2 Upcoming Walks The next Illinois Trekkers Traditional walking event is scheduled for Saturday, July 22, 2017 in Waterloo, IL. See you there. Christmas in July Mark your calendars for July 22 nd and explore historical Waterloo. Our 5K and 10K routes take you past the Waterloo historical museum, Bellefontaine home, and Peterstown house as well as the lovely downtown shops. The historical buildings will be open for you to visit ($2 donation would be greatly appreciated). Waterloo is the first permanent settlement in what is now the state of Illinois (1781), with the earliest settlers including families of Revolutionary War veterans. Their annual Christmas in July event will give you a chance to get started on your Christmas shopping, finding unique and homemade Christmas items. In keeping with the Christmas spirit, we will be collecting donations of diapers or pull ups; diaper cream; spill proof sippy cups; toddler snacks and meals; and $5 Walmart gift cards (to be used for specific formula needs). All items collected will be given to the Life Network Southern Illinois. Both routes start and finish at the Monroe County Courthouse Bandshell Gazebo.
