship! This is my kind of cruising!! For our return home, we had somewhat of a dilemma. From Hampton YC, it is 54 nautical miles to our dock. Usually, this is too far to do in one day. We could, of course, have gone back to Cape Charles, the Salt Ponds, Mobjack Bay, Jackson Creek, or some (continued on page 12)

Page 12 Final Fling (continued from page 11) NOVEMBER 2018 such and add a day to our trip. The problem was that while Friday s weather would be nice, Saturday s weather was going to be rainy, with winds West at 15 knots. It would be okay going up the Bay, but on our nose when we turned into the Rappahannock river, with 20 ktnots apparent wind for that leg. And, of course, the forecast could be wrong. Wetted Bliss, Autumn Wind, and Eminence decided to leave early Friday morning and just go all the way home. Sheila and I left at daybreak, set the engine on 3200 rpm (3600 rpm is the red line), rolled out our jib when the wind allowed, and made it home to our dock just off the Corrotoman River in very pleasant weather by 3 pm! Autumn Wind was not far behind us tying up at their dock that is within sight of ours. And, Eminence got home in Indian Creek about the same time. Only Bottlenose braved the Saturday weather by stopping Friday at Jackson Creek. Ted reported that, with just a little light rain, he had a great sail up the Rappahannock on Saturday to his dock, which is just a little further up the Corrotoman from ours. Thus concludes another exciting adventure by the RRYC cruisers. If this exquisite mix of fun, sailing, food, drink, and weather interests you, won t you consider joining us next season on a cruise? We typically have long ones and short ones, and we go to all sorts of interesting ports of call. When we publish next year s cruising events, please pick one that you think you would like and plan to go with us! The Eastern Shore Beyond Route 13 Tour By Ken Vincent Onancock is a popular destination for cruisers. One can sail right up to the town wharf and find numerous places to eat and explore on foot in the town. Ten RRYC cruisers arrived at Onancock to push the boundary by renting a van to explore the seldom seen points of interest beyond the town and off Route 13 the main artery through the Eastern Shore. Just getting the van required persistence, as technically Onancock is beyond the pickup zone of the only rental car company on the Eastern Shore. To make it work, we had to modify our plans slightly and find a local manager who would work with us. We started off Thursday night with a trip to Wachapreague to eat dinner at the Island House Restaurant widely regarded by the locals as the best restaurant on the lower Eastern Shore. After the sweet potato biscuits, the group consensus was that the locals were right. Unfortunately, the sun had set before we got there so we could not see the magnificent marshes stretching out to the Atlantic Ocean. The next morning was a beautiful sunny day for a change, and we all piled into the Ford 12-passenger van and started our tour. The first stop was the marina at East Point. As cruisers, we had all passed the markers to this marina on the way to Onancock but had never gone there. We had the opportunity to check out the Marina from the land and discover that it could be an option if one needed to tuck in for the night on the way down the Bay. Back in the van, the cruisers in the back got the full experience (continued on page 13)

NOVEMBER 2018 Page 13 Beyond Route 13 Tour (continued from page 12) of riding on the high-crowned roads that typify the back roads of Accomack County. Also, since cell phone service was spotty, we were not too sure where we were going as we tried to find Harborton. We did find the oldest Church on the peninsula, St George s Episcopal (circa1738), which had very interesting brick work. Then it was back to Route 13 to hurry down to Machipongo where we were able to catch a guitar concert by Emil Menasche, the composer/guitarist who has provided background music on all the videos produced by the Eastern Shore Nature Center. Following the concert, we took a tour of the Almshouse museum, which has artifacts from the old hunt clubs and resorts which used to be on the Eastern Shore before the hurricane of Who says chimneys have to go straight up? (continued on page 14)

Page 14 Beyond Route 13 Tour (continued from page 13) NOVEMBER 2018 We then had lunch just across the road at the Machipongo Trading Company which is famous for its ice cream, but also has good lunches. Our next stop was one of the oldest houses on the peninsula Eyre Hall. The manor house was built in 1760 and although privately owned, the gardens are available yearround for visitors. We were also treated to a crop duster doing its thing right next to the gardens as we looked around. Back in the van, we went to the courthouse in Eastville home of the oldest continuous records in the United States. These original records, dating from 1632, have been preserved in such a manner that one can take out the record books and read them. There was also a small museum. As the rental car office closed at 16:30, we piled back into the van, stopped for ice cream in Machipongo, then got the van back right on time. Unfortunately, the driver who was to take us back got lost. But we finally made it back to our boats and enjoyed a lovely night as pedestrians again in Onancock.

NOVEMBER 2018 Page 15 In Memoriam Col. Bob Morrison Remembered By Bill Wright I first met Bob Morrison at his Fort Monroe retirement ceremony in He and I served in the Pentagon during the 1970 s but didn t know one another. It is, after all, a rather cavernous and drafty sort of place that doesn t lend itself to budding friendships. Anyway, Bob brought his 32-foot Westsail, Widgeon, to Irvington and became a member of RRYC. He was always looking around to do things, and it wasn t long before he was delivering sailboats to new owners up and down the Chesapeake Bay. I accompanied him on one of his nighttime deliveries and swore I would never do it again. In the early eighties he volunteered to navigate a sailboat owned by a person on the West Coast who planned to sail to Tahiti, a distance of nearly 2,400 miles. At that time the Global Positioning System was in its infancy, so Bob used a sextant to get there. I guess if you taught mathematics at West Point, you can figure out how to do anything. And he did: after he got tired of delivering boats, he and his brother started a construction business. The storage facility at Lamberth s in White stone, the YMCA pool building, and numerous other structures throughout the Northern neck were built by M and M Properties. Although he was often as stubborn as a mule and thought of me as sort of a lame brain, we became very close friends. I didn t like sailing with him on his boat though; he was too bossy. Back in the day when I was crewing for Bob Adcock on Felicity, just about everyone in the club participated in RRYC races. On any given Saturday, you would find the likes of Jack Ruckert, Kirk Snell, Tom Denegre, Jack Meyer, Norm Smith, Neil MacCarthy, Carl Broaddus, Jim Stuart, Burwell Vaden, and Bill Hope mucking about the starting line. (You ll find some of these names on the brass plaques over the club fireplace). And then just as the horn blew, here comes Morrison in that dinosaur, Widgeon, barreling his way across the starting line. I don t recall his winning many races, but his actions encouraged many boat owners to be more conscientious about their man overboard drills. The old timers remember when Bob was Commodore in While in this capacity, he ordered the renovation of the Club interior and gave me responsibility for purchasing and installing the brown paneling that covers the original planking installed in Shortly after the renovation was completed, (it included building a new bar, which is still functioning), a party was held so that the membership could celebrate the improvements. For those of us who survived that night, we ll never forget the torchlights of the mob and the cries for impeachment. Not many members know that Bob was President of the Kilmarnock, Irvington, White Stone Rotary Club and chaired the Irvington Planning Commission for many years. He ran the RRYC Junior Sailing Program and was Grand Marshal of the Irvington th of July parade. One final thing: Bob and I hunted together in the Spring and the Fall. deer and squirrels in the Fall; turkeys in the Spring. He was good at it. I was not. As we grew older, we developed a live and let live philosophy. I guess that s about it. I should mention that I often referred to Bob as Porky. This evolved from a very bad joke we shared many years ago, and should never be told in mixed company.

Page 16 NOVEMBER 2018 Mark your calendars for the Christmas Social on December 8th! Brad and Joan Perry, aka Alabaster Grace, will present a special Christmas music program including favorite carols for a sing-a-long. FROM THE GALLEY By Jim Ward Once again, weather-related events caused the October social to be cancelled. We hope that the hurricane season has now passed, and that the November social will go on as scheduled. As usual, the social on November 17 will follow the annual members meeting and should start around 17:30. As in the past, there will be no meal served, but there will be a wide selection of heavy Hors d oeuvres, beer, wine, mixers and soft drinks available. The cost is $15.00, and you need to make reservations at rrycmanager@gmail.com no later than November 12. I am asking not only members of the social committee, but all members to consider bringing an appetizer to this event. Many hands make for light work, and in this case a wider variety of delicacies. If you are willing to share one of your favorite finger foods with your fellow members, please contact Kay Vincent at kayvincent@gmail.com or as soon as possible and let her know what you plan to bring. Once we have a list of contributors, we will contact you and let you know how many of your items we hope you can contribute. See you there!
