2 SOUTHWARK LEISURE CENTRES Our leisure centres are operated in partnership with Everyone Active and offer a wide range of facilities for everyone. These include gyms, swimming pools and group exercise classes. We have an extensive Silver programme which can be accessed for 1 per session. However, if you re a Southwark resident and over 60, you can access our Silver sessions for free all week if you register for our free swim and gym scheme. See the next page for details. If you have any questions and specific support requirements, please call your nearest centre. All leisure centre contact details and addresses are listed on the back of this booklet. 3 FREE SWIM AND GYM SCHEME If you are over 60 and a Southwark resident you can register for our free swim and gym scheme. Joining this scheme entitles you to attend the Silver sessions programme all week for free and also access free swim and gym facilities at the following times: A nytime on Friday (subject to programmes and timetables) S aturday and Sunday afternoons from 2pm to close D isabled residents are able to use all leisure centres for free everyday To apply for the free swim and gym offer: V isit southwark.gov.uk/freeswimandgym Or, visit your local library to register online I f you have no access to internet and cannot visit a library, please visit your local leisure centre to complete an application form Membership of the free swim and gym scheme requires renewal every 12 months. 4 SILVERFIT LIFELONG FITNESS Silverfit is a charity aimed at encouraging wellbeing and fitness for people over the age of 45 promoting happier and healthier ageing. Silverfit gym and classes range from 1 to 2 for members and 2.50 for non-members. Membership is 5 per year. Why not try out a walking sport that follows the same rules as the standard versions of the games, however instead of running you walk. Please contact the club directly for any further information. 6 EXERCISE CLASSES Keeping active has many health benefits for both your body and mind. Taking part in regular physical activity can help to reduce feelings of anxiety and depression. So why not try one or more of these fun activities to help build physical activity into your daily life. Even a small change can boost your confidence and give you a sense of achievement. These activities are low cost and are a great way to meet new friends.
