1 Dear Colleague POLICE SPORTS UK LAWN TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS 2017 INFORMATION FOR PLAYERS VENUE The Championships will be held at David Lloyd, 6 The Aerodrome, Speke, Liverpool, L24 8QD Telephone: Website: AND East Wavertree LTC 129A Dunbabin Road, L16 7QQ (Len Lucas Trophy 55 plus) A great venue 6 Synthetic Grass Courts. The Championships will be played on Monday 4 th and Tuesday 5 th September Play will start at 9am prompt and finish at 7pm at the latest (Monday) and 6pm latest (Tuesday) There will be practice courts available on Sunday 3rd September 2017 from 3pm-7pm to allow players a chance to relax on Sunday night. Matches will be played on indoor and outdoor courts. Please can competitors ensure they are wearing appropriate footwear and recognised tennis clothing should be worn. Food & refreshments will be available to purchase at the David Lloyd Club with a BBQ also. There is free parking at David Lloyd you will need a code to exit the car park which can be obtained from the Reception. ENTRIES The Championships shall be open only to members of affiliated clubs in compliance with Rule 36 of the PSUK Constitution and Rules. The entry fee for each competitor is 30. Please note there is a maximum participation of 2 events per competitor. Regional winners and runners up from each of the regions will qualify for the tournament. There will also be 2 wild cards available for distribution at the discretion of the Captains of the British Police Tennis Section and Regional representatives should make early contact with Craig Severin to request any wild card entries. Holders of Championship titles in all events will automatically qualify to take part in next year s Competition. Could all championship title holders please ensure they return their trophies to the tournament organisers on arrival at the tournament. Payments can be made using bank transfer if you wish to use online banking. Full details can be found under COSTS. If you wish to pay by cheque, please make payable to PSUK Tennis We are hoping to provide a memorable stay and a great three course meal including table beverages. I will send the Menu details nearer the time and hopefully Merseyside can provide a memorable tournament. Chief Constable Andy Cooke has confirmed his support and is looking forward to meeting you all. If you have any concerns or need to arrange any transport do not hesitate to contact us. We will provide a welcome pack on arrival with multiple attractions/restaurants and maps.

2 **Please can your entry form together with relevant entry fee and Championship Dinner fee be submitted as soon as possible (Post Regional s) but before Monday 7 th August 2017 HOTEL NUMBERS FOR THE MEAL and ROOMS.** This will assist the organisers greatly! The Hotels in the city are often booked months in advance due to the Echo Arena Music events for example. The draw will be posted both at the Hotel and Tennis clubs throughout the event. The draw will be made in accordance with the PSUK rules. Please note that the decision of the tournament Referee is final and every player should adhere to any other instruction from the Referee. Those at the Tournament should expect to adhere to the Code of Ethics, and remember that on and off court behaviours should meet the highest standards of our profession. ACCOMMODATION Competitors and guests will book direct with the hotel and early reservation is recommended. There is a booking code name PSUK but if you mention that you are part of the Police Tennis Tournament to secure the agreed rates. 80 rooms (10 Single/70 Double/Twin) have been reserved at the hotel until 03/08/17. Check out time on Wednesday 6 th September 2017 is 1200hrs. The room rates listed above are inclusive of a tremendous breakfast. The Hotel is approximately 20 mins from David Lloyd Speke and 25 mins drive from Liverpool John Lennon Airport, however please leave more time in rush hour. We will assist with Minibuses from the Airport on Sunday for anyone arriving at Liverpool John Lennon Airport. There are other accommodation options available with several other hotels nearby in the City Centre. The Premier Inn and Stalybridge Suites at the Albert Dock are very close to the Pullman. CHAMPIONSHIP DINNER The Championship dinner will be held at The Pullman Hotel and will cost 30 per person. Pre-dinner drinks will begin at 1900hrs and dinner will be served at 1930hrs. There will be a live band and disco after dinner and presentations. The Hotel bar is open until Thursday

3 Would any guests attending the dinner who have any other special dietary requirements please indicate on the entry form or contact ourselves. The chefs are fantastic! TRANSPORT AND DIRECTIONS The Hotel is located at Kings Dock on Liverpool s world famous waterfront and a 5 minute walk from the Albert Dock and Liverpool ONE shopping centre. Should any competitor arrive by train at Lime Street station, there are taxis ranked outside the station. It should cost no more than 5-8 across the city. Should any competitor be arriving into Liverpool John Lennon airport, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate. We will have minibuses for the duration of the tournament for shuttling between the hotel and tennis clubs.
