WAKE FOREST HONORS A closer look at the 49ers opponent ACC Regular Season Champions (6th time overall) -The Demon Deacons led the ACC in Goals (45), Assists (43), Shutouts (10), goals per game is tied for 2nd in NCAA -Seven Demon Deacons earned ACC postseason awards, highlighted by Jack Harrison who won Offensive Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year and was named to ACC First Team and All- Freshman Team. SEVEN 49ERS EARN ALL-C-USA HONORS; PARKER NAMED LEAGUE MVP Charlotte men s soccer placed seven members on All Conference USA squads, as announced Tuesday morning by the league office. The 49ers placing of seven of the four squads is for second only to Old Dominion, who named eight. I am super proud of the guys. These honors are a team effort, head coach Kevin Langan said. These awards reflect on every member of our roster. Now we look to the Conference USA Tournament and we are excited to start postseason play. Senior standout Kyle Parker repeated as the C-USA Offensive MVP after sharing the crown in 2014 and being selected as the Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. Parker also picked up the Golden Boot Award, given to the top scorer in league action. Parker fired seven goals in conference games,12 overall, and leads the league with 27 points total. He chipped five game-winning goals this season, putting him 8th in the nation. He is also the only player to score on C-USA s Player of the Year and Defensive MVP, Callum Irving of Kentucky. Joining Parker on the First Team is junior midfielder Brandt Bronico, who was second in the league and first on the 49ers squad with eight assists. His seven goals rank and 21 points second only to Parker on the Charlotte fleet. The dynamic duo of Bronico and Parker have combined for 49 points (19 goals, 11 assists) of Charlotte s 87 points and eight of the team s 10 game-winning goals. Earning his first All-Conference honors is junior midfielder Max Rodriguez, who was named to the Second Team. The defensive mid helped anchor a 49ers defense that limited opponents to just 12 goals over 17 games. Rodriguez also assisted in two goals this season, and is one of only two players besides the keeper to log over 1,400 minutes this season, proving a critical asset in the Charlotte lineup. Senior goalkeeper Austin Pack and sophomore defender Matej Dekovic were awarded Third Team honors after stellar defensive performances all season, recording seven shutouts on the season. Pack s impressive 0.69 goals-against-average ranks him third in the league- a ranking he was atop of for most of the season- and in the Top 5 in 49er history. Dekovic has three assists on the year, and has recorded the most minutes this season after Pack, proving to be essential to the 49ers backline. Rounding out the awards are freshmen Callum Montgomery and Tommy Madden, who were each named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team. Montgomery has logged two goals and an assist this season, appearing in 12 matches and starting in 10. The defender has also helped the dynamic 49er defense limit opponents to just 57 shots on-goal. Madden also appeared in 12 contests for the Niners, making his first career start last Saturday against UAB. After earning the second seed in the 2015 C-USA Championship Tournament, Charlotte will face the seventh seed, Marshall, on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Transamerica Field. The 49ers defeated the Herd 3-1 in early October.
